Bauer Succumbs Here Carl A. Bauer, a resident of the Paha community since 1915, died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He had been a patient there for 62 days. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock today at the Danekas Funeral chapel with the Rev. Herbert C. Haemmelmann conducting them. Carl Bauer was 78 years of age when he died. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bauer, he was born in Cook county, Nebraska, and attended school there. He and Ethel Starring were married Nov. 26, 1919. He engaged in wheat farming and cattle raising all his life. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. His wife, Ethel, survives the deceased at home at Paha. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Lydia Bauer and Miss Anna Bauer, both of Seattle; a brother, Adolph Bauer of Deep Creek; and two stepsons, Dale Starring of Lind and Ralph Starring of Bremerton. There are seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Alex Werner, Howard Leonard, Art Thiel, Harry Werttemberger, Stan Klemmer and Reinhold Braun. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 18, 1963 Virginia Sanger Dies Here at 85 Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia M. Sanger will be held at 2 o'clock today (July 18) at Oroville. Mrs. Sanger died Monday at the age of 85 following a two weeks illness at Hillcrest Manor here. She had been a resident at the home since March 1, 1962. She had been a resident of Molson, east of Oroville, since 1904. Her husband died in 1933. After her younger daughter married she lived alone in Molson until moving to Ritzville last year. Surviving are Fred Sanger, a son, of rural Ritzville, who operates the Tastee Freeze here; and two daughters, Mrs. Roy Nealey of Molson and Mrs. Mildred Imhoff of Auburn. A sister lives in California and another sister, Mrs. Nell Bratton, lives at Tonasket. Ed Montgomery Funeral Is Held HATTON - Ed Montgomery of Kahlotus died recently at the Deaconess hospital in Spokane from a stroke he had 10 days before. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Mann of Soap Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Cofer of Kahlotus and Mrs. Mabel Cofer of Spokane; a brother, John Montgomery, of Kahlotus; numerous nieces and nephews and several grandchildren, including Mrs. Wayne Klindworth of Hatton. Funeral services were held in Oakesdale Monday afternoon with the Smith Funeral Home of Spokane in charge. Kanzler Rites To Be Friday Funeral services for Samuel L. Kanzler will be held Friday at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home here. Mr. Kanzler died Tuesday at Kent from the effects of a stroke. He was 75 years of age. Samuel L. Kanzler was born July 19, 1888, at Ritzville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Henry Kanzler. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. J. P. Koch and Mrs. Mike Thiel of Ritzville and Mrs. David Weber of Odessa. He was a member of the Lutheran church and the American Legion. The Rev. Albert Wagner will conduct the funeral service. Burial will be at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 25, 1963 Emma Womach Funeral Rites Will Be Today Mrs. Emma Womach, Adams county resident since 1904, died Monday at the Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane. She was 81 years of age. Mrs. Womach had been ill at the hospital for two weeks. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home. The Rev. William Mayoh, minister of the Christian church at Cheney, will conduct the service. Mrs. Womach was born Emma Anderson on Aug. 10, 1881, near Springfield, Ill. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Anderson. She attended the county schools of Lincoln county, Illinois. She was married in March of 1904 to I. Newton Womach who preceded her in death. Two daughters, Mrs. Irene Samuel of Spokane and Miss Mildred Womach of Ritzville survive the mother. There are also seven nephews and six nieces surviving. Mrs. Womach was a housewife. She was a member of the Christian church. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be W. Walters Miller, Russell Telecky, Harry Clodius, C. W. Eckhardt, Francis Hall and George Freese. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Telecky, Elmo Irwin and Lyman Haight. Former Resident Dies WASHTUCNA - Mrs. Harry Nunamaker died July 16 in a hospital in Olympia. She was born March 24, 1886, in Beaverton, Ore. Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, in Olympia. Interment was at the Masonic Memorial Park. The Nunamakers were married for 53 years. Surviving are her husband, Harry, at the home; three children, Clem of Washtucna, Mrs. Geraldine Roloff and Clarence Nunamaker of Olympia; seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The Nunamakers formerly resided on a farm near Washtucna where their children grew up. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 1, 1963 Mrs. Fleming Laid To Rest at Washtucna WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for Minnie Mae Fleming were held Monday at the Washtucna Community church. Mrs. Fleming died July 24 in the Ontario, Ore., hospital. She was the victim of a heart attack. She and her husband had lived at Vale, Ore., the past three years and prior to that for 10 years in Washtucna. Mrs. Fleming was the mother of Mrs. Patricia Sullivan of Washtucna. Minnie Mase Osborne was born Oct. 21, 1902, at Matherton, Mich. She was married Dec. 21, 1926, to Oren M. Fleming at Yakima. Her husband survives her. At Vale Mr. and Mrs. Fleming operated the Taylor Maid cafe for the past three years. Surviving besides Mr. Fleming and Mrs. Sullivan are a brother, Frank Osborne of Matherton; and two sisters, Ruth Owen at Yakima and Elizabeth Myer, St. John, Mich. Four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive. Committal services were at the Washtucna cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Danekas Funeral Home, Ritzville, with the Ontario mortuary cooperating. Heinemann Funeral Held Here Saturday Funeral services for Henry F. Heinemann were conducted at Trinity Methodist church Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Chester Blair, Colfax, conducted the services. Mr. Heinemann died Wednesday of last week at Spokane. He was born Oct. 7, 1887, in Chicago, Ill., the son of William and Anna Heinemann. He was 75 years of age. Mr. Heinemann was married Oct. 1, 1912, at Ritzville to Katherine M. Wagner. He is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter. The sons are Dr. Harold Heinemann, Milton Heinemann and Robert Heinemann, all of Seattle; and Richard Heinemann of Rosalia. The daughter is Mrs. Joe O'Neal of Omaha, Neb. Also surviving are his brothers, Carl and Alfred Heinemann of Ritzville; and his sister, Mrs. Charles Baumann, Ritzville; Mrs. Gus Basner, Los Angeles; and Mrs. Bertha Richter, Santa Cruz, Calif. There are 20 grandchildren. Arrangements for the service was in charge of Danekas Funeral Home. The body was cremated. The family has indicated a memorial is being formed in the Henry Heinemann Educational scholarship. Gifts and inquiries may be directed to Carl Heinemann, 902 S. Adams, Ritzville. Pallbearers were Donald Heinemann, Edward Heinemann, Robert Schaefer, Delano Bauer, Lloyd Baumann and Wayne Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Reiman, Lawrence Benzel, John Wellsandt, Jim Kadlec, Roy Langenheder, William Scheel, Rudy Rogel, Fritz Allert and Tom Volk. Eddie Reimers Gently Laid to Rest Here A tragic accident at the Winston Reimers farm five miles south of Ritzville Sunday evening took the life of Edward Reimers, age four. Edward, with other Reimers children were residing in the back of a truck when he fell beneath the vehicle's wheels. Rosary was said at Danekas Funeral Home Tuesday evening. Mass of the Angels were conducted by Father Walter F. Abel at St. Agnes Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Pallbearers were Wayne Koch, Dewayne Koch, Jim Peppers and Lynn Reeves. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Schoessler, Don Geschke, Ronnie Knight and Charles McCormick. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. He is survived by his parents; five sisters, Marsha, Carrie, Patricia, Frances and Mary; and six brothers, Winston, jr., Paul, Steven, Michael, William and Fred. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Richard Bergen, Highgrove, Calif.; and three aunts, Mrs. Dorothy Sunde of Stewart, Minn.; Mrs. Robert Losey of Renton, and Mrs. Theodore Deering of Long Beach, Calif. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 8, 1963 Albert Egerland Funeral Service Conducted Here Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Danekas chapel for Albert Egerland. He was 62 years of age. He died at the Ritzville hotel Sunday. Egerland was born in Nebraska Nov. 26, 1900. He came to Ritzville in 1911 with his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Franz Egerland. The Rev. Mr. Egerland came here as one of the early ministers of the Zion Congregational church and continued in that work here until 1922. Mr. Egerland moved to Tacoma. Both his father who died in 1933, and his mother who died in 1941, are buried in Tacoma. About two and a half years ago Egerland, his sister and brother, moved back to Ritzville. The sister, Anna Egerland, and brother, Franz Egerland, survive the deceased. The Rev. Beryl Melcher conducted the funeral service. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. F. Daugherty Funeral Rite Will Be Today Funeral services for Frank Daugherty of Washtucna will be held at the Smith Funeral home chapel in Spokane Thursday afternoon (today) at 3 o'clock. He died Monday at his home in Washtucna at the age of 69. Francis Payne Daugherty was born at Leland, Ida. He began his schooling at Kendrick, Ida. In 1907 his family moved to Spokane. He was graduated from Lewis and Clark high school in Spokane. Daugherty farmed in the Leland, Ida., area until 1917, when he moved to Alberta, Canada. He was married at Lethbridge, Alberta, on April 3, 1919, to Ellen Harriet. The family moved back to the United States in 1924 and has resided near Washtucna since that time. In 1957 Daugherty was named "Farmer-of-the- year" for the Benge-Washtucna area. He was a member of the Washtucna Community church and a charter member of the Ralston Grange. In addition to his wife, the deceased is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen, and a son, James, both at home at Washtucna. There are two sisters surviving, Mrs. William (Grace) Blick and Mrs. Parker (Inez) Moore, as well as a brother, Jesse I Daugherty. The Rev. J. R. Dibble of Spokane will conducted the funeral service. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park at Spokane. Alma Lansing Funeral Rite Will Be Today Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2 o'clock at St. Mark's Episcopal church for Mrs. Alma Lansing. She died at Hillcrest Manor Monday at the age of 86 years. She was born in England in October of 1876 and came to the United States with her parents in 1880. Mrs. Lansing was a resident of Adams county and Ritzville since 1911. Her husband, James Lansing, died in 1927. He was a banker in the German-American bank here in Ritzville up to the time the institution was sold to Harry Martin and associates. For many years during her early residence here Mrs. Lansing was employed by the Ritzville firm of attorneys, Lovell and Davis. Later she worked for Richard Ott when he was first the county attorney, and subsequently for the firm of Ott and Cross. Mrs. Lansing was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had lived at Hillcrest Manor since its opening. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Lawrence Wood of Oklahoma City, Okla. Mrs. Wood had come to Ritzville to visit her aunt in the past two weeks. The Rev. W. B. MacHenry will conduct the service. Pallbearers will be Wally Proctor, Richard Kembel, Victor Donis, John Ott, Leonard Jansen, and Edward Cross. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery beside her husband. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 15, 1963 John Reiber Laid To Rest Here Monday John Reiber died Wednesday of last week at the Adams County memorial hospital. He was 91 years of age. Funeral services were held at the Philadelphia Congregational church Monday afternoon. The deceased had suffered from a respiratory ailment for the past 21 months. Reiber was born at Kolb, Russia, on May 5, 1872. He emigrated to the United States in 1900 and took up a homestead in the western part of Adams county. He continued to farm until his retirement in 1949. He was a charter member of the Philadelphia Congregational church here. The deceased was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Maria Achziger. Surviving are two sons and two daughters. They are Alex Reiber of Zillah, Arthur Reiber of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Donald Danekas of Ritzville and Mrs. H. J. Dirkes, jr., of Ventura, Calif. There are also 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Herbert C. Haemmelmann conducted the funeral services. Burial was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor Rogel, Roy Klein, Jack Thaut, Dan Kembel, Roy Koch and Ralph Kissler. Infant Derrickson is Laid to Rest The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Derrickson of Washtucna was laid to rest Wednesday morning in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. The child had lived only 12 hours after its birth in the Adams County Memorial hospital. The father had been employed at the Rod Kinch ranch near Washtucna. The family's home was formerly in Montana. The parents, but no brothers or sisters survive. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Derrickson and the maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Meakins. The Rev. Beryl Melcher of Zion Congregational church conducted the graveside service. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 22, 1963 Mrs. Dewald's Father Dies at Davenport Funeral services will be held this morning (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at the chpael of the Strate Funeral Home in Davenport for Elmer G. Scharff. He was the father of Mrs. John Dewald of Ritzville. Scharff passed away early Sunday morning. Interment was at the Mountain View cemetery at Davenport. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 29, 1963 N. J. Williams Funeral Is Set Here Today HATTON - Funeral services for Noman Jackson Williams, 65, a long-time resident of Michigan prairie, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday (today) at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Williams died Monday morning, about two hours after entering the Sharon arms in Spokane, from a heart attack. Mr. Larry McKensie and the Rose Croix funeral team from Spokane will officiate at the services. Masonic graveside services and interment will be at the Lind cemetery. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson Williams, he was born Sept. 7, 1897, at Delight (Sandhills) and spent most of his life in this vicinity. He attended the Sandhills school for awhile. When his parents moved to Nine Mile he went to school there, later attending North Central high school and Blair business college in Spokane. He was married to Gweneth Williams in Spokane on Jan. 23, 1919. Mr. and Mrs. Williams farmed near Pateros in Douglas county from 1920 until 1926. They moved to Michigan prairie and farmed the Willard Yeisley place. They bought the old Doctor Sutton place from Mr. and Mrs. George Campbell in 1936. Williams was farming this place at the time of his death. Pallbearers will be Leonard Koepp, Walter Ashcraft, Allen Deaton, Walter Johnson, Robert Wright and Kenny Foulkes. Honorary pallbearers will include W. G. Curry, Ralph Watson, Harry Cottingham, Richard Kelsey, Harold Johnson and Herman Klindworth. Williams was affiliated with the Church of Christ. He was a member of the Lind Masonic Lodge No. 145, having served two terms as master, once in Connell and again after the lodge moved to Lind. He was lodge treasurer for the past 15 years. He was a charter member and past patron of Margaret Wadsworth Chapter No. 225; and of the York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies and the El Katif Shrine, all in Spokane. Survivors include his wife, Gweneth, at the home; one sister, Mrs. Elva Swannack of Sprague; one brother, Bryan Williams of Spokane; 14 nieces and nephews and 14 grand nieces and nephews. Johnston Funeral Today at Lind Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Johnston, a Lind resident since 1912, will be held at the Lind Methodist church today (Thursday). Mrs. Johnston died Sunday at Sharon arms hospital in Spokane as a result of a stroke. She had been living there for the past three years. Katherine Jackson was born July 10, 1878, at Des Moines, Ia. She was married in 1914 at Ontario, Canada, to William Caleb Johnston. Her husband died Feb. 2, 1939. Miss Jackson came to Lind about 1912. She operated the Crystal cafe there until her marriage. Surviving are a stepson, Creighton Johnston of Burwash, Ontario, Canada, and one step grandson. She was a member of the Lind Methodist church and of its Women's Society for Christian Service. She was a charter member of Lind Grange No. 1035. Conducting the service will be the Rev. Martin Larson Pallbearers will be Con Madison, Earl Todd, John Barnett, E. C. Phillips, Walt Krehbiel and Dan Lyle. Burial will be in the Lind cemetery. Ella Stephenson Funeral is Held Here Tuesday Services for Mrs. Ella Laura Stephenson were held at St. Mark's Episcopal church Tuesday morning. She died at Portland last Friday where she had been for the past 15 months during an illness. Ella Laura Mason was born in Pennsylvania on Feb. 27, 1870. She had lived in the Benge community for 61 years. Her husband, William Stephenson, died in 1933. She is survived by two sons, Burton Stephenson and Walter Stephenson, both of Portland, Ore.; by nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stephenson was a member of St. Mark's church and of the Benge Grange. The Rev. W. B. MacHenry conducted the funeral services. Milton Sackmann sang a vocal solo, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Kembel. Pallbearers were Allen and Roy Scott, Frank Connell, James Clinesmith, Herbert and Alfred Kent. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Kent, George Callaway, Herbert Beckley and Frank Mitchell. Interment was in the Colfax cemetery with the Rev. William Elfred officiating. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, Septmber 19, 1963 None Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, September 26, 1963 Anna Heimbigner Koch Rites Are Today at Lutheran Church Funeral services for Anna Heimbigner Koch will be held today (Thursday) at Emanuel Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Koch died Monday at Holy Family home in Spokane. She had been ill the past year and a half. Mrs. Koch was born July 16, 1895, in Russia. As a girl of three, she came to the United States with her parents, Conrad and Anna Schiffner. They settled first at Walla Walla were Anna attended school. She was married at Walla Walla to Adam Heimbigner and the couple moved to Adams county. She wed Peter M. Koch in 1940 and moved to the residence in Ritzville. Mrs. Koch was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church and of its Hope Circle. She belonged to the Eagles auxiliary. Surviving are her husband Peter M. Koch, Ritzville; a son, Laurin Heimbigner of Ritzville; and two daughters, Mrs. Doris Converse, Juneau, Alas., and Mrs. Margaret Kanzler, Colbert. Also surviving are a granddaughter, Mrs. Virginia Gibson, Anchorage, Alas., and her grandsons, Kevin and Lyle Heimbigner, Ritzville. Surviving stepchildren include Mrs. Elsie Gillespie of Spokane; Fred Heimbigner, Valley; Henry Heimbigner, Chester, Mont.; Mrs. Rose Kaiser, Chelan; Mrs. Helen Mann, Spokane; Mrs. Clara Golden, Washington, D.C.; Lavine Koch, Ritzville; and Aaron Koch, Seattle. A sister, Mrs. Katherine Meyer of Everett and a brother, Conrad E. Schiffner, of Pocatello, Ida., also survive. There are three grandchildren and 19 step grandchildren. The Rev. Albert E. Wagner will conduct the funeral services. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Steinmetz, Jonah Heimbigner, Lawrence Nauditt, Paul Geschke, Richard Miessner and Harvey Burkhardt. Honorary pallbearers are Harry Werttemberger, William Wellsandt, Joe Bastron, Henry Amen, William Arlt and John Hopp, jr.
