Mrs. Hardy died Monday afternoon at the Adams County Memorial hospital. She had been hospitalized since Feb. 9. Rev. R. Kirschenmann will officiate at the services. Interment will be at the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernest Heider, George Haugen, Keith Weston, Earl Todd, Joe Hays and Ed Jeske. Mrs. Hardy was born on Oct. 29, 1909, at Belleville, Kan., to Dr. and Mrs. Clarence Henderson. She was graduated from Lind high school and went on to Washington State university, where she received a degree in 1924. She and Thomas Hardy were married at Lind on Aug. 17, 1928. She was a member of the Congregational church at Lind and Margaret Wadsworth chapter No. 225, OES. Surviving are her husband at the home; two sons, Donald of Arcata, Calif., and Charles of Olympia; and three grandchildren. Services Held for Rosenoff Here Tuesday Funeral services for John Rosenoff, 75, life-long resident of the Ritzville area, were held Tuesday at the Zion Congregational church. Rosenoff, a farmer all his life, died Sunday at the Adams County Memorial hospital of heart trouble. He had been ill about two weeks. Rev. R. W. Rieger officiated at the services. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry and Martin Wolsborn, Alex Miller, Howard Ragsdale, Solly Adler and Bill Rosenoff. Rosenoff was born to Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Rosenoff in Ritzville on June 20, 1886. He attended a country school from 1892 until 1900. On Feb. 6, 1908, he was married to Anna E. Miller at the German Congregational church. They lived on the ranch were he was born until May 17, 1961, when they moved to 509 N. Division in Ritzville. He was a member of the German Congregational church before changing his membership to the Zion Congregational church in 1948. Surviving are his wife at the home; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Laurine) Miller of Ritzville; two brothers, Karl of Ritzville and Henry of Seattle; one grandchild, Mrs. Wayne Jirava of Ritzville and one great-grandchild. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 12, 1962 Weigum Dies In California Robert Weigum of Lodi, Calif., brother-in-law of several of the Hoefels in Ritzville died of a heart attack Tuesday in California. Relatives planning to attend the funeral Friday at the Ebanzer Congregational church in Lodi are Carl Hoefel, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wolsborn, Mr. and Mrs. David Hoefel and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hoefel. A fruit contractor, Weigum had been active in church and community activities. He was a Lion, Mason and Shriner. Surviving are his wife, the former Leontina Hoefel, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Barron of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Dorothy Bishofberger of Lodi; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Frank Schulze Dies in New Jersey WASHTUCNA - Mrs. Frank Schulze, formerly Neilson Pierce, passed away at her home in Summit, N. J., Saturday. Mrs. Schulze was bookkeeper for seven years for Earl Snyder of Washtucna and clerk of the town of Washtucna. She had been residing in the New Jersey area for the past 10 years. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 19, 1962 Mrs. Howard's Funeral Held at Washtucna WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for Mrs. Pheba Jane Howard, 93, long- time resident of the Washtucna community, were held Monday at the Washtucna Community church. Mrs. Howard died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lillie Pearson, in Spokane Thursday. Rev. J. William Woodworth officiated at the services. Interment was in the family plot at the Washtucna cemetery. Grandsons Lawrence Howard, Bill Howard, Victor Howard, Wayne Howard, Donald Howard and Bruce Howard were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers included Barney Helme, Uhel Holliday, Jim Woodyard and Floyd Cameron. Mrs. Howard was born at Mt. Gilead, Ohio, on Jan. 22, 1869. She moved to Missouri with her parents while a small child. At the age of 21 she was married to John T. Howard. The family moved to Washington in 1900 and settled at Washtucna in 1905. Mr. Howard preceded his wife in death in 1914. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lillie M. Pearson and Mrs. Althea Feree, both of Spokane; two sons, Floyd B. Howard of Sunnyside and Charles E. Howard of Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. George Gates Passes at Prosser Recently BENGE - Walter Hayden of Prosser spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Neace, sr., and told of the death of his father- in-law, George Gates, on April 6 at Prosser. Gates was a long-time resident of Benge before going to Prosser, where he was in a rest home. Rosenoff, 94, a pioneer farmer of Adams county, were held Tuesday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. Rosenoff died Sunday in Pullman at the home of his son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rosenoff, where he had lived since 1946. Rev. R. W. Rieger officated at the services. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were W. H. Rosenoff, George Adler, Marvin Schoessler, Robert W. Danekas, Karl Rosenoff and Frank Miller. Rosenoff was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rosenoff, sr., on Feb. 20, 1868, in Kolb, Russia. He came to the United States with his parents in 1878 and settled in Nebraska. In 1882 the family crossed the plains in a covered wagon and settled at Walla Walla. Then in 1883 the family homesteaded near Ritzville. Rosenoff was married to Anna Elizabeth Betz on Nov. 21, 1894, at Lincoln, Neb. She died in August, 1910. His second marriage was to Marie Schneider in Ritzville on Jan. 21, 1915. She preceded him in death in July, 1943. Rosenoff farmed near Ritzville until 1928 when he retired and moved to Walla Walla. He moved to his son's home in Pullman in 1946 and lived there until his death. He was a member of the Zion Congregational church in Ritzville. Surviving besides his son, Joe, is another son, Dr. Theodore Rosenoff at Blaine. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 17, 1962 Andrew Lund Services Held Monday Funeral services for Andrew Lund of Benge, 75, the only large-scale dairy operator in Adams county, were held Monday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. Lund died Saturday at Hillcrest Manor. Rev. Albert Wagner officiated at the services. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were William Allert, James Clinesmith, Charles Saunders, Allen Scott, Roy Scott and Frank Connell. Honorary pallbearers included Ernie Norris, A. A. Erickson, Charles Kent, Herbert Beckley, Henry Kalkwarf, Charles Clinesmith and Charles Stratton. Lund was born in Denmark on Oct. 12, 1886. He came to work for Hans Anderson at a dairy farm near Seattle in 1906, then started his own dairy operation southwest of Benge in 1916. He was a member of the Lutheran church, the Benge Grange and the Benge Oddfellows. Surviving are his wife, Frances, at the home in Benge; three sons, Andrew F., Ralph and George, all of Benge; and five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Anderson of Cheney, Mrs. Eleanor Wiedrick of Williams Lake, Mrs. Marge Fleming of Seattle, Mrs. Edna Craig of Wenatchee and Mrs. Carol Welch of National City, Calif. He also is survived by a brother, Clenmen Lund of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Katherine Lund of Ribe, Denmark; 16 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. John Telecky Services Set Here Today Funeral services for John Henry Telecky, 84, who has lived and farmed in Adams county for the last 61 years, will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Methodist church. Telecky died Sunday at the Adams County Memorial hospital, where he had been 12 days. He had been residing at Hillcrest Manor before that. Rev. Alfred Waln will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be Howard Telecky, Clyde Telecky, Stanford Telecky, Richard Telecky, George Kubik and Ray Telecky. Honorary pallbearers are to be Lyman Haight, Walter Proctor, Ernest Templin, Roy Langenheder, Dick Stockman, jr., and Henry Smith. The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Telecky, he was born in Barava county, Austria, on Nov. 5, 1877. He came to the United States where he was three years old and later homesteaded northwest of Ritzville. His wife, Fannie, passed away in 1951. Telecky was a member of the Trinity Methodist church and the Woodman's organization. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Anderson of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Emily Kubik of Ritzville and Mrs. Anna Biggs of Spokane; five brothers, Frank of Ritzville, Charles of Sprague, Anton of Reardan, Emil of Waitsburg and Adolph of Silver Lake, Minn. Also surviving are 59 nieces and nephews. Frank Rickman Services Held at Lind Church Funeral services for Francis Elbert (Frank) Rickman, 82, a farmer in the Hatton area for about 60 years, were held Saturday at the Methodist church in Lind. Rickman died early Thursday morning at the Adams County Memorial hospital. Complications from a broken pelvic bone after a fall at his Hatton home caused the death. Rev. Martin T. Larson officated at the services. Interment was at the Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Cottingham and J. T. Harmon of Hatton; and Joe Hayes, Irvin Swartz, J. R. Damon and William Curry, all of Lind. Honorary pallbearers were J. N. Campbell, H. S. Snead and Henry Phillips of Lind; Harold Johnson of Hatton; Ralph Watson of Kahlotus; and Lon Baker of Cunningham. The son of William and Sarah Stewart Rickman, he was born at Aurora, Mo., on May 13, 1879. Rickman and Miss Clara Robbins were married at Mount Vernon, Mo., on April 18, 1901. They had been married 54 years when Mrs. Rickman passed away in 1955. Four daughters and fours sons were born to the couple. Two of the girls, Zeta and Fern, died in childhood and another daughter died at birth. Rickman came to the Hatton country in the early 1900s. He made several trips back to Missouri before settling here permanently, so he had been a resident of Adams county more than 60 years. He retired from farming several years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Huse of Lind, a teacher at Connell; a son, Jack, of Pasco; a sister, Mrs. Rose Ross of Redding, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mishap Claims Behringer HATTON - Word was received here last week of the death of Harry Behringer in the Portland-Vancouver vicinity. Behringer with a couple of helpers was moving a large davenport from an upstairs apartment onto a truck when the skids slipped and the davenport and both men fell on top of him, breaking his hip, and also a leg in three places. He never rallied after going into shock. Mr. and Mrs. Behringer lived with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Close on the Jack Williams ranch all last summer. Mrs. Behringer is the former Leola Fish and lived in the area several years. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 24, 1962 Area Pioneer's Services Held on Wednesday Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Elizabeth Nauditt, 78, a Ritzville area resident for 69 years, were held Wednesday at the Philadelphia Congregational church. Rev. H. C. Haemmelmann officiated. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Geschke, Orville Moeller, Donald Geschke, Robert Maier, David Nauditt and Curtis Moeller. Honorary pallbearers included Harry Arlt, Jess Graber, Richard Miessner, Laurin Heimbigner, Louis Schaefer and Harry Wolsborn. Mrs. Nauditt died Saturday at Hillcrest Manor. Mrs. Nauditt was born to Jacob and Katie Bastron on July 14, 1883, at Walla Walla. She lived at Bickleton before moving to a farm near Packard when she was nine years old. Mrs. Nauditt attended school in district 32 near Packard. On Nov. 9, 1899, she and Ernest W. Nauditt were married in the Rosenoff Congregational church. After her husband died on Sept. 10, 1935, she retired from the farm. She had made her home since with her son, Laurance and daughter, Mrs. Herbert Moeller, in Ritzville. Two sons preceded her in death. Mrs. Nauditt was a life-long member of the Congregational church. She also belonged to the Grandmothers club. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul Geschke and Mrs. Moeller of Ritzville and Mrs. Russell Edgett of Spokane; a son, Laurence of Ritzville; two sisters, Mrs. Conrad Schaefer of Post Falls, Ida., and Mrs. Katie Schoessler of Astoria, Ore.; three brothers, Joe Bastron of Ritzville and Art and Sam Bastron of Walla Walla; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral Held for Mrs. Hull Here Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Hull, 41, a resident of the Ritzville and Odessa areas all her life, were held Saturday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. Mrs. Hull died Thursday in Spokane from multiple sclerosis. She had the disease for several years. She was born to state Senator and Mrs. W. C. Raugust at Batum on July 29, 1920. A graduate of Odessa high school, she attended Washington State university one year. She and Orville Hull, manager of the Farmers' Supply company, were married Aug. 19, 1940, at Odessa. Also a resident of Spokane one year and Sacramento, Calif., four and a half years, she had lived in Ritzville the last 18 years. She was a member of the Methodist church and had been a member of the Girl Scouts and church young people's groups early in life. Surviving are her husband and a daughter, Marianne, at the home in Ritzville and another daughter, Rosann, of Seattle. Rev. A. Hausauer and Rev. Alfred Waln officiated at the services. Interment was at the Pine cemetery in Spokane. Pallbearers were Roy Scott, O. D. (Denny) Kutschkau, Ray Rummer, Walter Haase, Sam Richardson and Ed Salo. Harry Garrity Dies In Seattle WASHTUCNA - Harry Garrity, a former Washtucna resident, died in Seattle May 10. He was born Jan. 31, 1873. Funeral services were held at the White Center Funeral Home with the Masonic service bureau officiating. Interment was in the Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers from this area were John Crouse and Frank Schafer. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schaefer, Les Schafer of Dayton, Mrs. John Crouse and Everett Sitton of Bellevue. Garrity formerly farmed 10 miles north of Washtucna. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bina Nehr of Seattle, and three grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 31, 1962 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 7, 1962 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 14, 1962 Services Held for Burkhart at Washtucna WASHTUCNA - Graveside services where held at the Washtucna cemetery Wednesday afternoon, June 6, for Fred Burkhart, a former resident here. Rev. William Woodworth officiated. Burkhart died June 1 at Tacoma, where he had lived for several years. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Burkhart on Feb. 7, 1898, at Washtucna. His parents came west in 1879 from Glena, Kan., to Dayton in a covered wagon and secured a homestead later in Adams county. The family moved to Ritzville in 1906 and Burkhart attended grade school there. He completed his high school education in Tacoma after his parents moved there in 1909. He was one of 13 children. His twin brother, Eddie, died May 23, 1953. During his younger years, he worked for his brothers on farms near Washtucna. He became a salesman and in the last several years he was a maintenance man at the city of Tacoma building. He is survived by three brothers, Ralph of Yakima, James of Anaheim, Calif., and Andrew of Tacoma. Funeral services for John Miller, Lind Businessman, Slated Today LIND - Funeral services for John Miller, 82, long-time resident of the Lind area, will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Lind Methodist church. Miller died Monday at Hillcrest Manor in Ritzville after a lengthy illness from cancer. He had been residing the last three years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pete Miller, in Ritzville. Rev. Martin T. Larson will officiate at the services. Interment will be at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wendell Longmeier, Fred Beck, Emil Fode, Walter Krehbiel, Albert Gross and Alfred Smart. Honorary pallbearers will include Albert Weston, Sherman Smart, William Curry and Charles Rushmeier. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Miller, he was born May 20, 1880, at Culberson, Neb. As a small child he traveled with his parents over the Oregon trail to come west. After a short residence in Oregon and in the Walla Walla area, his parents homesteaded five miles west of Ritzville. When Miller reached 21, he filed on his own homestead near Cunningham. Shortly after, he entered the hardware business at Lind and continued in the business over 50 years until his recent retirement. He attended the Lind schools and Washington State university. He was married to Anna Marie Eckhardt in Ritzville in January, 1905. Mrs. Miller preceded her husband in death in 1947. Surviving are all seven children born to the couple. They include Leslie Miller of Seattle, Mrs. Pete Miller of Ritzville, Mrs. Virgil Crosby of Seattle, Arthur Miller and Mrs. Robert Wright of Lind, Howard Miller of Garfield and Mrs. Clifford Neutz of Colville. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. John Kisler of Ritzville and Mrs. Ida Haag of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Elmer Miller of Seattle; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Miller was a member of the Lind Methodist church and served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. He also was a member of the Lind Oddfellows and was active in local civic affairs. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 21, 1962 Funeral Set Here Today for Woman Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Marie Oestreich of Coulee Dam, life-time resident of Ritzville until 1942, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Philadelphia Congregational church. Mrs. Oestreich, whose husband, Melvin, is a former Adams County Sheriff, died Sunday of a heart attack at their home in Coulee Dam. She had been ill about six weeks. Rev. Herbert Haemmelmann will officiate at the services. Interment will be at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Oestreich was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Thiel in Ritzville on Nov. 15, 1898. She attended Ritzville schools. On April 17, 1920, she and Mr. Oestreich were married here. They lived in Ritzville until 1942, then in California until 1947 while Mr. Oestreich was in the military service. Since then they have resided at Coulee Dam, where he worked as a guard at Grand Coulee Dam. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Monrovia, Calif., the Rebekah lodge at Coulee Dam and the C. J. Newland American Legion Auxiliary in Ritzville. Surviving besides her husband at the home are two sons, Troy, who lives in France, and Gerald of Moses Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Herb Sholer of Spokane and Mrs. Wylie Wagner of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 28, 1962 Services Are Held for Mrs. A. Hahn Here Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Marie Hahn, 83, of Seattle, a former resident of Ritzville, were held Thursday at the Zion Congregational church. Mrs. Hahn died Sunday, June 17, at her home in Seattle. Rev. R. W. Rieger officated at the services. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Hahn was born in Russia on Feb. 21, 1879. She came to America with her husband and family in 1912 and made her home at Moody until 1925, when they came to live in Ritzville. After her husband, Gust Hahn, died in 1948, she went to live at Seattle close to her children. Surviving are two sons, Solomon of Renton and Alexander of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Marie) Farrier and Mrs. Edward (Ann) Malgren, both of Seattle; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
