Mr. and Mrs. Floyd were former residents here. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 9, 1947 Graveside Services Held For Infant Graveside services for Mark Keith, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Michel of Othello, were held at the Ritville Memorial cemetery at one o'clock Monday afternoon with the Rev. F. J. Ahrendt officiating. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 16, 1947 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 23, 1947 Aged Resident Passes Monday Mike Dierheim, age 73, died Monday at 2 o'clock in Spokane at the home of his daughter. Survivors include four sons: John and Adam of Spokane and Fred and Ed of Lind. Daughters ae Bertha Rehn, Lind, and Tillie Klettke of Spokane, also seven grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been made at this writing. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 30, 1947 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 6, 1947 Funeral Rites Monday Honor Mrs. H. Deking Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Deking, Sr., were conducted from the Emanuel Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with the Rev. F. J. Ahrendt officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery. Lena Buscher was born July 16, 1876, in Hanover, Germany. She came to America at the age of 17 and on Nov. 25, 1897, she was married to Henry Deking. She died early Friday morning. She and her husband lived on a farm near Ritzvillle until his death in 1942. In 1944 she moved to Ritzville. She is survived by four sons, Henry, Jr., Walter and Edward of this community, and Arthur of Davenport; two daughters, Elsie at the home and Helen (Mrs. Walter Thom) also of this city; one brother, Ernest Buscher of Spokane and eight grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 13, 1947 Missing Man Found Dead In His Room Lifeless Body of Dace Mahoney, 46, Discovered Tuesday Officers were called to a cabin at the rear of the old Linn resident on Tuesday afternoon to investigate the death of Dace Mahoney, 46, whose lifeless body was discovered earlier that day by Joe Ferri. Mahoney, who had been employed at the Public Market, had failed to report for work for over a week, which prompted Ferri, a fellow employee, to go to his living quarters. The door was locked from the inside but by looking through a window Ferri could see Mahoney's apparently lifeless body on the bed. Officers had to break down the front door to get in and found that Mahoney had evidently passed away several days before. Time of death was officially placed at sometime between the evening of Feb. 4 and the same time Feb. 5, for the copy of the Feb. 4 Spokane Chronicle was inside the cabin and the Feb. 5 copy and succeeding issues, were outside the door. A post-mortem was performed by Dr. W. H. Sweet and officers state that cause of death was a hemorrhage of the stomach. The body was removed to Haight Funeral Home and services and burial are to be at Tekoa where the body was taken Wednesday. His mother, Mrs. Zeta Mahoney, lives at Tekoa and it is reported Mahoney had two minor children living with his former wife. Time for services is uncertain but tentatively set for Saturday. Former Resident Buried At Sprague A former resident was buried at Sprague Wednesday when Bill Plunkett was laid to rest. Plunkett, who live work was a musician, passed away in Seattle from a heart attack, leaving a wife and son. He is the brother-in-law of Vic Wellsandt and Karl Wellsandt recalls that he played at his wedding 40 years ago. His former home was near Keystone but for several years has been playing in a band in Seattle. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 20, 1947 Former Lind Man Dies At Ellensburg Rufus Lane died at an Ellensburg hospital Monday. Mr. Lane will be remembered here as he was a signal maintainer for the Milwaukee railroad several years ago. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 27, 1947 George B. Becker Dies Wednesday At Home Here George B. Becker died at his home here Wednesday after a lingering illness. He was born in Varnburg, Russia, Sept. 11, 1868. He came to the United States in 1907 and has lived in or near Ritzville since. He is survived by his widow, Elizabeth, three sons, Henry of Ritzville, Fred of Harrington, and Emanuel of Odessa; three daughters, Mrs. Katherine Hein of Mohler, Mrs. Maria Derr and Mrs. Margaretha Thiel of Ritzville, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. George Stumpf of this city also. Funeral arrangements were not completed at the time of going to press. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 6, 1947 Final Rites Held Thursday For Fred H. Hardung Funeral services for Fred H. Hardung were conducted from the Philadelphia Congregational church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning with the Rev. R. Kirschenmann officiating. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. He died Feb. 27 in Spokane after a short illness. Mr. Hardung was born Aug. 3, 1875, in Kolb, N. Russia. He came to the United States in 1905. For many years he was a restuarant cook in Spokane and Tacoma, but he usually spent the harvest season in this community and requested his nephew, Pete Miller, bury him here. He is survived by his widow, Fannie, one brother, Henry, at Laurel, Mont., six step-sons, two step-daughters, and nine step- grandchildren. Becker Rites Held Friday Funeral services for Henry H. Becker, who died Feb. 27 after a lingering illness, were conducted from the Emanuel Lutheran church by the Rev. F. J. Ahrendt at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery. Schroeder, Alex Werner, Jake Wilhelm, Henry Hilzer, Henry Koch and George Melcher. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 13, 1947 Bauer Rites Will Be Held Friday P.M. Well-Known Man Passes Away Tuesday Evening Funeral services for Edward Bauer, who died Tuesday evening in a Spokane hospital after a lingering illness, will be held from the Philadelphia Congregational church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. R. Kirschenmann officiating. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. Edward Bauer, son of Mrs. Anna Bauer and the late Conrad Bauer, was born Dec. 12, 1910, in this city. He received his education here being graduated with the class of 1930. On Feb. 6, 1936, he was married to Mrs. Bertha Meyer. He spent all his life here, living on a farm a few miles from the city. He is survived by his widow, Bertha, his mother, Mrs. Anna Bauer, two brothers, Clarence and Albert, and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Skinner and Mrs. Ted Manke, all of this city. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 20, 1947 Mrs. Paul Gering, Pioneer Matron Passes Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Paul Gering, who died Saturday evening at her home after a brief illness, were conducted from the Mennonite church near Schragg Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. M. E. Moser of Spokane officiating. Burial was in the Mennonite cemetery. Matilda Alberta Steffen was born April 1, 1885, in Protowka, Russia. She came to the United States when only 3 years old, her parents settling first in California. In 1882 they came to Oregon and in 1899 they migrated to Adams county with the Mennonite Emigrant train. With the exception of about 15 years spent in Southern Idaho, she spent all her life after that time in this community. She was married April 5, 1905, to Paul Gering. She is survived by her widower, three sons, Adam Walter of this community, Jonathan of Moscow, Ida., and Aaron, Kalispell, Mont.; four daughters, Mrs. Alberta Nickel of Everett, Wash., Mrs. Lillian Kison of this community, and the Misses Larena and Lavina Gering of Spokane; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Hardt of Schragg; three brothers, Edward, Herbert and Walter Steffen, all of Schragg, and six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Haight Funeral home. Music was furnished by the Mennonite men's quartet and pallbearers were John Jantz, Andrew Jantz, J. M. Schrag, Emil Schrag, C. P. Nightengale and Adolph Graber. She was 61 years, 11 months and 14 days old. Sudden Death R.R. Worker Not Murder When John Finneyan, 43, was found dead in his bunk Saturday morning in one of the bunk cars of the Northern Pacific railroad, officers at first thought they might have a murder case on their hands. This theory was later abandoned, after complete investigation, and it was decided the member of the extra gang died from natural causes. The deceased was born Oct. 10, 1904, according to his social security card, but the place of birth is unknown. So far as officers have been able to discover, he had no known relatives in the United States but has a sister in Ireland. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 27, 1947 Mother Passes Away March 21 Mrs. Love C. Davis, mother of Mrs. Will Rosenoff, passed away Friday morning, March 21, at the Rosenoff home in Ritzville. Mrs. Davis has been in ill health for several months and had made her home with her daughter the past year. Funeral services were held Monday at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Jerue funeral home in Cheney, where Mrs. Davis lived for many years. Rev. Dr. H. J. Bass officiated at the services with interment at St. John cemetery. Mrs. Davis took an active part in various activities during her life in Cheney. She was active in the Federated church, the Woman's Relief Corps and the Rebekah lodge. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Rosenoff, and one son, Verne N. Davis of Seattle. She also leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry M. Ross of Cheney, and a sister, Mrs. J. W. Baylor of Colfax. Funeral Rites For Lind Young Man Wayne Franklin Parish, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parish, passed away Thursday morning at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. A. E. Morrison. Wayne was born Sept. 8, 1927, and attended school here. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parish, two sisters and one brother, and grandmother, Mrs. Morrison. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church by Rev. Robert Hicks and burial was in the Lind cemetery.
