Schafer from the chapel of the Danekas and Duncan funeral home in Ritzville. The Rev. Alfred Carter officiated. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Schafer passed away Sept. 27 at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He had resided at his ranch near Ritzville for the past 67 years. He was born at Bickelton 72 years ago. Schafer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Aaron Braun of Ritzville; one son, Ivan Schafer, Ritzvile; three brothers, Joe Schafer and Elmer Schafer, both of Ritzville, and Conrad Schafer of Spokane, and six grandchildren. He was a member of Trinity Methodist church in Ritzville. Fred Koch Dies Here On Wednesday Morning Fred Koch, a resident of the Ritzville area for several years, passed away Wednesday morning at the Adams County Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be announced by Danekas and Duncan funeral home. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, October 9, 1958 John Schoessler Final Rites Held ASTORIA, Ore. - Funeral services were held recently in Astoria for John Schoessler, a former resident of Ritzville, Wash. Schoessler, prior to his retirement two and one-half years ago from the Astoria Marine Construction company, had lived in Astoria 26 years. He moved here from Ritzville where he had been a farmer. He passed away Sept. 29 at a hospital near Astoria. He had not been well for three years. Schoessler, 77, was born on March 13, 1881, in Hitchcock, Neb. He was married Jan. 25, 1905, to his surviving wife, the former Katie Bastron, who resides at the family home in Astoria. Also surviving are two sons, Melvin of Astoria and Reuben of Lind; three daughters, Mrs. R. F. McCrosky, Spokane; Mrs. John Schneider, Sheridan, Ore., and Mrs. Paul Peckstein, Seaside; and a sister, Mrs. Fred Thiel, Astoria; one brother, Henry Schoessler, Ritzville; eight grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Driver Killed In Accident Funeral services were held last Friday from the Mittelstadt Funeral home in Seattle for Jerry Ralph Foote, who was killed Oct. 3 in an auto accident seven miles north of Sprague. Foote made his home in Seattle. He was 53 years of ago. Survivors include his wife, Florence, at the home; two sons, Frank and Gary Foote, both of Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Lou Newby of Seattle; four brothers, Jack, Joe, Jim Foote, all of Spokane, and John Foote in California. He was a member of a Seattle Eagles lodge. His remains were taken to Seattle by Danekas and Duncan funeral home in Ritzville on Oct. 7. Koch Funeral Held Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 4, from the Danekas and Duncan Funeral home chapel for John Fred Koch of Ritzville. Koch, a resident of Ritzville for several years, passed away Oct. 1 at the age of 80. The Rev. Alfred Wagner officiated. Interment was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Sussanna, at the home; five daughters, Mrs. Sarah Charvat of Selah, Mrs. Nathalia Bartow of San Francisco, Mrs. Olga Maley of Thornton, Mrs. Gerald Hagadone and Mrs. Charles McCormick; four sons, Rudy, Bert and Reuben Koch, all of Ritzville, and Carl Koch of Connell; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Koch was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church in Ritzville. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, October 16, 1958 Fred Schaefer Services Held Funeral services for Fred Schaefer, 63, of Ritzville, were held recently from the chapel of the Danekas and Duncan funeral home. The Rev. John Galagan officiated. Interment was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Schaefer passed away Oct. 4 in a Spokane hospital. He was born in Bickelton on Nov. 7, 1894. Survivors include his wife, Florence, at the home; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Schwisow of Ritzville; two sons, M. F. (Bill) Schaefer of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jack D. Schaefer of Seattle; five grandchildren; three brothers, Edwin and Will, both of Ritzville, and Conrad of Post Falls, Ida.; two sisters, Mrs. Al Pinnow and Mrs. Henry Heinemann, both of Ritzville. He was a member of the Ritzville Masonic lodge No. 101, Zenith chapter No. 55 OES, and St. Mark's Episcopal church. He had lived in Ritzville for 20 years and worked as a deputy assessor for the county. He was formerly the Richfield oil distributor in Ritzville. Mrs. Taylor passed away Oct. 24 at the Adams County Memorial hospital at the age of 70 years. The Rev. D. C. Teeter officiated. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangments. Interment was in the Lind cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Allen of Salem, Ohio; Billie of Seattle, George C. of Lind, and James H. of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel McKinley of Berkeley, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Lawrence of Redwood City, Calif.; two brothers, Wallace Weir of Murphays, Calif., and Wade Weir of Linden, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Assembly of God church. Lightbody Rites Held On Tuesday SPOKANE - Funeral services for Harold Wendall Lightbody of Spokane, son of William Lightbody of Ritzville, were held Tuesdsay afternoon at the Alwin chapel of Hazen and Jaeger funeral home in Spokane. The Rev. Robert Wiganosky officiated. North Hill lodge No. 210, F&AM participated in the graveside services in Spokane Memorial Gardens. He was a member of the Euclid ave Baptist church, the North Hill lodge No. 210, F&AM, neighborhood commissioners for the Northeast district, Boy Scouts of America, committeeman for Boy Scout Troop No. 42 and Boy Scout Explorer advisor. Survivors are his wife, Verna (Vivian) Lightbody, at the home in Spokane; his father in Ritzville; a sister, Mrs. Earl Shill, Longview; and three brothers, Alva of Ritzville, Wayne of Spokane and Paul of Odessa. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 6, 1958 Emanuel Meilke Final Rites Held LIND - Funeral services were held Saturday from the Lind Lutheran church for Emanuel Meilke, 82, of Lind. Meilke passed away Oct. 29 at his home after a long illness. He had lived in the Lind district for 45 years. The Rev. Robert Drewes and the Rev. Donald Beake officiated. Interment was in the Lind cemetery. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Maria, at the home; two sons, Arthur and Godfrey, both of Lind; four daughters, Mrs. John H. Schrag of Portland, Mrs. John Maier of Lind, Mrs. Marion Colley of Connell and Mrs. Robert Phillipay of Kahlotus; two sisters in Germany; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Ex-Cunningham Resident Dies LIND - Graveside services were held in the Lind cemetery Thursday for Mrs. Thomas (Mollie) Booker, sr., 82, of Seattle. Mrs. Booker passed away Sunday following a few months illness and funeral services were conducted in Seattle on Wednesday with the Rev. John Paul Pack, D.D. of that city in charge. The Rev. Richard Allen, pastor of Othello Christian church, was in charge of the Lind cemetery services. Mr. and Mrs. Booker were early homesteaders in this area. Mr. Booker preceded her in death in 1951. She is survived by two sons and three daughters and several grandchildren. Ludwig M. Linn Services Friday Funeral services for Ludwig (Louie) Michael Linn, 87, who died Nov. 4 will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Danekas and Duncan funeral home chapel. The Rev. John Galagan will officiate and interment will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. He had made his home in Ritzville for 37 years and worked at the same place of business as a butcher even though the firm changed hands. Mr. and Mrs. Linn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 9 of this year. Survivors are his wife, Jennie; a daughter, Mrs. P.O. Johnson of Tacoma; a grandson, Louis Jones of Ritzville; a brother, Carl Linn in Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Spies in Iowa and Mrs. Otto Walters in Germany; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Schillereff Final Rites Held Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery for Mrs. Pauline Schillereff. She passed away recently at Longmont, Colo. Her body was brought to Danekas and Duncan funeral home in Ritzville Wednesday evening. The Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann will officiate. Danekas and Duncan funeral home are in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Schillereff is the former Mrs. Jacob Lesser and a one-time resident of Ritzville. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 13, 1958 Kembel Rites Held Saturday Funeral services for William Kembel, 73, were held Saturday from the Philadelphia Congregational church in Ritzville. Kembel made his home at 716 E. Bismark, Spokane. He was a former resident of Ritzville. The Rev. Herbert C. Haemmelmann officated. Interment was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Danekas and Duncan funeral home was in charge of arrangements. He was born Sept. 12, 1885, and was a member of the Congregational church. Survivors include his wife, Katherine, at the home; four daughters, Mrs. Alvina Meyer of Ritzville, Mrs. Lorena Crisp of Spokane, Mrs. Nettie Hammond of Spokane, and Mrs. Kathryn Schauer of Pocatello, Ida.; two sons, Frederick of Wenatchee and Paul of Waterville, and 11 grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 20, 1958 Dettman Service Held In Connell CONNELL - Funeral services for William August Dettman, 25, who was killed instantly in an automobile accident over the past weekend, were held Tuesday at the Gideon Lutheran church in Connell. The Rev. Carl Schultz officiated. Interment was in the Desert Lawn cemetery at Kennewick. Danekas and Duncan funeral home of Ritzville was in charge of arrangements. He was born in Ritzville but spent most of his life in Connell, where he attended school and was graduated from the high school. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Dettman of Connell, and a sister, Ethel Dettman of Walla Walla. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 27, 1958 Lesser Services Held In Odessa ODESSA - Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon from Christ Lutheran church for Mrs. Mollie Lesser, 61, who died Monday. Pastor Werner J. Frizt officiated and burial was in the Odessa cemetery. She was born in Walla Walla and went to Odessa when she married Henry Lesser. They farmed in the Black Rock area for many years. Survivors include her husband at the home; two sons, Harold of Marlin and Loren of Spokane; three daughters, Mrs. Eldora Ball, Seattle; Mrs. Laverna Dormaier, Spokane, and Mrs. Janice Schuler of Ritzville; four sisters, Mrs. Katie Walenta, Ritzville, Mrs. Lydia Rutheroff, Portland, Mrs. Leona Clark, Shelton, Mrs. Alice Stewart, Olympia; and three brothers, George Walter, Tacoma, John Walter, Coulee Dam and Adam Walter, Spokane. Sitton Rites Held Recently At Spokane SPOKANE - Funeral services were held for William Fey Sitton Saturday in the Gothic chapel of the Hazen Jaeger funeral home in Spokane, with the Rev. William Woodworth officiating. Central Lodge No. 202 F and A.M. conducted the graveside services. "Uncle Fuzz," as he was familiarly known to his friends, had been ill in a rest home in Spokane for several years. Surviving are his widow, Ann Sitton, of Vallejo, Calif.; two sons, Gene of Lind and Ernest in California; four grandchildren, Donna and Karen Sitton of Lind, Gary and Ellen Sitton in California; two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Breneman in Spokane, Mrs. J. M. Leonard in Portland; three brothers, Ray of Spokane, Owen of St. John, and Irl of Medical Lake. Fey was a member of Central Lodge no. 202 F and AM and a charter member of the volunteer fire department and Rimrock Grange no. 941 in Washtucna. He was born Jan. 15, 1893, in Pike county, Illinois, and came to Washington state in 1898 with his parents. He had lived in Washtucna for about 60 years. He married Georgia Emick in 1914, who passed away in January 1944. Mr. Sitton was married to Ann Coleman in 1949. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, December 4, 1958 Oylear Rites Held At Pasco PASCO - Funeral services were held for Everett Wayne Oylear age 57 of Pasco. Oylear, a resident of this city, passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Pasco. The Rev. Paul G. Nanke officiated at the ceremonies. Burial was in the City View cemetery in Pasco. Oylear was born in Okanogan county on June 9, 1901, and resided in Pasco for the past ten years. He was a plant manager for Inland Navigation company. A World War II veteran, he was a member of the Lind lodge of F and AM, Franklin county Post No. 34 of the American Legion, the 40 et 8 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He belonged to the Christian church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Oylear at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Kelly of Spokane, and Mrs. Betty Kulm of Lind; two sons, Everett Wayne, jr., of Rapid City, S.D., and Gerald R. of Pasco; his mother, Mrs. Nettie L. Oylear of Ellensburg; one brother, Harry L. Oylear of Portland and 11 grandchildren.
