Casey's board, and was commissioned Capt. of Co. K, 28th U.S.C.T.; Must. at Poplar Grove Church, Sept., 18, and served with that regiment until discharged Jan., '66, at Indianapolis, Ind.; present in action at Winchester, Harper's Ferry, Suffolk, Va.; Newport Barracks, N.C., and capture of the Twenty-Fifth Army Corps; on duty with Russel's brigade at Corpus Christi; Must. out of the U.S. service at Louisville, Ky., Jan., '65.
