A native of Germany, Kraft was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Emma Englehart; two sons, Henry and William; a stepson, Emil Bischoff, all of Lind; a brother, John Kraft in Germany, and five grandchildren. Kraft was a member of the Lutheran church. The Rev. Edward Schmidt of Lind officiated at the services. Kraft had come to America 51 years ago and to the Lind area 45 years ago. Peters Rites Are Conducted Funeral services for Dietrich A. Peters, 72, who died Saturday in the Adams County Memorial hospital, were held Wednesday at the Danekas and Duncan funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lester Janzen officiating. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Born in Nebraska, Peters had lived in this area 49 years. Survivors were five brothers, Henry of Ruff, John of Newport, Ben of Henderson, Neb., Isaac of Dallas, Ore., George of Salem, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Waltner of Monroe and Mrs. Helena Schragg and Mrs. Elizabeth Gossen, both of Dallas. Mrs. Lehman Funeral Held On Wednesday EDMONDS - Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Lehman, widow of the late J. C. Lehman, were held in Edmonds Wednesdsay. Mrs. Lehman died suddenly of a heart attack Monday, at her home near Edmonds. She had been in ill health for some time. Mrs. Lehman was born in Bedford, Ohio, Jan. 26, 1882, married Julius C. Lehman in Cleveland, Ohio, 1899, and came to Adams county with her husband and their three daughters in 1911. They settled on a ranch three miles northeast of Paha where they resided until their retirement in 1939. Mrs. Lehman was a member of the Marcellus Grange and transferred her membership and activities to the Cedar Valley Grange, Snohomish county in 1939. She was also a member of the Church of God, Edmonds, and active in the church missionary society. She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. E. H. Barnett, Seattle, Mrs. Hagen Ely, Olympia, and Mrs. Gordon Speck, Edmonds; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 12, 1956 Othello Man To Be Buried The body of Jack Toohey, 61-year-old Othello resident will be buried in Ritzville Memorial cemetery Friday, it was announced today. Officials at Danekas and Duncan funeral home said none of Toohey's known relatives were able to come to Ritzville or make other arrangements. Toohey died of a heart attack Sunday as he was returning to his home in Othello. Two brothers, Clarence Toohey of Laramie, Wyo., and Gordon Toohey of San Francisco, and a sister, Mrs. W. T. Roth, also of San Francisco, were located. They said they had not heard from Jack Toohey in about 40 years. Services Are Held for Mrs. Shelly Graveside services were held at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery for Mrs. Helena Shelly, who died at her home in Walla Walla Friday, Jan. 6. Mrs. Shelly was a former resident of Ritzville. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. J. Thomas of Spokane, Mrs. Hilda Gilds of San Diego, and Helena Davis of California; two sons, Carl Belmont of California and David Dirks of San Francisco; and a step-daughter, Mrs. E. Rutz of Ritzville. Funeral Held for Mr. Haile WASHTUCNA - Mr. and Mrs. James Murphy, sr., and son, James, drove to Walla Walla Thursday and spent the night with Dr. and Mrs. George Gau. From there they drove to Pendleton and took the train to Weiser, Ida., to attend the funeral of Mrs. Murphy's oldest brother, Vert W. Haile, Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Dwight russell, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiating. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 19, 1956 Walter Haile Dies at Chehalis Home WASHTUCNA - Mrs. James E. Murphy, sr., received word that her uncle, Walter W. Haile, died suddenly Wednesday night, Jan. 11, at his home in Chehalis. Mr. Haile, his brother, Arthur Haile, and a sister, the late Mrs. L. L. Bassett, homesteaded near Cunningham. Walter Haile farmed at one time on what is known as Rattlesnake Flats at the place the Dale Taylors now farm. H. L. Griffith of Washtucna Dies Suddenly WASHTUNCA - Herman Lee Griffith, 56, passed away here suddenly Wednesday afternoon in Washtucna. Danekas and Duncan funeral home is in charge of arrangements which were not completed this (Thursday) morning. Griffith is survived by his wife, Mary, and one daughter, Shirley Ann, at home; a son, Lester Lee Griffith of Quincy, his father, John Griffith of Washtucna; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Helm of Washtucna; and three grandchildren. He was a member of Rimrock grange and the Washtucna Community church. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, January 26, 1956 Henrichs Rites Are Conducted Funeral services for Dick J. Henrichs were held last Wednesday at the Danekas and Duncan funeral home chapel with the Rev. R. W. Reiger officiating. Burial was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Henrichs was a member of Zion Congregational church. Survivors were five sisters, Miss Ada Henrichs of Kirkland, Mrs. May Rains of Spokane, Mrs. Richard Camp of Chewelah, Miss Sena Henrichs of Ritzville and Mrs. Tracie Smith of Spokane. Also surviving were three brothers, Henry and Harry, both of Ritzville, and John of Spokane. Henrichs had been born Aug. 22, 1888, in Germany. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. Griffith Rites Are Conducted at Washtucna WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for Herman Lee Griffith, who died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 18, were held in the Washtucna Community church with the Rev. Russell Booher officiating, Saturday, Jan. 21. Burial was in the local cemetery. Griffith was born April 30, 1901, at Bowling Green, Mo., to John and Margaret Griffith. He came to Washtucna with his parents in 1905 where he has lived until his passing. He was married to Mary Boos on April 19, 1933, at Ritzville and became a member of Rimrock Grange in March, 1933, serving as master for two years, 1951-1952. Mr. Griffith united with the Washtucna Community church Nov. 29, 1953. Surviving are his wife, Mary, and one daughter, Shirley Ann, of Washtucna; one son, Lester Lee Griffith, of Quincy; his father, John Griffith; one sister, Mrs. Paul Helme of Washtucna; one brother, Floyd Griffith of Nine Mile Falls; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Elbert Goodnight Funeral Is Held HATTON - Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 23, in the Connell Methodist church for Elbert Goodnight, who passed away Jan. 18 at the Samaritan hospital in Moses Lake. Goodnight became ill suddenly and was taken to the hospital early that morning, pneumonia claiming his life at noon the same day. Born in Purdy, Mo., on Oct. 24, 1911, Goodnight was the son of Rev. and Mrs. W. F. Goodnight. Coming to Washington as a young man, Elbert attended school for a time in Othello, voing back to the home of his parents in Monett, Mo., where he finished school and also attended junior college. Coming again to Washington in 1927 he farmed at Clyde, Wash. He moved to Hatton 12 years ago where he farmed until a year ago. Goodnight was married in Hatton on June 4, 1944, to Helen (Stone) Campbell of Walla Walla and they lived in Hatton until February of 1955 when they bought the Basin Motor hotel in Moses Lake, which he and his wife were operating at the time of his death. Goodnight was a member of the New Salem Methodist church of Purdy, the Knights of Pythias Lodge of Connell, and the Elks Lodge of Moses Lake. Elbert is survived by his wife, Helen, at the home; by his stepdaughter, Mrs. Earl (Kay) Schoenrock, and her son, Wayne, and a daughter, Dena, of Hatton, and by his mother, Mrs. W. F. Goodnight of Monett; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Cowley of Hatton, one niece, Mrs. Robert (Wilmagene) Primm, and her daughters, Karen, Peggy and Susan of Sacramento, Calif. His father, Rev. Goodnight preceded him in death two years ago this month. Rev. Howard Buck was in charge of services in the church at Connell and at the graveside services in Spokane. Interment was at Riverside cemetery beside his sister, Atrel. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 2, 1956 Funeral Held for Mrs. Mills on Wednesday SPRAGUE - Funeral services for Mrs. Emma W. Mills, 96-year-old Inland Empire pioneer who died here Monday, were held Wednesday at the Sprague Community church with burial at Greenwood cemetery, Spokane. She was living in Sprague with a daughter, Mrs. Park N. Smalley. Mrs. Mills and her husband, Alexander Mills, came to Washington from North Dakota in 1892. They lived at Tacoma and Pullman before settling on a farm near Sprague. Later they moved to Ritzville where they lived for 12 years. Since her husband's death in 1936, Mrs. Mills had lived both with Mrs. Smalley in Sprague and with another daughter, Mrs. Richard B. Ott, in Ritzville. Mrs. Mills was a member of Henrietta chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Sprague and had been a member of the Espicopal church, later. Mrs. Mills also was survived by two sons, T. A. Mills of Sprague and R. H. Mills of Spokane, three grandchildren, Dean D. Williams of Portland, Don M. Smalley of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Willard Hennings of Ritzville, and five grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. R. D. Williams, had preceded her in death. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangments. Funeral Scheduled for Ernest Nissen YAKIMA - Funeral services for Ernest L. Nissen, 63, who died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack at his home in White Swan, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Shaw & Sons funeral home chapel in Yakima. Born in Spokane county, Nissen farmed in the Ritzville area before moving to the Yakima vicinity. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William Wade of Yakima; a son, John, of White Swan; and a brother, Harvey of Vancouver. Funeral Held for Haile, 83 CHEHALIS - William Walter Haile, 83, died at his home Jan. 11. Mr. Haile was born in Billings, Mo., came west in 1889, and farmed near Cunningham for many years. Survivors are his widow, Gertie, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Boyd Jacobs of Olympia, and Mrs. Lawrence Reed of Spokane; also three grandchidren, James and Sherry Jacobs of Olympia, and Lawrence Reed, jr., of Palo Alto, Calif.; two brothers, A. J. Haile of DeLake, Ore., and Dan Haile of New York; and one sister, Maude Valz of Santa Ann, Calif. He was the uncle of Mrs. J. E. Murphy, sr., of Washtucna, and Mrs. Frank Benward of Ritzville. Funeral services were held Jan. 14 followed by cremation. Lamb Rites Are Thursday Funeral services for Hugh Irvin Lamb, 62, longtime Schrag area farmer, were scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Danekas and Duncan funeral home chapel with the Rev. Alfred Carter officiating. Burial was to be in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Lamb fatally shot himself at his farm early Monday morning and died about three hours later at the Adams County Memorial hospital. Born in Iowa March 1, 1893, Lamb had lived in the Schrag area for the past 57 years. Surviving were his sister, Mrs. Florence Johnson at the home; two brothers, Lester of Walla Walla, and Casper of Iowa; and two nieces, Mrs. Emily Fox and Mrs. Louis Seekins, both of Washugal. Funeral Held For Alexander WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for Joseph Alexander, father of Mrs. Josie Huffman of Washtucna, were held recently in the Lacrosse Methodist church with the Rev. Paul Hamlin officiating. Mr. Alexander died Feb. 2 at St. Ignatius hospital in Colfax, where he had been a patient since Dec. 30 when he suffered a stroke. Born Oct. 15, 1876, at Owasso, Mich., Mr. Alexander had lived the past 20 years at Lacrosse after previously living at Hooper and Washtucna. Surviving are three sons, Doyle Alexander of Louisberg, Minn.; Mike Alexander of Spokane; and James (Buster) Welch of Colfax; two daughters, Mrs. Josie Huffman of Washtucna, and Mrs. Nouille Renne of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at the Washtucna cemetery with Rev. Hamblin officiating. Baker Daughter Dies In Spokane SPOKANE - Mary Jill Baker, 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Baker, died here Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at 8 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart church. The Bakers lived in Ritzville when Baker was manager of the Ritzville Trading company. Guy Kramer Funeral Held on Thursday KENT - Funeral services for Guy Earl Kramer, a former resident of Ritzville, who died here recently, were held Thursday afternoon in Spokane with the Rev. Ronald Carr officiating. Burial was in the Fairmont Memorial Park cemetery. When he was about 14 months old Guy made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Will Sickman at Ritzville for several months. He had also lived at Medical Lake and was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Kramer, at the home; one daughter, Marian; and one son, Alvin; also his father, John Kramer of Spokane; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Harwood of Kent, and Amy of California; four brothers, Charley Kramer of Kent, Joseph Kramer of Fruitland, Clarence Kramer of Spokane and Bryce Kramer in the U. S. Marines. He is a nephew of Pete Kramer and Millie Lightel of Ritzville. Funeral Held for Mrs. Kubik Funeral services for Mary Bertha Kubik, 70, who died Monday in the Adams County Memorial hospital, were scheduled for 2 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 9, at Trinity Methodist church with the Rev. Alfred Carter officiating. Burial was to be in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Kubik was born in Minnesota May 29, 1885, and had lived in the Ritzville area for the past 46 years. She was a member of the C. J. Newland American Legion post auxiliary, Marcellus Grange and Trinity Methodist church. Surviving were her husband, M. J. Kubik at the home; two daughters, Marjorie at the home, and Mrs. Ed Haight of Ritzville; three sons, George and Glen, both of Ritzville, and Quinton at the home; six brothers, three sisters and nine grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 16, 1956 Willging Funeral Is held Thursday MOSES LAKE - Funeral services for Jacob (Jake) Willging, 62, former Ruff farmer who had been a construction worker here the past several years, were held last Thursday. Born in Prussia June 24, 1893, Willging came to the United States in 1899, settling at Ruff. He was a veteran of the AEF in World War I. Survivors include the widow, Nellie; a son, Walter who is the merchant marine; two brothers, John of Ritzville and Dan of Pehastin; and five sisters. Interment was at Ruff. Miller Rites Set for Friday Funeral services for Alexander Miller, 85, who died Monday at his home, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Philadelphia Congregational church with the Rev. R. Kirschenmann officiating. Burial will be in Ritzville Memorial cemetery with Danekas and Duncan funeral home in charge of arrangements. Miller was born Nov. 10, 1870, in Kolb, Russia, and came to the United States 48 years ago. Two years after arriving he moved to the Ritzville area where he farmed until retiring in town in 1928. Surviving were the widow, Valijia; two sons, Pete of Ritzville and Henry of Sunnyside; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Miller and Mrs Mary Webb, both of Ritzville, Mrs. Lydia Cunningham of Seattle and Mrs. Emma LaBelle of Spokane; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral Held for Kosanke BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Funeral services for J. F. Kosanke, 70, former Spokane real estate man who lived as a youth in Ritzville, were held here last week. Born in North Dakota, Kosanke was employed at Kiehn's store in Ritzville as a youth of 17. He became a real estate dealer in Spokane and American Falls, Idaho, specializing in the sale of soil properties and leases. He was active in arranging the financing for a number of Spokane buildings, include the Davenport hotel. Kosanke's survivors include a brother, Reinhold, and a sister, Mrs. John Stehr, both of Ritzville. He was also survived by two sons, Harold of Colton, Calif., and Delmer of Bakersfield, and two other brothers, Sam of Cottage Grove, Ore., and David of American Falls. Mrs. Lehman Funeral Held WALLA WALLA - Mrs. Anna Lehman, 90, died Feb. 4 after a brief illness. She was born in northern Russia and moved to Ritzville in 1898 and to Walla Walla in 1943. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Anna Michaelis of Walla Walla, Mrs. Mary Rosenfelt of Sunnyside and Mrs. Katie Alander of Marysville, and two sons, George Lehman of Cashmere and Henry Lehman of Medicine Hat, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mrs. Lehman was the aunt of Mrs. Nick Gross of Vancouver, B.C., and Mrs. Alex Kinzel of Sacramento, Calif. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lehman was a member of the Second Congregational church and the Ladies Aid society. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, with the Rev. Jacob Kessler officiating. Burial was in the Mountain View cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, February 23, 1956 Funeral held for Schrag Funeral services for Jonathan M. Schrag, 71, who died at his home Saturday evening, were held Monday at the Menno Mennonite church with the Rev. Lester Janzen officiating. Burial was in the Menno cemetery. Schrag was the son of Christian and Marcia Graber Schrag and was born in Pretty Prairie, Kan., June 12, 1884. His parents moved from Kansas when he was a small lad to Eugene, Ore., where they farmed before coming to Ritzville in 1900. Schrag was married in 1907 to Fannie Gering, who survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Alvie of Odessa, Clarence of Olympia, and Leslie of Ritzville, and two daughters, Mrs. Walter Jantz and Mrs. Iva Jantz. Also surviving were three brothers, Edward of Odessa, Peter of Dallas, Ore., and Daniel of Pasco; one sister, Mrs. Frank Dyck and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Funeral Is Held for Baby Here LIND - Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon for Gwendolyn Kay, 4-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Floether, who died Sunday. Rites were conducted in the Danekas and Duncan funeral home chapel in Ritzville with the Rev. R. Kirschenmann officiating. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Gwendolyn Kay was born Nov. 2, 1955. She is survived by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christmas and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Floether of Ritzville, her great-grandmother, Mrs. Iva Sitton, and great-grandfather, Robert Hamlin of British Columbia. Rites Conducted fof Smolkowski SPOKANE - Burial was held here Tuesday for J. R. Smolkowski, 74, a former resident of Ritzville who died Friday at his home in Spokane. Smolkowski, a carpenter, lived in Ritzville for a number of years before moving about 15 years ago. He was a step-father to Mrs. Ida Schuler of Ritzville, Mrs. Grace Eason of Portland, and Ernie Heavner of Airway Heights. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 1, 1956 Mrs. Ella Irene Saul Rites Conducted in Lind Wednesday HATTON - Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 29, in the Lind Methodist church for Mrs. Ella Irene Saul, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Adams County Memorial hospital in Ritzville. Had she lived until the next day, she would have been 89 years old. Mrs. Saul, fondly called "Grandma Saul" by all her friends, fell on Jan. 2 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Zelma Williams, and had the misfortune of breaking her hip, which had kept her confined in the hospital. Despite her age, the hip bones were knitting nicely and it was a heart condition that caused her death. Born in Jefferson county, Indiana, on Feb. 26, 1867, Mrs. Saul was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holden. She attended rural schools in Kentucky and Missouri, later attending Boarding School in Canton, Missouri. She was a dressmaker for a number of years, before and after her marriage to Lee Golden on Nov. 13, 1898, at the home of her parents in Rutledge, Missouri. To this union one daughter, Zelma, was born. They traveled a great deal for Mr. Golden's health. He passed away in 1903. On May 7, 1905, Mrs. Ella Golden was married to William Saul in Brewster, Wash. They had two sons, Arthur, who died in infancy, and Charles E. After the death of her husband Mrs. Saul spent most of the summer months with her son in Wenatchee and the winter months here with her daughter, until the last three years, when she lived here with her daughter, Mrs. Williams. Mrs. Saul was baptized into the Baptist church in Walnut Grove, Kentucky, and was an active member in the Sandhills Grange No. 938. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Zelma Williams of Lind, her son, Charles E. Saul of Wenatchee, one brother, John E. Holden of Denver, Colo., nine grandchildren, Mrs. Charlotte Lamson, Jack Williams of Lind, Kathleen and Lee Williams of Pullman, Robert Williams of Lind, Betty Lou Saul of Pasadena, Calif., Margaret and Floyd Saul of Wenatchee. Also three great-grandchildren, Billy Saul, jr., of Spokane, Chuck and Gary Lamson of Lind. Rev. W. H. Ritchey was in charge of the services in the church in Lind and the graveside services at the Sandhills cemetery. Derr Funeral Is Conducted ODESSA - Funeral services for Jacob Derr, 66, who died Saturday in the Odessa hospital, were conducted Tuesday at United Congregational church with the Rev. E. G. Klein officiating. Derr was born July 18, 1889, in Walla Walla and was married to Mollie Scheller in 1913 at Ritzville. He farmed in the Menno area until nine years ago when he retired to Odessa. Surviving were the widow, Mollie; two sons, Floyd and Harold, both of Odessa; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Suchland of Odessa; five grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Odessa and Reuben of Ritzville; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Thiel of Ritzville. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 8, 1956 Funeral For Wilson Held In Wisconsin WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Funeral services were held here Monday for Robert J. Wilson who passed away at his home here Thursday, March 1. Wilson was the father of Journal-Times publisher Bruce A. Wilson of Ritzville. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 15, 1956 Funeral Held For Thiel, 72 ASTORIA, Ore. - Funeral services for Henry H. Thiel, 72, who for many years operated what is now the Pastime Sports Center in Ritzville, were held here March 6 with members of the Elks lodge in charge. Thiel was born in Ritzville Nov. 15, 1883, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Stromberg) Thiel, and attended school here. For some years with his later brother, Fred, Thiel operated a restaurant and cardroom which has become the Pastime. Thiel was married on Nov. 5, 1950, to Grace Pajunen at Vancouver, Wash. Survivors are the widow at the home; a son, Ellsworth of Astoria; a brother, Mike of Ritzville; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Cook of Buhl, Idaho. Mrs. Siegel Funeral Held TACOMA - Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth (Miller) Siegel, 78, who died March 8 at a Tacoma hospital, were held Saturday at the Mountain View chapel with the Rev. A. Tischner officiating. Burial was in the Mountain View Memorial Park. Mrs. Siegel was born at Kolb, Russia, and after coming to the United States lived at Ritzville until 1924. Survivors were five daughters, Mrs. Norma Willa of Tacoma, Mrs. Minnie Bush of Chehalis, Miss Helen Siegel of Tacoma, Mrs. Eloise Allan of Naches, and Miss Anna Siegel of Seattle; and three sons, Adel of Tacoma, Edward of Ritzville, and William of Chehalis. Also surviving were four brothers, Alex, George and J. J. Miller, all of Ritzville, and Peter Miller of Clayton; a sister, Mrs. Emma Vevea of Spokane; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 22, 1956 Mrs. Kruger Funeral Held SPOKANE - Funeral services were held Wednesday for Mrs. Louise Marie Kruger, 81, who died at her home Monday. Mrs. Kruger, the former Louise Marie Plath, was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1890 at the age of 16. She came to Ritzville two years later. She and her late husband, Julius, were married July 24, 1892, at Ritzville where they homesteaded for a number of years, later moving to Chewelah. After moving to Spokane in 1911, he was a machinist for the Northern Pacific railway. He died here in 1935. Mrs. Kruger was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Erma Farley and Mrs. Martha Olsen, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a brother, William Plath. Burial was in the Riverside park. Schoonover Rites Held ODESSA - Funeral services were held Tuesday for Walter H. Schoonover, 75, who died at his home Monday afternoon. Services were held at the English Congregational church. Mr. Schoonover had been the city marshal for 25 years and previously was a miller at the Ritzville Flouring Mills in Ritzville. He was born in Lone Rock, Wis., May 6, 1881, and moved to the Inland Empire about 55 years ago. Surviving are his widow, Emma, and a daughter, Ellen, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Travis of Gray, Ind.; five grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, all living in Wisconsin. Two sisters live in Spokane, Mrs. Mary Shearer and Mrs. Lillie Trantum. Burial was in the Odessa cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, March 29, 1956 Funeral Held for Labes, 75 LIND - Funeral services were held Tuesday for August William K. Labes, 75, at the Good Hope Lutheran church with the Rev. Robert Drewes officiating. Labes was born Dec. 13, 1880, at Blumberg, Pommerania, Germany, the son of Karl and Wilhelmina Wedeward Labes. The family came to this county in 1881. He was a member of the Lutheran church, serving as deacon and elder for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Selda O'Neil of Spokane, and Mrs. Amanda J. Labes of Lind; two sons, Edward A. and Albert W., both of Lind; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Biermann and two brothers, William Labes of Parkland and Charles of Lind. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Funeral Held for Greenwalt PALOUSE - Funeral services for Jacob Greenwalt, sr., of Palouse, who came to Adams county with his parents in 1901, were held last Thursday at Moscow, Idaho. He died March 19. Greenwalt farmed on his parents' homestead 18 miles west of Ritzville until 1938 when he moved to a smaller farm near Palouse. He had been born Oct. 22, 1884, in Russia and was married to Carolina Hochstatter, who survives him, on May 12, 1904. Also surviving are four sons, Jacob Greenwalt, jr., of Ritzville, Christian of Odessa, Henry of Tekoa, and Herman of Palouse; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Hardt of Spokane and Mrs. Laura Gering of Moscow; a sister, Mrs. Katie Basset of Chester, Mont.; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
