H. Nuetzmann officiating. Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. Mrs. Schulz had been in ill health for some time. Death was due to old age. She was born in Russia, Aug. 12, 1858, and came to this country at an early age. She had lived in Adams county 34 years. She is survived by her widower, Fred Schulz; three daughters, Mrs. Carl Beck, Lind; Mrs. Henry Litz, American Falls, Ida.; and Mrs. Robert Schulz, New Leipzig, N.D.; and three sons, John, Ralston, Fred, Waitsburg, and Ernest, Spokane. Alfred F. Johnston Alfred Forbes Johnston passed away Jan. 5, 1937. He was the son of Anna B. Johnston and the late Dr. John Johnston, of Ritzville. Alfred Forbes Johnston was born at Asbury Park, New Jersey, Oct. 20, 1901. He is survived by his mother, Anna B. Johnston, and one brother, Richard Cooke Johnston, of Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home Gothic Chapel, Spokane, Archdeacon Alexander Coffin officiating. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 14, 1937, issue Walter Reeder Dies In Seattle Walter C. Reeder, early pioneer of Adams county died in Seattle this week, according to word received here yesterday. Mr. Reeder came here about 50 years ago from Illinois and settled south of Lind in the Michigan Prairie country where he farmed for several years. He then retired from farming and came to Ritzville where he operated a furniture store in the building now occupied by the Modern Hardware. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 21, 1937, issue None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 28, 1937, issue Services Held For Henry Derr Funeral services for Henry Derr, 68, pioneer who died Tuesday at his home here, were held this afternoon at the Emanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. E. A. Rein officiating. Mr. Derr had been ill only a short time. Death was due to pneumonia. He was born in Russia Oct. 17, 1868, and came to this country at an early age. Besides his widow, Amelia, he is survived by three daughters, Hulda, Martha and Mrs. Rudolph Koch, and two sons, Sam and Theodore. Miessner Is Buried Here Funeral services for Henry Miessner, 71, pioneer farmer who died last Friday, were held Monday afternoon at the Emanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. E. A. Rein officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery. Mr. Miessner had been ill about six weeks before his death, which was due to pneumonia. He was born Nov. 30, 1865, in Hanover, Germany, coming to the United States when he was 15 years old, settling in Cleveland, Ohio, and later moving to Minnesota. In 1885, he came to Washington, settling at Ritzville and homesteading later at Packard. In 1898 he returned to Minnesota and married Miss Katherine Fitschen. They returned to his home near Packard where he lived until his death. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Herman of Electric City, and Richard, Ritzville; six daughters, Mrs. Hans Kahler, Mrs. Esther Herrick, Laura, Bertha and Irene, all of Hooper, and Mrs. Henry Vostral, Ritzville. The funeral was in charge of the Haight parlors. Mrs. P. E. Mulkey WASHTUCNA - Mrs. Porta Elizabeth Mulkey, 83, a pioneer resident of Monmouth, Ore., passed away at her home there on Feb. 4. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. from the Christian church, of which she had been a life-long member. Mrs. Mulkey was the mother of Mrs. J. H. Gill, of Washtucna, C. C. Mulkey of Monmouth, Mrs. H. M. Haller and Mrs. J. M. Booth of Portand. Mrs. Booth is also well known here, having resided here for several years. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 18, 1937, issue Services Held For J. Bazille Funeral services for John William Bazille, 57, Ritzville carpenter, who died Wednesday of last week, were held Monday afternoon at the Haight funeral parlors with the Rev. E. A. Rein officiating. Mr. Bazille's death was due to heart trouble. It was not discovered that he had died until Friday when a friend, failing to see him for two or three days, went to his home and found him dead. John William Bazille was born at White Bear Lake, Minn., Nov. 8, 1879, and came out to Adams county in 1907, 30 years ago. He had followed the carpenter trade since he had been here. Besides his widow, Augusta Bazille, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Otto Roth and Mrs. Ray Stevenson; and four brothers and three sisters. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 25, 1937, issue None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 4, 1937, issue Last Rites Held For Mr. Nauditt Funeral services for Paul B. Nauditt, 51, a resident of Ritzville nearly all his life, were held Tuesday in Spokane from the Hazen-Jaeger parlors. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery, Spokane. Mr. Nauditt died last Thursday in Spokane after a few months' illness. Death was caused by pneumonia. He was born Sept. 4, 1885, in Henderson, Minn., and was brought to Washington when still a baby in 1886. He has been farming around Ritzville for many years. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Nelson, Wallace, Ida.; and Mrs. J. H. Milliken of Chicago; five nieces, five nephews and a number of close friends. Seivers Funeral services for Peter Seivers, 64, resident of Adams county for 48 years who died last Sunday in Spokane, were held at the St. Agnes Catholic church here Wednesday with the Rev. Fr. A. E. Flour officiating. Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. Mr. Seivers had been ill only a short time when his death occurred. He died in a Spokane hospital. He came here from Wisconsin with his father and his brother, Nicholas, in 1889, and settled on a homestead 8-1/2 miles southeast of Lind, where he made his home until seven years ago, when he moved to Spokane. In 1910, he was married to Emma Werner of Marathon City, Wisconsin. Surviving him besides his wife, Emma, are two daughters, Margaret and Dorothy Ann; and one son, William, at the home; three sisters, Mrs. Gertie Johnson, Ritzville; Mrs. Mary Platt, Arlington, Wash.; and Mrs. Nona Ashcraft, Moscow, Idaho. Pallbearers were Harry Snead, Joe Roller, Silas Watkins, Fred Gfeller, Sr., Fred Lenneville and John Shimek. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Haight and Sons, Ritzville. C. F. Anderson Dies In Spokane Charles F. Anderson, 71, resident of this county for more than 40 years, died Wednesday at St. Luke's hospital in Spokane, after a short illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. E. A. Rein officiating. Burial will be in the Ritzville cemetery. Mr. Anderson was born in Sweden and moved to Minnesota at an early age. He has operated a farm near Paha for many years. He is survived by his widow, Barbara; five sons, William, Seattle; Otto, Dan, Gustave and Oscar, Paha; two daughters, Olivia at Davenport and Lillian at home. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Haight and Sons. Lilly Turner Dies In Othello OTHELLO - Mrs. Lilly Turner died Monday morning at her home here after being ill for several weeks. She has been a resident of Othello many years, previously living at Malden, Wash., and St. Maries, Ida. She was an active member of the Eastern Star chapter at Connell, the Pollyanna society and the Milwaukee Woman's club. She is survived by a son, Henry, of Othello, a son in Idaho, a son in Texas and many relatives in the east. She will be remembered as a "grand old lady" and a great friend by her many acquaintances. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 25, 1937, issue Mrs. G. Graedel Dies In Odessa Mrs. George Graedel, 83, pioneer of the Odessa district, died Wednesday at her home in Odessa following a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews Congregational church in Odessa with interment in the Odessa cemetery. Her husband was for many years pastor of the Congregational church on the Packard road at the Lincoln-Adams county line, and Mrs. Graedel has lived here for more than 40 years. Besides her widower, she is survived by four daughters and one son. Last Rites Held For Mrs. R. Lind Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Lind, 37, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Farrier, pioneers, were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church here with the Rev. Richard Decker officiating. Mrs. Lind, a resident of Chanute, Kans., died Friday morning of last week at the Rockwood clinic in Spokane after a lingering illness. Besides her widower, she is survived by three brothers, Leonard, James and Theodore; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Farrier; and two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Proctor and Mrs. Ralph Herring. Gottfried Selcho The following obituary of Gottfried Selcho, who died March 11, was unintentionally left out of last week's paper, and we publish it herewith: Gottfried Selcho was born October 20, 1871, in Kulm, Russia. He was married in 1894 to Justina Prietz. This union was blessed with five sons. In 1906, he came to America and settled in Ritzville. In 1912 his wife died. He married Christina Fink in 1917 and two children blessed this union. Mr. Selcho had been ill several months before his death. He was 65 years, four months and 19 days old when he died. The funeral was held at the Philadelphia Congregational church March 14, with the Rev. H. Nuetzmann officiating. Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. Besides his widow, he is survived by five sons, Emil, Emanuel and Daniel, all of Ritzville; John of Spokane; Rhienhold; two daughters, Alvina and Violet of Ritzville; and one step-son, Clarence Flemming of Ritzville. Funeral Held For W. Leonard Funeral services fro Wayne Leonard, 27-year-old Ritzville youth who shot himself last Friday and died Sunday in Spokane, were held Tuesday morning from the Haight funeral parlors with the Rev. Russell Eylander officiating. Burial was in the Bemis cemetery near Ralston. Mr. Leonard was found lying unconscious in a room in the Leonard house on Adams Street Friday night with a bullet wound in his chest. He was rushed to Spokane by Dr. John R. Flynn and given a blood transfusion by a relative. He failed to regain consciousness and died Sunday morning at the Sacred heart hospital. A brother said Wayne had been despondent for some time, although employment had been promised him within a few days. Mr. Leonard is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dora Leonard, Ritzville; five brothers, including Raymond, Dean, Robert and Howard, all of Ritzville; and four sisters, Mrs. Virgil Sitton, Washtucna, and Faith and Margaret, both at home.
