John Weir was born in Londonderry, New Hampshire, August 24, 1757. While residing in Hampstead, New Hampshire, he volunteered in April, 1775, in Captain French's New Hampshire company and was discharged in June, 1775. He enlisted again in June, 1777, in Captain Roger Gilmore's New Hampshire company and was discharged in August, 1777. He re-enlisted in August, 1777, in Captain Daniel Rand's company, Colonel Benjamin Bellows' company New Hampshire regiment. He was discharged in October 1777. He volunteered again in 1780 or 1781 in Captain Levi Hooper's New Hampshire company. After the Revolution he moved from New Hampshire to Grafton, Vermont, and later lived in Windham county, Vermont He died June 5, 1837, in Putney, Vermont. He married December 2, 1784, at Westmorland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, Rebecca Livingston, who was born in October, 1762. She survived him, and applied for pension in September, 1838.
