Waste, 71, for 28 years previous to 1919 successful merchant here died at 11:30 o'clock Wednesday night of organic heart trouble after being in failing health many years. He was confined to his ben only a short time. Mr. Waste was a native of Whitingham, a son of Charles and Harriet (Warren) Waste, and was born Feb. 22, 1852. The family moved to Rowe where he attended the public schools. For a time he was a farmer and then took up carpentry, becoming foreman of aconstruction gang, following the occupation until he was 40 years of age. He then became keeper of the general store here and was a successful merchant until he retired in 1919. He married Miss Eleanor C. Bliss of Whitingham, Nov. 26, 1874, and to them a daughter and a son were born. They are Etta, wife of Leonard Brown of Wilmington, and Harry L. Waste of Shelburne Falls, Mass. Mr. Waste was a member of Unity lodge of Mansons and had served as master of the lodge, afterwards being chaplain several years. Besides his wife, a daugher and son, Mr. Waste leaves four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Holbrook of Lyndon Center and Mrs. Sadie M. Christie of Rowe, Mass., and a brother, Warren E. Waste of Greenfield Mass.
