WILLIAM L. MAY Black Mountain Resident Who Had Spent Nine Years in Wheel Chair Mrs. Adella (Stoddard) May, 62, wife of William Lyman May, died at her home on Black Mountain road shortly before midnight, death resulting from brights disease, following a period of nine years of paralysis. Mrs. May had been unable to walk during that time, and had been confined to a wheel chair. She was born in Woodford, (Vt.) May 26, 1862, one of a family of 11 children of Benjamin and Anna (Crawford) Stoddard. She married Mr. May of Wardsboro, June 26, 1881. the ceremony taking place in Edinburg, N.Y. They began housekeeping in Clarksburg, Mass., where they lived a year, moving from there to Dummerston where they made their home 20 years. They also lived in Halifax 14 years and three years ago Mr. May bought the so-called Lindsey farm on Black Mountain road. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. May, six of whom survive; Benjamin S. of Danby, Mass.; Mary, wife of W.H. Cannon of Halifax; Warren W. of Brattleboro; Everett W., who is manager of the Bond floral store; Ida Belle, wife of B.N. Vancor of Brattleboro; Clara Agnes, wife of G.J. Severens, who lived on the home farm. She is also survived by six sisters and three brothers, and 10 grandchildren. Mrs. May was a member of the Baptist church in North Adams, Mass., but of no other organization. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Mitchell's funeral home. Rev. Edwin P. Wood, pastor of All Souls church, will officiate. The burial will take place in Dummerston Center. ****** Funeral services for Mrs. William L. May, who died last Thursday night at her home on Black Mountain road, were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock fraom Mitchell's funeral home. Rev. Edwin P. Wood, pastor of All Souls church, officiated. The bearers were Warren May, Benjamin May, Guy Severns and Everett W. May. The burial took place in Dummerston Center.
