KAINE --------- Linotype Operator on New York American, Whose Home Was Here, Underwent Operation in Holyoke Louis B. Kaine, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Kaine of Elliot street, died at 10.40 o'clock this forenoon in the Ciry hospital in Holyoke Mass., where he underwent an operation for ulcers of the stomach a week ago today. He was doing well and his parents had returned to their home. This morning they received a message from the hospital that he had had a turn for the worse. His father left for Holyoke immediately and had not reached there when news of the son's death was received here. Mr. Kaine was born in Brattleboro, the seventh of eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Kaine, Dec. 23, 1896. He graduated from St. Michael's Parochial school, and from Brattleboro high school in 1915. After leaving school he entered the employ of The Reformer and became a linotype operator. A few years ago he went to New York city, where he became operator for the New York American. While in New York he was taken ill and underwent an operation for appendicitis, coming to his home here several weeks ago to recuperate. He was a young man of very likable characteristics, possessing a congenial and accommodating disposition, was a conscientious and efficient operator and was loyal to the interests of his employers. He was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Michael's Roman Catholic church, and of Leo council, Knights of Columbus. Besides his parents he leaves two brothers, John Kaine, a traveling salesman in Calgary, Alberts, and Dr. William J. Kaine of Brattleboro.
