VT Date: 4/27/98 8:14:22 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: tess@sover.net (Terry Perham) from the Brattleboro Reformer Brattleboro, Windham County, VT 1925 JOHN DAGGETT DIES IN HOSPITAL For More than 20 Years Chef in Different Eatting Places in Brattleboro - Funeral Tomorrow John Daggett, 64, for more than 20 years a well-known chef in different Brattleboro eating places, died in the Memorial hospital early this morning of sarcoma. He was taken ill Oct. 3 at the Brooks House, where he had been employed about two years, and the following day was taken to the hospital. He was born June 8, 1860, in Putney, one of two sons of Calvin and Laura, Taft, Daggett. He spent his boyhood in Putney, later going to Brockton, Palmer, Springfield and other places before coming to Brattleboro. Since coming here he had worked in various restaurants and for five or six years was chef at the Memorial hospital. He united with the Baptist church when he was 21 years of age. He also was a member of Brattleboro lodge, Loyal Order of Moose. Mr. Daggett leaves four half-sisters and a half-brother in Brockton and Stockton, Mass. His brother, Walter Daggett, died of influenza in Lancaster, Pa., Oct. 24, 1918, when about 50 years of age. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Mitchell's funeral home, Rev. Dr. Albert H.
