Alfred Carter officiating. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers included Dick Parish, Johnnie Van Slyke, Roy Evanson, Herbert Kent, Allen Scott and Ted McDougall. Erickson died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He was 76. Born in Milton, N. Dak., May 27, 1883, he had worked in the Benge area for approximately 30 years. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are six brothers, Arthur of Benge, Engle, Chris, Lawrence, Otto and Alvin, all of Kennewick and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Tischner Held Here Monday Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Amelia Tischner, who died Wednesday, March 30, while visiting in Sunnyside, at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home. Rev. R. W. Rieger officiated at the services. Interment followed at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Schultz, Sam Mohr, Howard Schoepflin, Harold Schultz, Harvey Mohr and Byron Schoepflin. Mrs. Tischner, a resident of Ritzville for the last 25 years, was born in Russia Dec. 17, 1879. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Koch of Medical Lake and Mrs. Amie Schrag of Ritzville; one son, Paul, of Chicago, Ill.; six sisters, Mrs. Julia Mohr of Grandview, Mrs. Elizabeth Schoepflin of Grandview, Mrs. Lydia Schoepflin of Viola, Ida., Mrs. Christian Armstrong of Harrington, Mrs. Lottie Squire of Salem, Ore.; six brothers, August, John and Herman Schultz, all of Grandview, Louis Schultz of Harrington, Phillip Schultz of Modesto, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Note only five sisters and five brothers were listed) Death Told of Mrs. Kanz in Wenatchee HATTON - Mrs. Gladys I. Vera (John) Kanz, 60, passed away Tuesday evening, April 5, at the Deaconess hospital in Wenatchee after a long illness. She entered the hospital March 6 and had been there since. Mrs. Kanz was born Dec. 20, 1899, to Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson at Yuba City, Calif. She moved to Hatton with her parents and family in July of 1906 when six years old and attended school here through the eleventh grade. Later she was graduated from the Cheney Normal school (now EWC of Education) at Cheney and taught her first school at Waitsburg. Miss Vera Johnson and John R. Kanz was united in marriage on Oct. 8, 1931, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Johnson in Hatton, with the Rev. Charles W. Geizler officiated. The wedding dinner was held at the Harold Johnson home. The couple made their home in Waitsburg and Mrs. Kanz continued teaching school there for a while. They lived at Okanogan for a while before moving to Wenatchee where they have made their home the past several years and Mr. Kanz is superintendent of game wardens. Mrs. Kanz was a member of Astral chapter, OES at Wenatchee and a member of the Methodist church and church activities having played the pipe organ there for several years. Her parents and one brother, Leslie, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, John, a daughter, Judy Kay, and a son, James, at the home; five brothers, Harold E. Johnson of Hatton, Alvin Johnson at Orange, Calif., Walter R. Johnson of Spokane, Donald L. Johnson at Pomeroy, and Arthur C. Johnson of Cunningham. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 14, 1960 Mabel Schafer Services Held Here Monday Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Barbara Schafer, who had lived in Ritzville since about 1900, were held in the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home Monday with the Rev. Alfred Carter officiating. Burial was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Schafer, Louis LaFreniere, Melvin Schafer, Alfred Fode, Mike Hegle and Frederick Domrowik. Mrs. Schafer died Thursday at the Rivercrest nursing home in Spokane at the age of 85. She had lived at the home the last five years. Born in Frank, Russia, Oct. 27, 1874, she came to the United States when she was seven years old and located with her family at Hastings, Neb. Later she moved to Walla Walla and in 1891 married Henry F. Schafer. Mr. and Mrs. Schafer lived in Walla Walla until about 1900, during which time four of their 11 children were born. Then they moved to Ritzville where he worked for Dan Scott on a farm for many years and later worked for the county road department until he retired in 1935. Mr. Schafer passed away in March 1940. Mrs. Schafer was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Margaret LaFreniere of Bellingham, Mrs. Elizabeth Streeter, Mrs. Gertrude McCall and Mrs. Fred Kupers, all of Ritzville; Mrs. Clara Knapp of Harrington, Mrs. Esther Mann of Spokane; two sons, Henry F. of Yakima and William of Arcadia, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. John Borgens of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. George Schmidt of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, George Schafer of Ovid, Colo., and Conrad Schafer of Hastings, Neb.; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. One daughter, May, preceded her parents in death in 1918, and another son, John, in 1949. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 21, 1960 Gehres Rites Are Held HATTON - Funeral services for Russell Walter Gehres were held in the Lee Funeral Home at Pasco Saturday with the Rev. William Ritchey officiating. Burial was at the East Prosser cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Kelsey, Noman Williams, William Curry, Ross Hunt, Jim Harter and Oren Herron. Russel Gehres, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Gehres, was born Sept. 30, 1908, at Lacrosse. He died Wednesday, April 13, in a car accident near Connell at the age of 51. Mr. Gehres lived near Lind and Connell most of his life. He attended the Connell schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1927. On Sept. 30, 1930, he was united in marriage to Miss Geneieve Railsback in Ritzville. In 1932 Mr. and Mrs. Gehres moved to their present home on Michigan Prairie. He was a member of the Pythias lodge at Connell. Surviving are his wife, Geneieve, at the home; a daughter, Mrs. John (Norma) Patterson of Seattle; two sons, S/Sgt. Leighton Gehres of Hampton, Va., and Robert, a freshman at Lind high school; four sisters, Mrs. Edward (Mildred) Klindworth of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Leonard (Lucille) Howard of Richland, Mrs. Sam (Mary) Keller of Kellogg, Ida., Mrs. Harriet Johnson of Prosser; a brother, Adrian C. Gehres of Connell; two grandchildren, Diane and Dale Gehres of Hampton, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 28, 1960 Funeral Services for Mrs. C. Walter Held Here Monday Funeral services for Mrs. Conrad Walter, a resident of the Ritzville and Odessa communities for 57 years, were held at the Zion Congregational church Monday. Rev. R. W. Rieger officiated. Interment followed at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald Koch, Aaron Koch, Wayne Lenhart, Kerwin Ziemer, Vince Nafziger and Bill Schmidt. Mrs. Walter died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital after a short illness. She was 82. She was born in Frank, Russia, April 27, 1878, and had lived in Ritzville and Odessa for the last 57 years after coming to the United States. She and her husband farmed for many years. He preceded her in death in 1956. Mrs. Walter was a member of the Zion Congregational church. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Art Stenckle of Colfax, Mrs. Hannah Ils, Mrs. Helen Ziemer and Mrs. Martha Koch, all of Ritzville, Mrs. Freda Lind of Ellensburg, Mrs. Alma Koch of Wenatchee and Mrs. Loretta Pankow of Maple Valley; two sons, Henry of Marlin and Sam of Wenatchee; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Helena Ewert Service Held Services for Miss Helena Ewert, who died Thursday at the home of P. M. Janzen in Ritzville, were held at the Menno Mennonite church. She was 75. A long-time resident of the Marlin community and a member of the Mennonite church, she was buried at the Mennonite cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor Franz, Albert Franz, Robert Franz, Walter Franz, Arnold Franz and Rudolph Claassen. Miss Ewert was born Feb. 21, 1885, in Marion, S. D., and had lived in the Marlin community 45 years. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Franz of Marlin and Mrs. Agnetha Franz of Ritzville; two brothers, Julius Ewert of Marion, S.D., and Henry J. of Dolton, S. D., and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Robert Fast Funeral Service Held In Hermiston Dr. Robert R. Fast, a former resident of Ritzville, died at his home in Hermiston, Ore., April 14. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. G. B. Fast. A graduate of the class of 1935 at Ritzville high school, Dr. Fast was graduated from the Washington State university school of veterinary medicine in 1942. He later settled in Hermiston where he practiced veterinary medicine for the last 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Edna; two daughters, Virginia and Jeannie, at the home; and his parents in Ritzville. Recitation of rosary was Sunday, April 17, at the Burns Mortuary chapel and funeral mass was held Monday, April 18, at our Lady of Angels Catholic church in Hermiston. Burial was at Mountain View cemetery, Walla Walla. Dr. Fast was a member of the Oregon Veterinarian Medical association, Hermiston Elks Lodge No. 1845, Hermiston Council of Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Hermiston city council. He was born in Ritzville Nov. 23, 1917. Raymond Geissler Spray Rig Victim South of Odessa Raymond E. Geissler, 51-year-old Odessa farmer, was found dead on his farm 10 miles south of Odessa Monday night, April 18, victim of a spraying rig accident. Adams County sheriff Clint Rowe, who investigated the accident, said Geissler last was reported seen alive about 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. A neighbor then saw him driving the spray rig, made from an old combine, up a hill on the Geissler farm. When Geissler, who lived in Odessa, failed to return home that evening, his wife, Beulah, telephoned a neighbor, Otto E. Schoonover. Schoonover followed tracks of the rig and found Geissler's body at about 8 p.m. over the hill from where he had been seen that morning, Rowe said. The rig apparently turned over and crushed him as the outfit was going down hill, the sheriff said. A life-long resident of Odessa, Geissler was a member of a pioneer family. Survivors include Mrs. Geissler, a brother, William Geissler, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Horak, all of Odessa. Funeral arrangements were made by the Strate Funeral Home of Davenport and Odessa. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 5, 1960 Hatton Pioneer Passes HATTON - A Hatton and Othello pioneer, Mrs. A. W. (Frances M.) Hays, 56, passed away in a Shelton hospital April 15. She became suddenly ill while visiting her daughter and family in Shelton. She was born at Hatton June 3, 1903, and lived in the area all of her life, moving to Othello about 1915 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Adams, who homesteaded in Hatton. She was married to Audie W. Hays, Dec. 27, 1922. The couple had five children. Mrs. Hays was a member of the Othello branch of the American Legion Auxiliary. At the time of her death, she was on vacation from her Othello postoffice, a position she had held at intervals since about 1953. She is survived by her husband, Audie W. Hays, city treasurer of Othello; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Stevens of Shelton, Mrs. Vern White of Colville, and Mrs. Robert Gale of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, James A. of San Antonio, Texas, and John W. of Othello; four sisters, Mrs. Cecil B. Woodruff of Warden, Mrs. Eloise Weidner and Mrs. Emery Sills of Spokane and Mrs. Milton Bischoff of Othello; two brothers, Spencer Adams of Sunnyside and Oroville Adams of South Cle Elum and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Hays Tuesday, April 19, at the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. LaVern Brassard officiated. Interment was at the Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens with the Muscott Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 12, 1960 Mrs. Smith's Death Told At Washtucna WASHTUCNA - Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Ted (Minnie) Smith, a former resident of Washtucna, who passed away at her home in Corning, Calif., recently. She is survived by her husband, Ted, a daughter, Jean (Mrs. James Jobe) and five grandchildren, all of Corning and several brothers and other relatives in Spokane. When they resided in Washtucna, Ted owned the Standard service station and they lived in the apartment house now owned by Mrs. Rose Wachtel. They had made several visits back after they sold out to G. C. Johnston, moving from here to Spokane. E. N. Jungblom Service Held Funeral services were conducted Tuesday for Edwin Nathaniel Jungblom, 64, at the Zion Congregational church in Lind. Rev. R. Kirschenmann officiated at the services. Burial was at the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers were J. D. Urquhart, Henry Gerlock, Raymond Fode, Ray Kincaid, Earl Winkler, Sam Pflum and Edwin Jeske. Jungblom was born in Raymond, Minn., Dec. 14, 1895, and had lived in the Lind community 58 years. He died of a heart attack Friday evening. He had been employed by the Union Elevator and Warehouse company for the last 25 years. He was a member of the Eugene C. Kirby American Legion Post. Surviving are his wife, Martha, at the home; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Carbonatto of Seattle; two sons, Pete of Pullman and Bob at home; three sisters, Mrs. L. O. Beard of Oak Harbor, Mrs. A. M. Weyer of Cheney and Virginia Taylor of Harrington; five brothers, Art of Oak Harbor, Carl and Walter of Concrete, Alfred of Oakland, Calif., and Bill of Lind; and three grandchildren. Mrs. William Pence Funeral Service Will Be Tomorrow Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Mae Pence, 75, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Danekas Funeral Chapel. Rev. Alfred Carter will officiate at the services. Interment will be held at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will include Maynard Galbreath, John Rowe, Ed Luiten, Aaron Thiel, Walters Miller and Rudy Rogel. Mrs. Pence died Monday at the Tudor Arms nursing home in Spokane. She had been staying there nearly three years. She was born July 5, 1884, in Elsberry, Mo. Her husband, William, preceded her in death in 1955. He was a long-time employee of the Northern Pacific railway. Mrs. Pence was a member of Trinity Methodist church and the Rebekah lodge. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Walter Wellsandt and Mrs. Clarence Bauer, both of Ritzville; two sons, Paul of Ione and Gerald of Spokane; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ritzville Services Planned Friday for Mrs. E. Olson Two funeral services will be held in Spokane and Ritzville for Mrs. Edith Olson, longtime resident of the Ritzville community who has lived in Spokane for the last 25 years. The first service will be at the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral chapel in Spokane at 11 a.m. The second service will be in the Danekas Funeral chapel at 3 p.m. Interment will be at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Olson died in Spokane early Wednesday morning at her home at the age of 79. She was born Sept. 6, 1880, and came to Adams county with her parents when she was seven years old. She had lived in the Ritzville community 46 years before moving to Spokane in 1933. Her husband passed away in 1929. Mrs. Olson's survivors include on daughter, Mrs. Erma Edgert of Ritzville; a son, Clarence, of McMinnville, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Thom of Bellmont, Calif.; two brothers, Elmer Griffith of Coeur d'Alene, Ida., and George Grifith of Van Nuys, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 19, 1960 Funeral Services Planned Saturday for Kasper Kiehn Funeral services for Kasper Kiehn, 67, of Ritzville will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Philadelphia Congregational church. Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann will officiate. Interment will be at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Kiehn died Wednesday morning at his home. He was born March 13, 1893, in Frank, Russia, and came to the Ritzville community in 1912 where he was a wheat farmer until he retired about 15 years ago. He was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church. Survivors are his wife, Pauline, at the home; one daughter, Mrs. Selma Morrell of Pilot Rock, Ore.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Eugene Schwan, Mrs. Ed Lovik and Mrs. George Foley, all of Spokane; two step-sons, Harold and Clarence Schoessler of Ritzville; one brother, Reinhold Kiehn of Longmont, Colo.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Danekas Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 26, 1960 Services for Mrs. L. Wellsandt Held Here at Lutheran Church Funeral services for Mrs. L. A. Wellsandt, a resident of the Ralston and Ritzville communities for many years, were held Tuesday at the Emanuel Lutheran church. Rev. Albert Wagner officiated at the services. Interment was at the Lutheran cemetery in Ritzville. Pallbearers were Walter Wellsandt, Victor Wellsandt, Chester Templin, Emil Wellsandt, Robert Dehnel, Ben Snyder, Ernest Ziemer, Elmer Irwin and Ed Graham. Mrs. Wellsandt died at the age of 78 Sunday afternoon after recently being hospitalized for pneumonia, which was followed by a stroke. She had been in ill health the last few years. Catherina Wellsandt was born Dec. 26, 1882, at Schleswig Holstein, Germany. In 1905 she came to the United States and the year after she was married to John Jess. They made their home near Billings, Mont. Three children were born to the couple. One preceded her mother in death in early infancy. The family moved near Ritzville and Ralston in 1909. In 1918 her first husband died and in 1920 she was married to Louis Wellsandt. Two children were born to the couple. He preceded her in death in 1943. Mrs. Wellsandt retired from the farm in 1949 and moved to Ritzville where she made her home. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church and Ralston Grange. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Alma Ondracek, Mrs. Helen Knodel and Mrs. Erma Ferderer, all of Ritzville; one son, Vernon, of Washtucna; one stepson, Hans Kahler of Hooper; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Nave of Richland, Ore., and Mrs. Dora Flock of Germany; eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 2, 1960 Mrs. Streeter Becomes Fifth 1960 Fatality The Memorial Day death of a former Lind and Ritzville area resident in a one-car accident 11 and a half miles north of Ritzville on highway 10 brought the 1960 Adams county traffic fatality toll to five - the same number as during 1959. Dead in the accident were Mrs. Hattie Amelia Streeter, wife of Harold E. Streeter. The couple owned a dairy farm near Cheney on the Spangle road. He worked for the Northern Pacific railway at Lind for a number of years and later farmed near Ritzville for about 10 years. Funeral services for Mrs. Streeter, 66, will be today at 3 p.m. at the Alwin Chapel of the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home in Spokane. Interment will be at the Spokane Memorial Gardens. Rev. F. J. Ahrendt will officiate at the services. Danekas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Streeter, 70, who suffered a neck injury in the accident, had not been released from the Adams County Memorial hospital yesterday. State Patrolman Jack Carlson of Sprague said the Streeters were traveling south on higway 10 when the mishap occurred. They were reported to be on their way to Ritzville to visit their daughter, Mrs. Alva Lightbody. Carlson said that as Mr. Streeter, who was driving, was being passed by a Portland, Ore., man, also traveling south, Mr. Streeter thought the other vehicle was going to crowd him and he pulled over on the shoulder. Mr. Streeter overcorrected the 1948-model coach, Carlson said, and the vehicle skidded 26 feet on the right shoulder, then skidded 36 feet in a ditch and rolled over twice through a barbed wire fence on the John Hennings property. During the roll, Mr. and Mrs. Streeter were thrown out of the car and it rolled over Mrs. Streeter. Her chest was crushed and right and left arm Broken, Carlson reported. Mrs. Streeter was born in Napeville, ill., April 1, 1894. She moved to Lind when she was five years old. On July 1, 1912, she married Mr. Streeter. At that time he was working for the N.P. Later they farmed near Ritzville for 10 years and then in 1939, moved to the dairy farm near Cheney. She was a charter member of the Emanuel Lutheran church, a member of the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses and the Paradise Grange at Cheney. Survivors besides the husband, are three daughters, Mrs. Alva Lightbody of Ritzville, Mrs. Harold Roberts and Mrs. Donald Stock, both of Spokane; a son, Richard of Cheney; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Koehler of Walla Walla and Mrs. Reinhold Sundel of Marlin; and four grandchildren. Delmer Liming Services Held Here Tuesday Funeral services for Delmer Liming, 57, a resident of Adams county since 1941 in the Washtucna, Hatton and Ritzville communities, were held Tuesday at the Chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home with Dr. Alfred Carter officiating. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Vernon Tompkins, Elwyn Lyle, Ronald Harman, Lloyd Harris, Terry Reed and Calvin Miller. Honorary pallbearers included Harry Tompkins, Claire Lofgren, Uhel Holliday, Dana Dyer, Harry Cottingham, Oden Hosman, Homer Reed, Lloyd Kinzel, John Kappel, Gus Desposato, Nick Kutas and Jake Harman. Liming died Friday at the Adams County Memorial hospital after a lingering illness. He was born May 23, 1903, in Goodland, Kan., and at the age of three moved with his family to Marmarth, N. D., where he lived until 1927. He then joined his family in Lodge Grass, Mont. There he met and married Edith Wise in 1930. After moving to Adams county in 1941, he worked for the county until illness forced his retirement in 1950. Liming was a member of the volunteer fire departments in Washtucna and Hatton. He also was a member of the Hatton city council and an active member of the Hatton Methodist church. After moving to Ritzville, he transferred his membership to Trinity Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, Edith, at the home; two sons, Loren of Ritzville and Gary of Seattle; four sisters, Mrs. H. R. Sult of Billings, Mont., Mrs. Ray McGuire and Mrs. Paul Mayo, both of Roundup, Mont., and Mrs. Sylvia Hoffner of Richland; three brothers, Glenn of Sheridan, Wyo., Denver of Pomona, Calif., and Vern of Walla Walla; and three grandchildren. His mother of Roundup, Mont., also survives. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 9, 1960 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 16, 1960 Jacob Schmauder Funeral Service Held Here Tuesday Funeral services for Jacob Schmauder, who had farmed northwest of Ritzville for the last 26 years, were held at the Philadelphia Congregational church Tuesday. Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann officiated at the services. Interment was at the Schultz Memorial cemetery at Ruff. Pallbearers were Melvin Kagele, Kenneth Schmauder, Walter Broeckel, Robert Ruff, Larry Schmauder and Robert Broeckel. Honorary pallbearers included Henry Schneider and Emanuel Grams. Schmauder died Friday at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He had been hospitalized one day. Born in Russia on April 24, 1874, he came to the United States 59 years ago and had farmed in the Ritzville-Davenport area 26 years. He was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church. Surviving are his wife, Katherine, at the home in Ritzville; six daughters, Mrs. John Ruff of Wheeler, Mrs. Fred Kagele of Ritzville, Mrs. Edward Broeckel of Colfax, Mrs. Gerhardt Lehman and Mrs. Roy Garke, both of Wenatchee and Mrs. William Wieltschnig of Seattle; four sons, Jake, August and Rudolph, all of Davenport, and Fred of Spokane; 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Fox, 83, a farmer in the Cunningham area for 54 years, will be held at the Nazarene church in Connell Friday with interment at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Rev. T. O. Weatherby will officiate at the 2 p.m. service. Fox died Tuesday at the Jane O'Brian nursing home in Spokane. He had lived there four years. His wife, Rebecca, preceded him in death in 1953. He was a member of the Nazarene church. Fox is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roger Gerwig of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Joseph Wilson of Bremerton and Mrs. George Harvey of Opportunity; one son, Paul, of Cunningham; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Dixon of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. John Beyers of Baldwin Park, Calif. Funeral Service for Mrs. Becker Planned Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Becker, 85, will be held today (Thursday) at the Zion Congregational church in Ritzville at 2 p.m. Rev. R. W. Rieger will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will include Alvin Maier, Larry Maier, Vernon Maier, Larry Klemmer, Bernard Klemmer and Art Pelley. Mrs. Becker died Monday at the Jane O'Brian nursing home in Spokane. She was born Oct. 7, 1875, in Russia and moved to the United States 73 years ago. She had lived in the Ritzville community 70 years. Mrs. Becker was a member of the Zion Congregational church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mary Hughes and Mrs. Ida Wolf, both of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Dora Maier and Mrs. Lydia Klemmer, both of Ritzville, and Mrs. Ruby Smith of Sprague; two sons, Reuben of Spokane and Norman of Milwaukee, Wis.; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 23, 1960 Laib Services Held Tuesday at Philadelphia Funeral services for Edward Laib, 68, wheat farmer in the Warden area who moved to Ritzville to retire in 1948, were held at the Philadelphia Congregational church Tuesday. Rev. Harry Pfeiff officiated at the services. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Emil Wahl, William Wahl, David Sauer, Albert Laib, Raymond Laib and Reuben Scheller. Laib, who died Friday, was born Jan. 5, 1892, in south Russia. He moved to the United States in 1902 and settled near Odessa with his parents. Shortly after, the family moved to a farm near Warden where they homesteaded. Laib farmed there until he retired in 1948 and moved to Ritzville. He was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church and the Lind Grange. Surviving are four sons, Herbert, of Portland, Ore., Alvin of Spokane, Delmar of Warden and Harvey of Ritzville; seven daughters, Mrs. Fred Floether of Lind, Mrs. Godfrey Sackmann of Washtucna, Mrs. Lynn Langenheder, Mrs. Harvey Burghard and Mrs. Lawrence Kiesz, all of Ritzville, Mrs. Kenneth Nix of Kennewick and Mrs. Gary Larsen of Heidelberg, Germany; two brothers, John of Odessa and David of Spokane; and 22 grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 30, 1960 Funeral Rites for Mrs. Beck Held Friday LIND - Funeral services for Mrs. Magdelina Beck, 80, a long-time Lind area resident who died June 21 at St. Luke's hospital in Spokane, were held last Friday at Zion Congregational church here with the Rev. R. Kirschenmann officiating. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Mrs. Beck was born Sept. 14, 1879, in South Dakota and had lived in this area 60 years. She was a member of the Zion Congregational church. Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Johanna Beck and Mrs. Julia Roloff, both of Spokane; Mrs. Reinhold Wahl, Newburg, Ore.; Mrs. Ed Gutschmidt, Wilbur; Mrs. David Sauer, Ritzville; Mrs. John Winkler, Kennewick; and Mrs. John Scheeler, Lind. Also surviving were three sons, Edwin and Fred, both of Lind, and Bennie of Spokane; two brothers, John Schulz, Ritzville, and Ernest Schulz, Spokane; a sister, Sophia Schulz, Elgin, N. Dak.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Danekas Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Roy DeHart Dies; Was Worker Here SPOKANE - Funeral services were held recently for Roy E. DeHart, who died June 22. DeHart was presently a resident of Spokane but had spent much of his life working as a mechanic in Adams county. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Masons. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Zoe DeHart, Pasco; a son, Robert, in the navy; a daughter, Mrs. Irene McPhaill, Portland, Ore.; his mother, two sisters and two brothers.
