Province of New-Hampshire. *2-61 Hertford. George the Third By His Excellency's Command With Advice of Council, theodore Atkinson Secry Province of New Hampr July 10th 1761 Recorded in the Book of Charters According to the Original Charter under the Prov Seal 2-63 *The names of the Grantees of Hertford-Viz- Andrew Powers, John Hubbard, Lusias Dolittle, Joseph Burt, Nathan Willard, etc. Additional Comments: Nathan Willard was the 1st settler; check out http://hartlandhistory.netfirms.com/firstsettler.html Andrew POWERS signed this charter but I do not have any proof that this Andrew POWERS was my ancestor. Time line of my Andrew POWERS: 1740-1760 in Greenwich, MA, where his children were all born. He sold land in 1748 in Quabbin (Greenwich), MA, possibly to Ebenzer Holmes. 1762 in Brattleboro, VT when he sold his original proprietors 'whole meadow lot #23 to Oliver Willard. In 1787 this deed was registered in Hartland, Vt., and sworn by Andrew Powers to be true. All of these deeds were signed with an X, but that was not unusual for the time.
