Mr. and Mrs. Rogers left this county a year ago and went to Idaho, where they were opening up a new home. They had lived in this county 17 years and were well known here. Deceased died of pneumonia, after only two days of serious illness. The Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, October 16, 1907, issue Bigham Infant ODESSA - The seven months old child of Mr. and Mrs. M. Bigham died last Monday morning of cholera infantum, after a short illness. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Southall officiating, following which the remains were interred in the German Lutheran cemetery. October 23, 1907 missing The Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, October 30, 1907, issue John Hille John Hille, fifteen years of age, son of Christian Hille who lives about twelve miles south of town, died Tuesday of diptheria. The remains were interred yesterday but owing to the contageous nature of the disease from which he died, a public funeral could not be held. Four other children of the family are down with the disease but Dr. Lunz, the attending physician, states that three of them are now out of danger and the fourth has a good chance for recovery. The Washington State Journal, Thursday, November 6, 1907, (Note name change of publication) November 13-27 missing The Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, December 4, 1907, issue Emma Graedel ODESSA - Emma, the twelve year old daughter of Rev. and Mrs. G. Graedel, who live eleven miles southwest of Odessa, died Monday of diptheria. The remains were interred the following day. The three other members of the family, who have been suffering with the disease, are now convalescent, and their recovery looked for. Death of A. J. Farmer The death of A. J. Farmer is reported from Missouri, where Mr. Farmer went a few weeks ago on a visit to his old home. Mr. Farmer is well known to Odessa's older residents, having followed the trade of carpenter here until about four years ago, when he moved to a ranch south of Krupp, where he has since resided. Grandpa Farmer, as he was known here, was a kind spoken old gentleman, who everybody admired and respected, and his death will be sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends. (note article in Dec. 26, 1907, issue corrected this story to indicate that Mr. Farmer did not die as reported and was very much alive.) The Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, December 11, 1907, issue Death of David Crewse David Crewse died at his home eighteen miles northwest of Lind last Monday morning after an illness of but a few days. He had typhoid pneumonia, but the direct cause of death was heart failure. The funeral took place from the family home at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Landis, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Connell. Interrment was made in the Lind cemetery. Mr. Crewse was born in Warren county, Iowa, in 1858. At the age of 18 he came west, locating in Oregon. At about 21 years of age he came to this state and settled in Spokane county, where he married. In 1902 he came to Adams county and located on the farm, northwest of Lind where he has made his home ever since. About one year ago Mr. Crewse was appointed by the county commissioners as Road Supervisor for District No. 2, in which capacity he was serving at the time of his death. Deceased is survived by his wife and five children - Imogene, Lydia, Glen and Kieth Crewse and Mrs. J. R. McDaniels. The Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, December 19, 1907, issue Schmidt Infant ODESSA - The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmidt, who live southwest of town, died Monday. Its life was of short duration, being born only about ten days previous. The Washington State Journal and Adams County News, Thursday, December 26, 1907, issue William Smith WASHTUCNA - William Smith, cousin of Mrs. H. L. White and nephew of W. W. Smith of Walla Walla, died of typhoid fever Wednesday in a hotel at Hatton. Mr. White received word that the remains will be brought to Washtucna Friday for burial in the I. O. O. F. cemetery by the side of hsi father, Samuel Smith, who died February, 1905. Mrs. W. A. Hayden WASHTUCNA - Mrs. W. A. Hayden died Monday of consumption at the home of her mother, Mrs. John Griner, near Garfield. Mr. Hayden was here visiting when he received the sad news Wednesday and immediately left for that place. Mrs, Hayden has been sick the past year but was not thought to be in a critical condition. Besides her husband she is survived by two small children, ages two and four years. Interment was made in the cemetery at Freeze, Idaho. Simpson Infant LIND - Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Simpson, who live on the south side of town, lost their six- month-old baby boy very suddenly and unexpectedly last Saturday morning. It was apparently all right when the parents arose in the morning, and an hour or so later the mother went to the bedside and found the little one dead. Heart failure was the cause of death. The funeral took place Sunday.
