HENRY TUCKER GIES FROM SHOCK Was Wife of Former Long-Time Health Officer of Brattleboro-- Funeral in Franklin, N.H. Today Mrs. Mary Ellen (Moore) Tucker, 79, wife of Dr. Henry Tucker of Franklin, N.H. to which place they moved from Brattleboro about three years ago, died Saturday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Clifford, in Franklin as the result of a shock which she sustained two weeks ago. Before goint to Franklin, Dr. and Mrs. Tucker had lived here 26 years and at an earlier period they were residents here 14 years. The house on Grove street which was their home during their last residence here is now the parsonage of All Souls church. Mrs. Tucker was president of the Vermont Woman Suffrage association in 1887-1888, was a charter member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of Brattleboro when it was organized in 1878 and served as its president a number of times, holding the office the last time 16 years. She also was a member of the First Baptist church, the Home Sunshine society, the Sedgwich Woman's Relief corps and Brattleboro chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was born in Lowden Ridge, N.H., Jan. 22, 1846, one of nine children of Dr. David F. and Frances (Clifford) Moore. She was the last surviving member of her father's family. Her father was the first homeopathic physician in New Hampshire north of Concord. She atended school in Gilmanton and finished in Guilford academy in Laconia. Her marriage to Dr. Tucker took place in Lake Village, now Lakeport, N.H. Oct. 25, 1870. He was then a resident of Claremont, N.H. They came to Brattleboro in 1874 and in 1888 went to Laconia, returning here in 1896. Dr. Tucker, who survives, was health officer here 14 1-2 years, until h the district health law went into effect July 1, 1919. He served in the Signal corps in the Civil war, in the Department of the Gulf. He is a graduate of the New York Homeopathic Medical college. Mrs. Tucker descended on her mother's side from David Clifford, who was present at Burgoyne's surrender.
