D. Barnet J. D. Barnet died Monday morning at 8 o'clock at his home on the hill, of liver and stomach trouble. Interment occurred in this city Tuesday afternoon. Adams County News, October 22, 1902, issue Mrs. N. K. Foreman Mrs. N. K. Foreman died this (Wednesday) evening at the residence opposite the court house of typhoid fever after a seven week's sickness. He leaves Friday morning for the old home in Illinois where the remains will be laid at rest. Mr. Foreman was a barber formerly working in the Lakin shop. Adams County News, November 12, 1902, issue Hubert Ledbetter EPHRATA - Nov. 11 - Hubert Ledbetter of Lind, Wash., was killed by the accidental discharge of his gun while he was duck hunting with a party of friends on Moses lake, south of here. He was using a pump gun and carrying it cocked when he slipped on a rock and in some way discharged the gun, the load taking effect in his head, blowing away the entire upper portion of his skull. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Nonnsen Mrs. E. Andrew received the sad intelligence of the death of both parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Nonnsen at Capegarden, Mo. The father dying on the 5th inst and the mother following two days later. Both were elderly people. Adams County News, November 19, 1902, issue Death of Abraham Dillon Death has claimed another Grand Gentleman, Abraham Dillon, a member of W. B. Hazen post No. 46, of this city, who passed peacefully away last Sunday morning. Death ensued from heart trouble and dropsy. Mr. Dillon was 72 years of age and had been an honored and respected citizen of this place for twelve years, coming here in 1890 from Richland Center, Wis. He was born in old Missouri state March 15, 1830, removing to Wisconsin in 1850, and while there, two years later, married Miss Susan Sampson, who faithfully accompanied him as a life partner until sixteen months ago when she was a victim of consumption and is laid at rest in the cemetery on the little rise west of town. He leaves five children - Mrs. John Bovee, Mrs. Frank G. Johnson, James L., and Ernest Dillon all of this place, and Grant Dillon who resides at the old home in Richland Center, Wis. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of this city and the funeral services were ably conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. H. Fertig the ceremonies and march to the grave being largely attended. Mr. Dillon enlisted in Co. H 37th Wisconsin volunteers in 1863, and served until the close of our great civil war. He was an industrious, quiet and unassuming man who made friends and kept them to the end. He joins the silent majority and crosses the dark valley triumphantly to the brighter and better world beyond where the weary and heavy laden are at rest. Abraham and Susan Dillon lie side by side in the little burying ground overlooking the town - a fitting climax to their well spent lives of good and honest deeds. For forty years both were consistent followers of the Christian faith. Johnson Child The three-year-old child of J. W. Johnson died Monday and was buried yesterday. Mrs. Johnson is recovering from a long siege of typhoid fever in which at one time her life hung in the balance. Adams County News, December 24, 1902, issue Harry L. Kretzer Harry L., ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Kretzer, who lived here ten years ago and now residing at Cornelius, Ore., near Portland, was killed last Sunday by the accidental discharge of a shot gun. The lad was born in this city and the parents will be remembered by many of our citizens who were here then. Mrs. Lester Popple Mrs. Lester Popple died Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Billingsly at Odessa. The deceased was a sister of Geo and F. Tinnel of Lincoln county. She leaves a husband and several children to mourn her loss.
