In playing around it fell into a can of boiling lard and was so frightfully burned that it died on last Saturday and was buried Monday from the family home. The little child was but three years of age, and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Pflugradt in their sorrow and grief. Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, January 9, 1907, issue Mark W. Townsend Mark W. Townsend, a farmer living in the western part of the county, died Dec. 30 and was buried in the Michigan Prairie cemetery. Mr. Townsend came to Adams county form Wisconsin and was one of the pioneer school teachers of the county. Before the present state system of certifying teachers became a part of the law, he was a member of the county board of examiners. Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, January 16, 1907, issue George Delaney Mrs. George Tinnel received the sad news of the death of her brother-in-law, George Delaney, who died at Walla Walla Tuesday. Mrs. Harry York and Miss Minnie Myers left Tuesday evening to be in attendance at the funeral which will occur Thursday. Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, January 23, 1907, issue C. L. Greene A telegram was received here on last Saturday announcing the death at Goldfield, Nev., of C. L. Greene, father of E. O. Greene, engineer at the Ritzville Flouring Mills. Krehbiel Child The one-year-old child of John Krehbiel of Lind died and was buried this afternoon. Rev. Schrag, of Menno, officiating. Baumann Infant The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. John Baumann, who reside on College Hill, died Thursday night at 8 o'clock. The cause of death was pneumonia. It was buried from the Heinemann M. E. church last Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. John C. Miller officiated. Mr. Baumann is one of the employees of the Journal-Herold Pub. Co. The Journal joins their many friends who sympathize with the bereaved parents. W. Carson KAHLOTUS - (Portion of print missing) W..... Carson, an employee of Par.....Donald as freigt teamster, was accidentally killed Wednesday. The body was brought to town for burial. Carson had a brother in the vicinity of Spokane, known as "Bob" Carson. A cousin, W. R. Carson, who resides in Kahlotus decided to hold the body a few days until a brother could be heard from. Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, February 13, 1907, issue Leonard Baby The infant baby of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Leonard died last night. When they retired in the evening the baby was seemingly feeling well, but when they awoke in the morning they discovered that the little life had expired. It will be buried this afternoon, the Rev. W. H. Harris officiating. Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, February 20, 1907, issue Otto Luiten LAMONA - Otto Luiten, a well known farmer of this community, died at his home south east of Lamona Friday, Feb. 8th, of pneumonia. Mr. Luiten had been troubled with a severe cold for sometime, but continued to work until about ten days previous to his death. He was 21 years and 10 months of age, of good habits, honest and industrious, and his early departure is a sad loss to his family and many friends. Mr. Luiten is survived by his mother, three sisters and three brothers, all being at the home place near Lamona. The remains were entered in the Lamona cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, February 11th. Henry Allert Dies Far From Home Went to California the first week in January for his health - heart failure the cause. When Mr. Allert went south none of his friends thought his trouble of such a serious nature. The entire community was shocked when the telegram reached this city on Monday that he had passed away. Heart trouble was the cause of his death. Up to the hour of going to press, Wednesday, 9 a.m., we have been unable to learn as to the funeral arrangements. Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, February 27, 1907, issue Grandma York Grandma York, mother of Mrs. J. M. Harris, of this city, and grandmother of Fred and Arthur Hawn, of Granger, Benton county, was stricken with paralysis on Tuesday of last week and died the following Sunday. Mrs. York came here last fall on an extended visiting tour among her children, it being her intention to shortly start for Walla Walla and thence to California. She was 86 years old. Her son arrived Tuesday morning and, with Arthur Hawn, will accompany the remains back to Dakota where interment will be made. All of the month of March is missing from the files.
