STARKERY GOUND DEAD IN HIS CHAIR Had Been Afflicted with Asthma and Arose in Night to Use Remedy-- Funeral Friday at 3 o'clock. Charles Elliot Stanley, 69, of 5 Myrtle Street, was found dead this morning about 5:30 o'clock by Mrs. Starkey. He was in his night clothes and was sitting in a chair in the dining room. A physician was called at once, who said that he had been dead several hours. Mr. Starkey was afflicted with asthma and it is supposed that he got up in the night to use a remedy which he had for that trouble, when he was taken with heart failure. He had not been in hus usual good health the past year, but he was able to work every day, as he did all day yesterday. He was born in Townshend Sept. 30, 1849 and was one of three children of the late Alonza and Phoebe (Howard)Starkey. A brother, E. A. Starkey, died four years ago. Besides his wife, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Henry P. Wellman of this town. He married Mary E. Jepson of Halifax in West Brattleboro in 1885. No children were born to them. Mr. Starkey was employed for several years by the Estey Organ company, but later years he had worked at odd jobs, caring for lawns and gardens about town. The funeral will be held in the home on Myrtle street Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. E. Q. S. Osgood of the Unitarian church will officiate. ***************** (c)1998, Terry Perham Courtesy of Terry Perham Hinsdale, NH tess@sover.net ************************************************* * * * * NOTICE: Printing the files within by non-commercial individuals and libraries is encouraged, as long as all notices and submitter information is included.
