                        -------------
Had Been Ill Since Early In 1923-- Employed by Estey Organ Co.
19 Years--Funeral Saturday

After a long illness, dating from early in 1923, Archie C. Winchester,
44, an employe of the Estey Organ Co. about 19 years died at his home at
3 Chestnut street at 7.15 o'clock this morning.

He was born in Washington, D.C., March 3, 1880, the oldest of two sons
of Carley C. and Delia M. (Miller) Winchester. The family afterward
lived in Wilmington several years. Mr. Winchester came to Brattleboro
in 1892. Later he entered the employ of the Estey Organ Co., and except
for subsequent brief employment in the government shipyards at
Portsmouth, N.H., he continued his service with the Estey company 19
years, increasing health impairment forcing his retirement in the summer
of last year. He underwent serious operations in the Melrose hospital
here and the Boston Homeopathic hospital.

He was quiet and unassuming in his home life and popular with all who
shared his acquaintance. He had been a member of Wantastiquet lodge of
Odd Fellows about 15 years and of Quonekticut tribe of Red Men 23 years.

Besides his wife, who was Miss Mabelle Gilbert, whom he married Jan.
19, 1901, he leaves a daughter, Evaleen, his mother, Mrs. Rollin S.
Childs, a brother, Verne H. Winchester of the Dunham Bros. Co. and other
relatives.

Rev. Edwin P. Wood of All Souls church will officiate at the funeral
which will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, when the
Odd Fellows ritual service will be used. The Red Men's committal
service will be conducted at the grave in Morningside cemetery.
