Albert Wagner officiating. Kechter died suddenly Thursday of a coronary thrombosis. Pallbearers were Carl Thaut, Art Thiel, Ted Klemmer, Richard Kembel, Reuben Rehn and Bob Stanfield. Kechter was born Jan. 15, 1891, in Kolb, Russia. He was a veteran of World War I and served two years in France. He was affiliated with the Lutheran church. Surviving are three brothers, Jake of Greeley, Colo., Fred of Scotts Bluff, Neb., and Pete of Casper, Wyo. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 19, 1962 Services Held at Endicott for Mrs. Smick Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Smick, 81, a resident of Whitman county most of her life and who had made her home in Ritzville the last three years, were held Tuesday at the Seventh-day Adventist church in Endicott. Mrs. Smick died Saturday evening at Deaconess hospital in Spokane. Elders S. L. Vorhees, Fred Cole and Ralph Wendt officated at the services. Burial was at the cemetery in Dusty. Mrs. Smith was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Daubert on Dec. 1, 1880, at Saratov, Russia, near the Volga river. She came to America in 1900 with her family and settled at Endicott. In 1901 she was married to John L. Smick, who preceded here in death in June, 1931. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Surviving are six sons, Dr. Willis Smick of Spokane, Dr. Charles Smick of Ritzville, Harold Smick of Ritzville, Harry Smick of Craigmont, Ida., and Ben and Ted Smick of Spokane; and three daughters, Mrs. Rachel Nagel of St. John, Mrs. Louise Rhoades of Seattle and Mrs. Ray Moore of Eugene, Ore. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 26, 1962 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 2, 1962 Services Held for Mrs. Olson Here Tuesday Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Olson, 73, a Ritzville resident from 1907 to 1936, were held Tuesday at Trinity Methodist church. Mrs. Olson died Thursday at her home in Seattle of a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Olson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leath, was born on May 19, 1889, at Cleveland, Minn. She lived in Minnesota until 1907, when she moved to Ritzville. She was married to Carl M. Olson in Ritzville on Nov. 12, 1911. Mr. and Mrs. Olson farmed three miles northeast of Ritzville for several years. Mr. Olson preceded his wife in death in March, 1933. She moved to Seattle to live with her son, Julius, in 1936. She was a member of Trinity Methodist church in Ritzville. Surviving are her son, Julius, of Seattle; two brothers, Herman H. Leath of Portland, Ore., and Arthur J. Leath of Brainard, Minn.; and a sister, Mrs. Henry Pfalz of Lake Elmo, Minn. Another son, Oscar N. Olson, died in February, 1936. Rev. Alfred Waln officiated at the services. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers included Maynard Galbreath, Raymond Rummer, Robert Danekas, Stanford Telecky, Raymond Telecky and Walter Wellsandt. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 9, 1962 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 16, 1962 Funeral Set for Resident Here Friday Funeral services for Mrs. C. R. Wentworth, 78, a Ritzville resident for many years, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. Mrs. Wentworth died Tuesday after a lingering illness. Rev. W. B. MacHenry of St. Mark's Episcopal church will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Fickle, L. J. Manke, Walt Allert, Al Rummer, Al Lenhart and Bert Kendrick. Honorary pallbearers will include L. W. Evans, E. J. Colwell, John Schutz, Bill Rosenoff and Charles Schwerin. Jean Cameron was born on Sept. 1, 1883, at Harrison, Ontario, Canada. She married to Clinton B. Wentworth at Harrison on Feb. 25, 1909. They lived in Ritzville from 1919 to 1924, in Puyallup from 1924 to 1936 and in Potlatch, Ida., from 1936 to 1938. The family returned to Ritzville in 1938 and lived here since. Mr. Wentworth was in the jewelry business in all these place and Mrs. Wentworth used to work with him from time to time. He retired from the jewelry business in 1960. Mrs. Wentworth was affiliated with the Presbyterian church and was a member of the Zenobia Rebekah lodge and the Ritzville Business and Professional Woman's club. Surviving are her husband at the home at 311 W. Main; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Hanson of Ritzville and Mrs. Jean Bush of Bellevue; and a son, Donald of Puyallup. Another son, Ralph, died in an automobile accident here in 1960. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 23, 1962 Funeral is Held for Idaho Youth HATTON - Mrs. J. T. Harman went to Nampa, Ida., with Roy Woody and Mrs. Robert Heideman of Connell last Wednesday to attend the funeral services of Terry Travis, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Travis at Meridan, Ida., Thursday. Terry, who would have been 13 Sunday, was wading in the river when an undercurrent carried her under. Mrs. Travis is a niece of Mrs. Harman and Mrs. Woody. Mrs. Woody, who had gone to Idaho earlier returned home with the group on Friday. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 30, 1962 Stech Funeral Held Monday LIND - Masonic funeral services for Frank Albert Stech, 83, who passed away Aug. 15, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. last Monday from the Mannenbach chapel at Chehalis. Interment was in the Chehalis cemetery. Mr. Stech was born Dec. 13, 1887, in Wisconsin. He homesteaded west of Mesa coming to Lind sometime in the 1920s, where he did windmill and well repair work until 1946, when he went to Oregon and lived in the Newburg community until his death. He was a member of Lind Lodge No. 145 F&AM at Lind, and a life member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Spokane. Survivors include two sisters, Annie Knizeh of Pe Ell and Grace Kinzeh of Tacoma. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, September 5, 1962 Services Held on Wednesday for Lind Lady Death came Aug. 31, 1962, for Mrs. SyVilla Bell Richardson, 82. She was the wife of the late Byron J. Richardson, who died in 1954. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smart Green, she was born in Missouri on Nov. 23, 1879. Death came to her at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Millard (Helen) Nowat, Lind, and was caused by a heart attack while she was sleeping. A member of the Lind Methodist church, Mrs. Richardson was also active in the church's WSCS. She had lived in the Lind community for the past 57 years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Cliff (Marjorie) Williams, Spokane; Mrs. Rudy (Hazel) Vostral, Ritzville; and Mrs. Millard (Helen) Mowat, Lind; one brother, Sherman Smart, Lind; two grandchildren, Mrs. Darrel Herring, Tekoa and Kenny Williams, Spokane; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kirk Herring, Tekoa. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 4, at the Lind Methodist church with the Rev. Martin Larson officiating. Pallbearers were Ernest Teague, Sherman Teague, Ross Richardson, Jay Richardson, Francis Richardson and Eugene Mowat. Interment was at the Lind cemetery. Mrs. Mary Burrill Dies in Spokane; Funeral Pending Mrs. Mary C. Burrill of Spokane, a long-time resident of the Hatton area died at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 5 at the Deaconess hospital in Spokane. Mrs. Burrill, 74, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Watson, pioneer Hatton ranchers. She was born in Nebraska Dec. 17, 1887. Her husband, Roy C. Burrill, died in 1950. She is survived by three sons, George Burrill of Ritzville and Orin and Warner, both of Spokane; two brothers, Alex and Ralph Watson, Lind; and a sister, Gertie Kelso of White Salmon. There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Services Set for Lind Man, Breitengross After an illness of four days, death came Sept. 3, 1962, to Reinhardt Breitengross, 85, of Lind, at the Deaconess hospital in Spokane. Mr. Breitengross, who had been making his home at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Spokane, was born March 8, 1876, at Fond du Lac, Wis. His wife, Katherine Immel Breitengross, died July 12, 1956. The deceased had lived in the Lind community for the past 57 years, and had served as railroad agent. He was a member of the Lutheran church, the Lind F&AM and the BPOE of Spokane, Spokane Consistary. Mr. Breitengross is survived by a brother, E. E. Breitengross, Fond du Lac, Wis., and a niece, Ruth Bostwick, Glendale, Calif. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Good Hope Lutheran church, Lind, with the Rev. Robert M. Keller of the Othello Lutheran church officiating. Pallbearers will be Harry Kasper, Doug Urquhart, Albert Gross, Eugene Gross, Fred Beck and George Hougen. Interment will be at the Lind cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, September 13, 1962 Services Held for Mrs. Linn on Tuesday A resident of the Ritzville area for the past 42 years, Jennie Elizabeth Linn, 82, died following a heart attack, Sept. 7, at the Adams County Memorial hospital after an illness of only one day. Mrs. Linn, who had made her home at the Seim apartments, was the daughter of James K. and Jennie Edmonson. She was born Nov. 20, 1879, in Minnesota and was married to the late Ludwig Linn, who for many years was a Ritzville butcher. Mrs. Linn was a member of the Episcopal church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. P. O. Johnson, Tacoma; a grandson, James L. Jones, El Paso, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. A. Brown in Colorado and one brother, C. R. Edmonson, Tacoma. There are three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 11 in the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. The Rev. Bruce McHenry of St. Mark's Episcopal church presided. Pallbearers were Larry Maher, Melvin Seim, Jack Richmond, Dean Whitworth, Bernard Floether and Carl Christmas. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Corey Kiesz Funeral Held Death came early Saturday morning at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane, to two-year-old Corey Kiesz. He suffered from a heart condition. Corey was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Kiesz of Washtucna. He was born June 24, 1960, and had spent a good part of his short life in hospitals. He was scheduled to have been operated on, Oct. 9. He is survived by his parents; a sister, Janell, 11; his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Kiesz; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Borgens, and a paternal great-grandfather, Henry Heimbigner. The funeral was Tuesday at the Philadelphia Congregational church, with Rev. H. Haemmelmann in charge of the service. Pallbearers were Amos Allen, Bennie Sitton, Marvin Schoessler and Godfrey Sackmann. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Doerschlag's Funeral Service Held Wednesday Death came Sept. 9 to Augusta A. Doerschlag, 74, Washington pioneer, a resident of Sprague. She was born at Fairfield, Aug. 15, 1888, the daughter of John and Amelia Rushmeier. She had lived in Lincoln county for 57 years. In 1906 she was married to A. F. Doerschlag in Ritzville. Mrs. Doerschlag was a member of the Community church of Sprague, the Eastern Star, Rebekah lodge and the Crab Creek Grange of Sprague, of which she was a charter member. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Snider, Sprague; Mrs. Ralph Danekas, Ritzville; two sons, Ralph and Arthur C. Doerschlag, Sprague; one sister, Mrs. Martha Moore, Lind; and one brother, Charles Rushmeier, Lind. There are seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The funeral was held Wedesday at the Community church of Sprague, with the Rev. Richard Steward in charge of the service. Pallbearers were Albert Countryman, Charles Nihoul, Oren Palmer, G. F. Jasman, Kon Lamparter and John Carter. Honorary pallbearers were John Duncan, Myrtle Miller, Charles Potts, Ross Jensen, Frank Silva and Jack Collins. Interment was at Macabee cemetery, Sprague. Funeral Is Held Saturday HATTON - Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon for Mrs. Mary (Maidie) C. Burrill, 74, at the Alwin Chapel of Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home in Spokane. Interment was in Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Mrs. Burrill was born in Nebraska on Dec. 17, 1887, and was only six months old when her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander T. Watson, came by covered wagon to the Hatton area. Their homestead was just east of the Sand Hills (Delight) cemetery. She is survived by three sons, George R. Burrill of Ritzville, Orin W. Burrill and Warner R. Burrill, both of Spokane; a sister, Mrs. Margaret (Gertie) Kelso of White Salmon; two brothers, Alex T. Watson and Ralph C. Watson; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Roy C. Burrill, died in 1950.
