Mrs. Thom died Saturday in a Spokane nursing home. She had been there two years. Officiating at the services was Rev. R. W. Rieger. Pallbearers included Marvin Horch, Alfred Horch, Everett Horch, Melvin Denny, Norman Krause and Arthur Stromberger. Interment was held at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Thom was born May 5, 1870, in Minonk, Ill. She came to Adams county with her husband, Marcus, 58 years ago and they settled on a farm southeast of Ritzville. The couple retired from farming and moved to Ritzville in 1936. Mr. Thom preceded his wife in death in 1950. She was a member of the Zion Congregational church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George Horch and Miss Bertha Thom, both of Spokane, and Mrs. Lawrence Schafer of Ritzville; three sons, Pete of Hope, Idaho, Walter and Edward, both of Ritzville; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Heart Attack Claims Life of John Kison A heart attack took the life Sunday of John Kison, 64, well-known county wheat rancher who had farmed in Adams county all his life. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Danekas Funeral Home Chapel in Ritzville. Rev. R. Kirschenmann of Lind officiated. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Reuben Rehn, Carl Heinemann, Martin Meyer, William B. Kautz, Edmond Meyer and Robert Stanfield. Kison was born Aug. 17, 1895, near Ralston and had farmed in the area all his life. He served in the 361st infantry company in France during World War I and was wounded in a battle. He was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church, C. J. Newland American Legion Post in Ritzville, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Spokane, Ralston Grange and Ritzville Gun club. Survivors include his wife, Alice, at the home in Ritzville; a son, Floyd of Ritzville; a sister, Mrs. Clifford Weatherford of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Tafel, of Ritzville and one granddaughter. Clyde Bailey Passes in Spokane Clyde Bailey, a former Ritzville farmer, died July 2 in Spokane. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ada Bailey, and his sister, Mrs. Bonnie Striver of California. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 14, 1960 Levi Sutton Services Held at Washtucna Funeral services for a pominent Adams county rancher, Levi Sutton, 61, were held yesterday at the Washtucna Community church. Sutton, who had retired about four years ago from farming and moved to Spokane, died Saturday in St. Luke's hospital after a lingering illness. Officiating at the services were Rev. William Woodworth, Rev. A. K. Walborn and Rev. Russell Booher. Cremation in Spokane followed. Pallbearers were Edwin Schaefer, Mason Ray, Floyd Cameron, Fred Beckner, Wilbur Copp and B. D. Richmond. Born in the Fletcher community in Adams county Dec. 11, 1898, Sutton farmed about seven miles north of Washtucna until his retirement. He was a member of the Washtucna Community church, Masonic Lodge of F&AM 202 in Washtucna and served as lodge secretary for 19 years. He also was deputy to the grand master of the state of Washington F&AM, the El Katiff Shrine in Spokane and a past member of Grange No. 941 in Washtucna. He was graduated from Washington State University. Surviving are his wife, Gladys, at the home in Spokane; two daughters, Bessie Allen of Washtucna and Mary McFarland of Klamath Falls, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Wright of Seattle and Mrs. Ruth Waters of Bellevue; his step-mother, Mrs. B. L. Sutton of Seattle; two step-brothers, Frank Lawton of Seattle and Robert Lawton of Washtucna; and five grandchildren. Kiehn Services Will Be Today in Ritzville Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Kiehn, who died Monday at the Adams County Memorial hospital, will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Philadelphia Congregational church. Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann will officiate. Interment will be at Ritzville Memorial cemtery. Pallbearers will include Carl Kiehn, William Oestreich, Orville Luiten, Earl Luiten, Fred Luiten and Carl Eckhardt. Mrs. Kiehn, whose husband, Kasper, died May 16, was born May 19, 1894 at the Charles Schmidt ranch west of Ritzville and was educated here. In 1914 she was married to Jacob Schoessler and five children were born to the couple. They farmed a half mile from her birthplace. He preceded her in death in 1921. She then was married to Mr. Kiehn in November, 1923, and they farmed on the Schoessler place. One child was born to the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Kiehn retired from farming about 15 years ago and moved to Ritzville. She was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church and the Grandmother's club. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Eugene Schwan, Mrs. Ted Lovik, and Mrs. George Foley, all of Spokane, and Mrs. Eldon Morrell of Pilot Rock, Ore.; two sons, Harold and Clarence Schoessler, both of Ritzville; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph Unger and Mrs. Frieda McCullough of Spokane, Mrs. Herman Miessner of Chehalis and Mrs. Marvin Cox of Tacoma; three brothers, William, Harold and Albert Schmidt, all of Ritzville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Danekas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. John D. Adams Death Told HATTON - Word was received recently here of the death of an early Hatton pioneer, John D. Adams, on June 29, in a Spokane hospital. His home was in Othello. He moved there in 1915. A daughter, Mrs. A. W. (Frances) Hays, born in Hatton in 1903, preceded her father in death on April 15. Adams is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Blye Woodruff, Warden; Mrs. Lottie Sills, Mrs. Eloise Weidner, both Spokane, and Mrs. Evelyn Bischoff, Othello; two sons, Spencer Adams, Sunnyside, and Orval Adams, Cle Elum; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 21, 1960 Pauline Kent Services Held here Monday Funeral services for a long-time Benge resident, Mrs. Pauline Christine Kent, 76, were held Monday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home in Ritzville with Rev. William Woodworth officiating. Mrs. Kent died Friday at the Palouse nursing home in Colfax after a lingering illness. She had been living at the home nearly two months. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Scott, James Clinesmith, Keith Connell, Allen Scott, Frank Connell and Dick Parish. Mrs. Kent was born in Centralia, Ill., June 1, 1884. On Jan. 15, 1908, she was married to Charles Kent and that year the couple moved to a farm he had homesteaded north of Benge. Mr. and Mrs. Kent moved in 1928 to a farm one mile south of Benge and had lived there since. She was a member of the Benge Community church. Surviving are her husband at the home; four daughters, Mrs. Dewey Bruihl, Mrs. Walter Haspedis and Mrs. John McWilliams, all of Spokane, and Mrs. Keith Honn of Benge; three sons, Wilbur, Herbert and Alfred, all of Benge; three brothers, R. L. Panzau and Robert Panzau, both of Centralia, Ill., and Gustave Panzau of Danville, Ill.; and 16 grandchildren. Two children died during early childhood and a son was killed during action in World War II. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 28, 1960 Mary Meilke Services Set Friday at Lind Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sackman Meilke, 80, a resident of the Lind community for 47 years, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Good Hope Lutheran church in Lind. Rev. Donald Beake will officiate at the services. Interment will be at the Lind cemetery. Mrs. Meilke died Tuesday at the Adams County Memorial hospital after a lingering illness. She had been in the hospital 14 days. Mrs. Sackman was born July 11, 1879, in Russia to Christopher and Dorothiea Sackman. She was married to Christopher Meilke in 1902 in Russia and they came to the United States and settled at Lind in 1913. Mr. Meilke preceded her in death in 1958. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. J. H. Schrag of Portland, Ore., Mrs. John Maier of Lind, Mrs. Marion Colley of Connell and Mrs. Robert Phillippay of Kahlotus; two sons, Arthur and Godfrey Meilke, both of Lind; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Schoessler of Sunnyside and Mrs. Ed Wahl of Lind; three brothers, Adam Sackman of Sunnyside, John Sackman of Sedro Woolley and William Sackman of Davenport; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grand- children. Danekas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 4, 1960 Mrs. A. B. Davis, Lind, Killed in One-Car Wreck Near City Tragedy struck in a Lind family for the second time in four years. Mrs. A. B. Davis of Lind became the sixth traffic fatality in Adams county Monday morning when she died from injuries received when the car she was driving went off the experiment station road 11.9 miles southeast of Ritzville, rolled and pinned her underneath. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis, 56, will be at the Lind Methodist church today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. The Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Davis was the victim of a shooting in October, 1956. Henry M. Griffith was sentenced to death after being found guilty on a murder charge. Griffith is now waiting at the state penitentiary in Walla Walla for the answer to an appeal filed in the U. S. Circuit court of appeals in San Francisco, Calif. Mrs. Davis apparently was coming to work in Ritzville when the accident occurred. She was employed at the Grange Insurance agency near Marcellus Grange Supply by Virgil Sitton. State Patrolman Doug Treichel said her 1955-model station wagon was northbound on county road No. 12 when it went to the right in loose gravel and into the right-hand ditch and rolled onto the right side. Mrs. Davis was partially thrown out the right door and pinned between the door and body of the vehicle and the ground, Treichel said. Mrs. Leonard Roth, a friend of the family who lives near the accident scene, saw Mrs. Davis pass her farm about 9 a.m. that morning. When Mrs. Roth was on her way to Moses Lake about 11:30 a.m. she discovered the wreckage, Treichel reported. Ona Gladys Gilman was born Oct. 11, 1903, at Hartline. She had lived in Lind 30 years. Besides working for the insurance agency, she was the vehicle licensing agent for the county auditor in Lind. She was a member of the Lind Methodist church, a past worthy matron of the Margaret Wadsworth chapter, OES, at Lind; a past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge No. 231 at Lind; a past chief of the Pythian Sisters at Lind; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Lind Grange. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen DeVore of Lind; a son, Dave, of Lind; a sister, Mrs. Effie Weaver of Wilson Creek; three brothers, Louis Gilman of Wilson Creek, Tony Gilman of Priest River, Idaho, and Howard Gilman of Okanogan, and 10 grandchildren. Rev. W. H. Ritchey will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers include Allen Deaton, Gene Sitton, Russell Cline, Oliver Abney, Kenneth DeVore and Lester Snauffer. Services Held for Hollenback in Washtucna WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for Fred Melvin Hollenback, 75, farmer and worker in the Washtucna community for the last 18 years, were held Tuesday at the Washtucna Community church with the Rev. William Woodworth officiating. Interment was at the Washtucna cemetery. Pallbearers were John Gray, Joe Gray, Ralph Goldsmith, Ralph Gillis, Fred Beckner and K. L. Day. Hollenback died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He was born on March 21, 1885, in Wymore, Neb. On Dec. 15, 1909, he married Jennie Louise Roth at Arlington, Neb. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. The couple moved to Spokane in 1923 and for the last 18 years have made their home in Washtucna. In 1953, Hollenback became a member of the Washtucna Community church. He also was a member of the Neighborhood Grange at Mica. He is survived by his wife, Jennie, at the home in Washtucna; three daughers, Mrs. James Howard and Mrs. Nathan Longfield, both of Spokane, and Mrs. John Kuster of Washtucna; four sons, Mark of Spokane and Melvin, Orville and Thomas of Washtucna; two brothers, Carl of Monteray, Calif., and Paul of Spokane; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Smith of Seattle; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 11, 1960 Funeral Services for Mrs. Kinzel Held Yesterday Funeral services for Mrs. John Kinzel, resident of the Ritzville area since 1913, were held yesterday at Danekas Funeral home in Ritzville with Rev. Werner Fritz of Odessa officiating. Mrs. Kinzel died Saturday evening at the Rivercrest nursing home in Spokane. She had been there about five months. Interment was at the Odessa cemetery. Pallbearers included Fred Langenheder, Alex Miller, Albert Nauditt and G. F. Weber. Wilhelmine Caroline Horn was the first chil of Rev. and Mrs. Carl A. Horn. She was born Sept. 13, 1890. On Sept. 11, 1913, she married John Kinzel in Odessa and the couple had farmed west of Ritzville since that time. Surviving are her husband, John, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Franson of Spokane and Irene Kinzel of Ritzville; two sons, Richard and Walter, both of Ritzville; four sisters, Mrs. Katie Zier of Davenport, Mrs. Gus Franke of Spokane, Mrs. Agnes Rummer of Tacoma, and Mrs. Ruth Jayne of Laramie, Wyo.; four brothers, Carl Horn of Davenport, Chris Horn of McMinnville, Ore., Rev. Albert Horn of Rochester, N.Y., and Martin Horn of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Luther Morgan Services Held WASHTUCNA - Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kutas and Cindy were in Kirkland Friday and Saturday where they were called by the death of Mrs. Kutas' father, Luther Morgan, a former Washtucna resident. Morgan passed away Aug. 4 at a nursing home in Kirkland. Graveside services were held at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle Aug. 6 with the Rev. C. C. Shoemaker officiating. Morgan was born dec. 23, 1872, in Indiana and would have been 88 years old at his next birthday. He passed away after a lingering illness. Mrs. Morgan preceded him in death July 3, 1951, and a son, Harry, passed away Feb. 6. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nick Kutas of Washtucna; a brother, Millard of Cheney; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Taylor Service Set Friday Funeral services for George C. Taylor, 35, a Lind residnet who died in an automobile accident between Walla Walla and Pasco Monday, will be at the Lind Assembly of God Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. R. L. Busch Funeral Here Today Funeral services for David Busch, 52, a resident of the Ritzville and Marengo communities for the last 15 years, will be at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. Busch died in the Adams County Memorial hospital MOnday after a lingering illness. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 18, 1960 Busch Service Held Thursday In Ritzville Funeral services for David Busch, an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad and resident of the Ritzville and Marengo communities for the last 15 years, were held at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home Thursday. Busch died at the Adams County Memorial hospital Aug. 8 after a year's illness. He was 52. Officiating at the services was Rev. Alfred Waln. Pallbearers were Alex Werner, Henry Hays, Ted Miller, Clarence Stratton, Don Doyle and Jim Jones. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Busch was born Dec. 31, 1908, at Hartford. He was married to Elsie Smith Sept. 10, 1953. An employee of the railroad for many years, he had lived in the Ritzville area for the last 15 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Ritzville. Survivors are his wife, Elsie, at the home in Marengo; one daughter, Lydia E. Busch, at the home; a son, Richard, at the home; a step-daughter, Shirley Smith of Spokane; a step-son, Buster Smith, at the home; an adopted daughter, Theresa, at the home; his father, Jacob, of Startup; a sister, Mrs. Lydia Hilton of Marysville, and two brothers, Samuel and Daniel, both of Portland, Ore. Lind Services Held Friday for G. C. Taylor Funeral services for George C. Taylor, 35, a prominent Lind farmer who died from injuries received in an automobile accident near Wallula Aug. 8, were held at the Assemby of God church in Lind Friday. Rev. R. L. Potter officiated at the services and was assisted by Rev. F. C. Jay of Seattle, with concluding graveside services at the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers were John Wilson, J. L. Nutting, J. C. Snead, Lee Wells, Vance Hurt and Jake Rehn. Taylor was born June 22, 1925, to James and Mabel Taylor at Lind. He attended Lind high school and on Sept. 12, 1951, was married to Derla Mae Kanzler. The family farmed 12 miles south of Lind. He was a member of the Lind Assembly of God church, and was president of the Men's Fellowship and Sunday school secretary. He also was a member of the Toastmasters club. Surviving are his wife at the home; a daughter, Bonnie, at the home; and three brothers, Allen of Phoenix, Ariz., William of Seattle and James of Sunnyvale, Calif. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 25, 1960 Services Held for Resident Here Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite Wellsandt, 71, a resident of Adams county for 58 years, were held Saturday at the Emanuel Lutheran church. Rev. Albert Wagner officiated at the services. Interment was at the Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were Alvin Maier, Robert Dehnel, Carl Schell, Edwin Dehnel, William Eckhardt and Edward Thom. Honorary pallbearers included Richard Dehnel, Jake Eckhardt, Elmer Heimbigner, Paul Teske, Frank Woodside and John Freese. Mrs. Wellsandt, who died last Thursday, was born in Franke, Russia, Feb. 1, 1889. She came to the United States with her family when she was four years old and settled in Lincoln, Neb. After living there three years, the family moved to Walla Walla where they lived for six years. Then in 1902 they moved to Adams county to farm. Mr. and Mrs. John Wellsandt were married April 22, 1914. They lived on a ranch near Ritzville, where their son, Kermit, now farms, until they retired in the fall of 1954. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church and the Faith chapter at the church. Surviving are her husband, John, at the home; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Benzel of Ritzville; a son, Kermit, of Ritzville; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Bastron of Tacoma, and Mrs. Pauline Wellsandt of Dayton; and six grandchildren. Funeral Held for Ben Wirth HATTON - Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Connell Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 23, for Ben Wirth of Connell, formerly of Hatton. The Rev. Darrell Iwerks officiated. Interment was in the Connell cemetery. Wirth passed away in Spokane Saturday afternoon at the Deaconess hospital, where he had been a patient for some time. He was a member of the Connell Methodist church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Herman Klindworth of Hatton, and Mrs. James Johnson of Connell; two sons, Earl and Norman, both of Connell; one brother, Ernst Wirth of Connell; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, September 1, 1960 Edwards Rites To Be Friday A heart attack at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning took the life of R. E. (Skinny) Edwards, 64, well-known Ritzville businessman who had been active in the community many years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Interment will follow at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Rev. Alfred Waln will officiate at the services. Edwards, who had been county clerk two terms and a postoffice employee from 1930 to 1936 before entering the insurance business, had planned to retire on his 65th birthday Oct. 11. Services are Held for Mrs. Harter at Pasco Chapel HATTON - Mrs. Pearl Harter, 79, of Kahlotus, died Thursday morning, Aug. 25, in the hospital at Richland. She was born Nov. 30, 1880. Mrs. Harter and her husband, George, farmed in the Sand Hills area east of Hatton before moving to Kahlotus several years ago. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Viola) Aiken of Colfax, Mrs. Pearl Kimberly of Southwick, Idaho, Mrs. Henry (Vivian) Milam of Hooper, and Mrs. Margarite Cain of Lacrosse; five sons, Ted Harter and Jim Harter of Pasco, Harold Harter of Kennewick, Gene Harter of Walla Walla, and Don Harter of Kahlotus; 14 granddaughters, 14 grandsons and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Harter preceded his wife in death on Dec. 17, 1956. Funeral services were conducted from the Bruce Lee Memorial chapel at Pasco by Rev. L. D. Phillips, and concluding services by Rev. Merrill Womach. Interment was at the Desert Lawn Memorial cemetery at Kennewick. Pallbearers were Oren Herron, Robert Herron, N. J. Williams, Howard Cannon, Andrew Lewis, and Joe Robbins. Edwards Services Held, Career Spans Many Activities Funeral services for R. E. (Skinny) Edwards, a well-known Ritzville resident who served the city for many years, were held Friday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Waln officiating. Edwards died suddenly Wednesday morning, Aug. 31, of a heart attack shortly after he began work at the Adams County Insurance Agency. He was 64. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Bert Kendrick, Edward Cross, Donald Danekas, Don Low, Jim Kadlec and Jake Hoefel. Honorary pallbearers included Elmer Schoessler, Bill Thiel, Wally Proctor, Albert Wolsborn, Robert Newland and Jack Kittel. Ray Ellsworth Edwards was born in Walla Walla on Oct. 11, 1895, and moved to Ritzville with his parents, James Samuel and Nora (Harris) Edwards in the spring of 1898. He resided here since that time. He attended the Ritzville schools and was graduated from Ritzville high school in 1916, where he was a member of the undefeated basketball team of 1915-16. He enlisted in the air corps during World War I and afterwards returned to Ritzville and was appointed deputy clerk of the superior court and served until 1926, when he resigned to accept the position of assistant postmaster. In 1932 he was appointed postmaster at Ritzville. In July 1936, he purchased an interest in the Adams County Abstract and Insurance company and was elected the manager of that corporation. The company sold the abstract portion of the business and renamed the corporation The Adams County Insurance Agency. Early this year he sold his interest in the insurance agency to Don Low and planned to relinquish the management and retire in October. In 1924 he was married to Gertrude Morach, who survives him with two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Stage of Hoquiam and Mrs. Marilyn Schoesler of Ritzville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and his brother, S. E. (Skee) Edwards of Ritzville. He was a active member of Trinity Methodist church and served on the official board many years. He was a member of the chamber of commerce, served on many committees and was vice president of the oganization one year. As a member of the Lions club he had a perfect attendance record for almost 20 years and always was interested in civic improvement and activities. He served as city councilman followed by eight years as mayor of Ritzville. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Adams County Historical Society. County Farmer Passes Sunday After Illness Reinholt Grams, a wheat farmer in the Ralston area since he moved to Adams county 52 years ago, died Sunday at the Adams County Memorial hospital after a short illness. He was 71 years old. Funeral services were held at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home Tuesday with the Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann officiating. Interment was held at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Mann, Arthur Roloff, Otto Grams, Elmer Mann, Alfred Wiest and Ronnie Grams. Grams, who resided at 108 S. Clark, was born April 3, 1889, in south Russia. He moved to Adams county 52 years ago and had farmed near Ralston until he retired in 1951 and moved to Ritzville. On Sept. 29, 1915, he married Mary Mann in Spokane. He was a member of Philadelphia Congregational church. Surviving are his wife at the home; five daughters, Mrs. Robert McNutt of Benton City, Mrs. Herb Gross of Ritzville, Olive Grams of Spokane, Mrs. John Imler of Medical Lake and Mrs. Lorraine Gubler of Camarillo, Calif.; a son, Adolph, of Berrien Springs, Mich.; a brother, Emanuel of Ritzville; and three sisters, Mrs. Dan Roloff of Ritzville, Mrs. Mike West of Ritzville and Mrs. Jake Renford in Germany. Mrs. Keeling Services Held at Church Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Mary Keeling, 93, a resident of the Hatton and Lind communities for many years, were held Saturday at the Lind Methodist church. Mrs. Keeling died Wednesday, Aug. 31, at a Spokane nursing home where she had been since June. Rev. R. W. Richey officiated at the service, followed by interment at the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers wee Waldon Eden, Wendell Longmeier, Ray Watkins, Charles Rushmeier, Ben Gross and Gene Sitton. Mrs. Keeling was born in Georgia Sept. 16, 1867, and was reared on a farm in Missouri. She married Albert Keeling in 1886 in Missouri and they homesteaded in Hatton. The couple moved to Stevens county for a short time before moving back to Lind. Mr. Keeling, who worked on farms in this area most of his life, preceded his wife in death in 1957. Four of the eight children born to the couple also preceded her in death. Surviving are twin daughters, Mrs. Clara Payne of Marysvile, and Mrs. Cora Hoezel of Milwaukee, Wis., and another daughter, Mrs. Chuck Carpenter of Spokane; a son, Leonard of Lind; three brothers, Will Hays of Othello, Bob Hays of Hatton and Earl Hays of Ukiah, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Fechner of Washtucna were held Friday at the Washtucna Community church with Rev. William Woodworth officiating. Interment was held at the Shoshone, Idaho, cemetery. Fechner, a worker and farmer in the Washtucna area, died Wednesday at the Adams County Memorial hospital after a two-day illness. He was 53. He was born July 6, 1907, in Texas and was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Harriet, at the home; three daughters, Miss Cynthia Fechner of Vacuaille, Calif., Miss Geneva Fechner of Seward, Alaska, and Mrs. Gaylor Beede of Junction City, Ore.; and one brother, Walter, of Dietrich, Idaho. Word Received of the Death of Mrs. Street CUNNINGHAM - Fred Damon received word of the death of his sister, Mrs. Bertha Street, of Salem, Ore., a former long-time resident of Adams county. Mrs. Street had lived in ill health for a number of years. The last time she visited here was to attend the golden wedding anniversary of her brother in 1954. Mrs. Street came to Adams county in 1899 with her parents, the John Damons, and sisters and brother. They homesteaded on a section of land near the farm where Bob Phillips now lives. Mrs. Street taught school at Cow Creek, Cunningham and the Highland school. She married Arthur Street in 1902. They later moved to Washtucna, where they farmed for several years. The couple later moved to Weston, Ore. After Mr. Street's death in 1936, she moved to Salem to be near her daughters. She is survived by her brother, Fred Damon, of Cunningham; four daughters, Mrs. Sietz, Mrs. Alma Davis and Mrs. Sides, all of Salem, and Mrs. Mildred Roos of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. William Lightbody Services Tomorrow at Danekas Chapel Funeral services for William Alva Lightbody, a wheat farmer in Adams county for many years, will be held at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. Rev. Albert Wagner will officiate at the Friday service. Interment will be at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Lightbody died Monday of a stroke at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He was 78. He was born Sept. 10, 1882, in Daykin, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lightbody, deceased. He was married to Ada Olson in Ritzville, Feb. 20, 1907. She died in an automobile accident in 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Lightbody had joined Emanuel Lutheran church in December, 1945. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Earl Schell of Longview; three sons, Alva of Ritzville, Wayne of Spokane, Paul of Odessa; two sisters, Mrs. August Christensen of Ritzville and Mrs. Florence Seeley of Chewelah; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Rev. Alfred Waln will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. The Danekas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dessi Haile Benward was born to Mr. and Mrs. Newton C. Haile Jan. 20, 1895, in Billings, Mo. She attended school in Billings, Missouri and at the old Hiland school seven miles west and three miles south of Providence. On Feb. 2, 1903, she was married to Frank Benward in Ritzville. The couple farmed near Washtucna for 28 years before retiring 13 years ago and moving to Ritzville. Mrs. Benward was a member of the Methodist church. She was a past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge in Washtucna and a past oracle of the Royal Neighbors in Ritzville. Surviving are her husband at the home; a daughter, Mrs. Guyla Taylor of Spokane; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Howes of Grangeville, Ida.; Mrs. Ethel Mulderig of Tacoma, Mrs. J. E. Murphy of Washtucna and Mrs. Scott Shopshire of Santa Ana, Calif.; a brother, Jack Haile of Tacoma and two grandchildren. Also surviving are four half-sisters, Mrs. Olive McClancy and Mrs. Elsie Steury, both of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Marionville, Mo., and Mrs. Lucille Kronewetter of South Bend, Ind.; and two half-brothers, Bert Haile of Republic and Walter Haile of Corpus Christie, Tex. Weber Service Set Saturday Funeral services for Adams Weber, 94, retired wheat rancher in Ritzville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Philadelphia Congregational church with Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann officiating. Weber died Wednesday afternoon at his home at 204 East Tenth. Interment at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery will follow the service. Area Resident for 52 Years Passes Here Funeral services for a long-time resident, Mrs. Philip Werner, 88, were held at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Rev. R. W. Rieger officiated at the services. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers included Ralph Streeter, Fred Schell, Henry Leisle, Dave Kramer, Fred Kramer and John Kramer. Mrs. Werner died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital. She had been there 66 days. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Abel, Katherine Werner was born Sept. 1, 1872, in Warrensburg, Russia. Mr. and Mrs. Werner were married Jan. 29, 1891, in Warrensburg, nearly 18 years before they came to the Ritzville area to settle. The Werners came to Canada in 1908, and moved to Adams county on a farm near Crab creek the next year. The couple farmed on Crab creek for several years before moving to Ritzville when he quit farming to become a carpenter. He retired 10 years ago and preceded her in death on Feb. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Werner celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary Jan. 29. Mrs. Werner was a member of the Zion Congregational church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Phil Kukes of Toppenish, Mrs. Carl Thaut of Ritzville, and Mrs. William Koch of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Alex and Ruben, both of Ritzville; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Services Held for Infant WASHTUCNA - Lauri Lee Chandler, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max R. Chandler of Omak, died in the Children's Orthopedic hospital in Seattle Thursday at the age of two months. She was born in Omak July 10. Graveside funeral services were held at the Omak Memorial cemetery Monday wtih Rev. Richard Litherland officiating. Surviving are her parents, one brother, Mark R., all of Omak; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Chandler of Colville and Mr. and Mrs. William Sutherland of Washtucna; her great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Morgan of Benge, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Spruge of Clarkston, and Mrs. Mallory, also of Clarkston; and a number of aunts and uncles.
