She died at her home here Sunday morning while preparing a roast before her planned departure for church. Her son Richard of Yakima discovered his mother's death when he arrived at her home about noon. In December Mrs. Sackmann learned of her heart condition and restricted her activities. She had attended a mid-week Lenten service Wednesdsay at the Philadelphia Congregational church. Caroline Hille was born April 7, 1889, at Kulm, Bessarabia, Russia, the daughter of John and Maria Roloff Hille. When she was five she came with her parents to the United States. After five years in North and South Dakota the family migrated west and settled near Ralston in 1894. She attended school at Ralston, and was instructed and confirmed by the Rev. Mr. Koch in the Salem Congregational church near Ralston. On December 16, 1909, she married Martin Sackmann in that church. Six children were born to this union. A daughter, Bertha, died on September 8, 1913. The Martin Sackmanns took up a ranch in Bauer coulee. After seven years there they acquired their home place 17 miles west of Ritzville where they lived for 25 years and raised their family. While on the ranch in rural Adams county the family was active in the Pilgrim Congregational church at Odessa. Martin's illness in the fall of 1942 forced his retirement and they moved to Ritzville. Five years later, on July 24, 1947, he died. Mrs. Sackmann was a widow for 18 years. She was always active and in good health till last December. In 1956 she built a new home at 602 S. Palouse. Mrs. Sackmann was an active member and staunch supporter of Philadelphia Congregational church. Last year she was president of the senior aid, of which she had been a long-time member. Surviving are two daughters and three sons. They are Mrs. William (Martha) Weis of Seattle, Herbert M. Sackmann of Odessa, Mrs. Leslie W. (Wilma) Lee of Portland, Ore., Dr. Richard R. Sackmann of Yakima and Milton P. Sackmann. Daniel Hille of Ritzville and Emanuel Hille of Walla Walla are surviving brothers. There are 17 grandchildren. The Rev. Herbert C. Haemmelmann conducted the funeral service. Dr. Bruce Hille sang "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" and "God Understands." His organ accompanist was Mrs. Haemmelmann. Pallbearers were Calvin, Alvin, Gordon, Eugene, Everett and Boyd Hille. Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. Eva Knottingham Funeral Service Held Wednesday Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Lind Methodist church for Eva Knottingham. She died Sunday at Adams County Memorial hospital following an illness of four months. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. She was born April 14, 1886, at Napoleon, Mo. She attended school in Lind rural area, at Cheney Normal and the University of Washington. She taught in high schools in Washington and Idaho for 30 years. She was also a clerk at the post office at Roxboro. She was a member for 45 years of the Rebekah lodge at Vale, Ore. Surviving are two sisters, Susie Carson of Seattle and Mattie Knottingham of Warden. The Rev. Roger Johnson conducted the funeral service. Mrs. Shirley DeVore sang "God Be With You" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Art Franz was organ accompanist. Pallbearers were Joe Hays, John Hooley, R. H. Phillips, Mike Damon, Claude Woodman and Joe Campbell. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 8, 1965 A. H. Browiak Funeral Held Here Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday for Arthur H. Browiak of Spokane. He died in a Spokane hospital March 31 at the age of 78. Browiak was born May 23, 1886, in South Wanatah, Ind. He was married in Ritzville December 13, 1916, to Evangeline Carlson who preceded him in death May 6, 1964. The Browiaks resided here for 50 years when he was a painting contractor. They moved to Spokane in 1957. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Julia Carver of Spokane Valley and Miss Elizabeth Browiak at the home, east 918 37th, Spokane. A sister, Grace Browiak of Valparaiso, Ind., and a brother, Hans Browiak of Lakeland, Fla., also survive. Services were conducted by the Rev. Paul E. Hamlin of Manito Methodist church at the Danekas Funeral chapel. Pallbearers were Delbert Templin, Roger Olson, Dean Whitworth, Victor Rogel, Everett Edwards and Howard Seim. Honorary pallbearers were William Rosenoff, David Hoefel, Melvin Seim, Wally Proctor and Emil Hoefel. Milton Sackmann sang "In The Garden" and "God Understands," accompanied by Mrs. Orville Moeller. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Browiak was a member of Manito Methodist church and of the Manito Lions club. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 15, 1965 No obituaries were printed this week. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 22, 1965 Funeral Services Held Thursday for Joseph Graber Funeral services for Joseph J. Graber were held Thursday at the Community church in Soap Lake. Graveside services were held at the Menno Mennonite cemetery west of Ritzville that afternoon. The deceased was born September 10, 1893, at Eugene, Ore., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Graber. In 1899 he moved with his parents to the Ritzville area. He later homesteaded in Canada for a number of years. Returing to Washington he enrolled in the American University of Sanipractic in Seattle. He carried on a practice with the Schrag Brothers in Soap Lake prior to establishing his own practice in 1936. He carried on that practice until 1945. In 1950 he purchased a tourist court at Soap Lake and operated it to the time of his final illness. He died at the Memorial hospital in Soap Lake on April 12 at the age of 71 years, seven months and two days. His boyhood and young manhood were spent in the community west of Ritzville. He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Gering, a brother, Chris of Hawthorne, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, April 29, 1965 N. S. McMurray Funeral Service Is Held Monday Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Danekas Funeral chapel for Noral S. McMurray. He died Friday after a three-weeks illness at the Adams County Memorial hospital. The deceased was born May 9, 1903, at Sanborn, Ia. Surviving are a son, Thomas of Roseburg, Ore., a daughter, Patricia Holt of Moses Lake, and three grandchildren, and Mrs. McMurray at the home. Also surviving are two brothers, Neil and Ned, both of Seattle; and two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Fuller and Mrs. Norman Durner, both of Seattle. McMurray was a life-long baseball player, coach and fan. He actively coached Legion ball clubs and Little Leaguers here for many years. He had been a truck and bus driver for many years. The Rev. James Updike conducted the funeral services. Pallbearers were William Moeller, Bob Stanfield, Carl Kiehn, Walt Heimbigner, Danny Schroll and Bill Sickmann. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Last Rites Held at Chapel Tuesday for John Kinzel John Kinzel died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital after a week's illness there. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Danekas chapel with the Rev. Albert Wagner in charge. John Kinzel was born June 23, 1881, at Warinburg, Russia. He had been a resident of this county for 50 years. He was a wheat farmer. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward Franson of Spokane and Mrs. Irene Wilson of Ritzville; and two sons, Richard and Walter of Ritzville. Three sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Mary Heimbigner of Spokane, Mrs. Henry Koch of Spokane and Mrs. Anna Bauer of Yakima. There are five granchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Levein Schroeder, Gerald Franson, George Oestreich, Roy Langenheder, Fred Langenheder and Lavene Hardung. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery. Esther Nichols Dies in Oregon Auto Accident Mrs. Esther Nicols of Mendocino, Calif., daughter of Mrs. Adam Weber of Ritzville, died in an auto accident Sunday afternoon near Albany, Ore. With a Catholic sister, Mrs. Nichols was attending a retreat at Albany. Apparently a tire blew out on the car in which they were riding. The car rolled and both women were killed. Surviving besides Mrs. Nichols' mother here are a sister, Mrs. Elsie Caster who is living with her mother. A half sister, Mrs. Lloyd Williams of Odessa and two half brothers, Harold Weber of Ritzville and Sam Weber of Ontario, Ore., also survive. There are five step brothers surviving. They are John and Dan Weber of Ritzville, Dave Weber of Odessa, Henry Weber of Wenatchee and George Weber of Seattle. Also there are three step sisters, Mrs. Jacob Heimbigner of Ritzville, Mrs. Fred Reiman of Dryden and Mrs. Elsa Farris of Everett. A niece and nephew survive in California. Mrs. Nichols had been a widow for several years. Funeral was held Wednesday with burial at Denver near the grave of Mrs. Nichols' husband. Former Local Banker Dies Herman Cordes, former Ritzville banker, died Monday at his home in Spokane. A Spokane resident the past 19 years, he purchased a controlling interest in the Ritzville State Bank in 1949, and became its president. He came here monthly to attend its board meetings. In 1959 the National Bank of Commerce purchased the Ritzville State Bank. At the time of his death Cordes was chairman of the board of the Farmers State Bank at Uniontown. He had lived in Pullman prior to moving to Spokane. His wife, a daughter and a son survive. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 6, 1965 Hiram Hammond Is Laid To Rest Tuesday Morning Funeral services were held at the Washtucna Community church Tuesday morning for Hiram H. Hammond. He died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital at the age of 79 years. He was born April 19, 1886, in Michigan. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Mrs. Don R. Pierce of Seattle; and three sons, Sheldon Hammond of Washtucna, Don Hammond of Spokane and Ted Bostwick of Seattle. Hammond was a member of the F. & A.M. lodge and of the Seventh-day Adventist church. He was a contractor and builder. The Rev. R. J. Kegley conducted the funeral service. David Fisher sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "There Is No Night There." His organ accompanist was Mrs. Bill Fisher. Pallbearers were C. E. Connell, Les Lane, Jim Woodyard, Al Sitko, Floyd Cameron and Bill Fisher. Burial was in the Washtucna cemetry. H. P. Braun Funeral Rite Held Monday Funeral services were held Monday at the Zion Congregational church for one of the oldest residents of Adams county, Henry Peter Braun, who died April 28 at Hillcrest manor. The 94-year-old pioneer, the son of John Jacob Braun and Marie Katherine Heberline, had lived in Adams county since 1906. He was born October 25, 1870, in Walter, Russia, and migrated to Lincoln, Neb., August 28, 1898. He was a railroad employee during his eight-year stay in Nebraska. During his entire stay in Adams county he was engaged in wheat farming, having purchased land west of Ritzville. He retired from active farming in 1928 and moved to his home in Ritzville. While in Russia he served four years in the Russian army, first in the Fifth Artillery Battery and later as a clarinetist in the Russian army band. On February 17, 1896, he was married to Katherine Elizabeth Schoessler who preceded him in death in July 1962. He became a resident of Hillcrest following her death. He is survived by seven sons, Henry and Sam of Odessa, Joel of Tacoma, Elmer of Clayton, Howard of San Francisco, Calif., and Reinholt and Aaron of Ritzville; four daughters, Mrs. Lee (Esther) Mustola of Manteca, Calif., Miss Dorothy Braun of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Henry B. (Amelia) Schafer and Mrs. Richard H. (Laura) Miller of Ritzville. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Rev. Beryl Melcher and the Rev. Alex Rehn conducted services with the Rev. Rehn in charge of graveside services. Milton Sackmann sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden." He was a accompanied by Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were six of his grandsons, Wayne Braun, Sam Braun, jr., Thomas Braun, Merle Braun, Gerald Braun and David Braun. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 13, 1965 Mrs. Becker's Funeral Rite Will Be Today Funeral service for Mrs. Henry F. Becker will be held at Emanuel Lutheran church at 2 o'clock today. She died suddenly at her home Monday morning, apparently from a heart attack. Her husband had returned from driving a school bus route, and they were eating breakfast together at their home at 109 East Birch avenue. She was born Pauline Linger, the daughter of John and Mary Catherine Linger, in Portland, Ore., on May 18, 1901. She and Henry F. Becker were married January 11, 1922, at Emanuel Lutheran church here. Mrs. Becker attended the Allert school near Schragg and had lived at Ritzville most of her life. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church. He husband and six children survive. The children are Alvin Becker of Rupert, Ida., Mrs. Ray B. (Irma) Johnston of Bellevue; Lorane Becker of Walla Walla; Mrs. Melvin (Ruth) Gust of Ritzville; Delmar Becker of Kellogg, Ida.; and Mrs. Howard D. (Julia Ann) Maier of Seattle. Two sisters and two brothers survive. The brothers are John Linger of Yakima and Alex Linger of Bellevue. The sisters are Mrs. Marie Heimbigner of Harrington and Mrs. Ralph Basset, Arroyo Grande, Calif. Seven grandchildren survive. The Rev. Albert Wagner will conduct the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Ken Arlt, Scott Barr, Vernon Kiehn, Walter Becker, Ron Becker and Victor Becker. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery here. Lois Sue Ahern Funeral Service Held Here Monday Funeral services were held Monday at the Danekas Funeral home here for Mrs. Lois Sue Ahern of Spokane. She died Friday at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane following an illness. She had been at the hospital a month. She was born May 13, 1921, in Ritzville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schuler. She was married to Ernest Ahern who survives her as do a daughter and a son. The daughter is Pamela Jo, at home in Spokane, and the son is Kenny Ahern of Spokane. She was a member of the Lutheran church. Her mother, Mrs. Ida Schuler of Ritzville, survives. there are three sisters, Mrs. Verna Burgess of Moses Lake, Mrs. Lorean Zier of Salem, Ore., and Mrs June Sielaff of Ritzville. A brother, Clifford Schuler of Ritzville survives. The Rev. Beryl Melcher conducted the funeral service. Pallbearers were Glen Johnson, Steven Sielaff, Douglass Daggett, Orville Ahern, Robert Smith and Del Gene Smith. Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. Ernest Heavener Funeral is Held Ernest Heavener, a brother of Mrs. Ida Schuler of Ritzville, died Monday at his home in Airway Heights in Spokane. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Hazen & Jaeger Funeral home. He was 71 years of age and had barbered at his home in recent years. Heavener spent his boyhood years in Ritzville and went to World War I from here. He later ran horses. His wife Clara survives him as do two sisters, Mrs. Schuler and Mrs. Grace Gustaveson of Portland, Ore. Funeral services for Pike Rowe Is Held Tuesday Ira Paul "Pike" Rowe was buried here Tuesday. He died Friday of last week. He had been fishing and returning home in Davenport apparently collapsed while working in the yard. The deceased was born November 8, 1896, at Warren, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnathan F. Rowe. The family came west in 1898. Pike grew up in Ritzville and went off to World War I from here. Returning from the service he went to work for the Washington Water Power Co., remaining in their employee until his recent retirement. In 1940 the company transferred him from Ritzville to Davenport. There about 20 years ago he was wed to Miss Rose Schragg, who also had been employed by the power company. He was a member of the American Legion post here, and members of that post conducted the graveside service here at 1 o'clock. Members of the post also formed a firing squad to pay the deceased final tribute. Services were held at Davenport at the Strate Funeral home at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Lutz conducting them. Surviving are his wife and three sisters and brothers; Mrs. Elsie Rudebaugh, Mrs. Irene McMurray, both of Ritzville; Miss Marjorie Rowe of Bremerton; and Gerald, Clint and John, all of Ritzville. William Grieb Dies at 74 HATTON - William C. Grieb, 74, formerly of Hatton, a retired tractor operator for Potlatch Forests, Inc., at Headquarters and a resident of Lewiston, Ida., for ten years, died at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane Saturday morning following surgery. Grieb was born October 26, 1890, at Chicago, Ill., the son of Jacob and Minnie Grieb. While still a child he moved with his parents to Hatton, where his father operated a ranch. He married Clara Greving at Spokane October 27, 1917, and returned with her to the Hatton area where he farmed until 1925. They moved to Spokane where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator. Survivors in addition to his widow include two sons, Merland of Moscow, Ida., and Donald (Bob) of Aberdeen; two brothers, Charles W. of Spokane, and Bert of Walla Walla (formerly of Hatton); a sister, Mrs. Emma Schaefer of Ritzville; and six grandchildren. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 20, 1965 Charles Kent Funeral Rite is Wednesday Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Danekas Funeral home for Charles Henry Kent. He died Sunday at Hillcrest manor where he had been a resident for five months. He was 85 years of age. Kent was born July 20, 1879, at Centralia, Ill., the son of William and Emma Kinsey Kent. He attended Brown's business college and Illinois Normal school, both at Bloomington. He and Pauline Panzau were wedded at Centralia on January 15, 1908. He had come to Ritzville in 1902 as a bookkeeper for the White River Lumber Co. In 1904 he homesteaded near Benge. He was a retired Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railroad company employee as well as a retired farmer. He was a member of the Benge Community church, Benge Grange No. 944 and the Modern Woodmen of America. Three sons and four daughters survive their father. The sons are Wibur Kent, Maupin, Ore.; and Herbert and Alfred Kent, Benge. The daughters are Virginia Gregory, Spokane; Emma Honn, Benge; Anita Haspedis, Spokane; and Mary Ann McWilliams, Minneapolis, Minn. There are 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Thomas Kent of Centralia, Ill., survives. His wife Pauline and two sons, Cyril and Kent, preceded the deceased in death. Dr. Mark Lee of Spokane, minister of the Benge Community church, conducted the funeral here. Pallbearers were Frank Connell, Ronald Watkins, Keith Connell, William Allert, Dick Parrish and John Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Mitchell, Allen Scott, Art Barnes, Roy Scott, George Calloway, Joe Curalli, A. A. Erickson and P. B. Calloway. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Mrs Nora Watson Succumbs at Omak HATTON - Word was received here the first of last week that Mrs. Nora Thurlove (Ethelbert) Watson died suddenly of a heart attack at her home in Omak on May 9. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William (Helen) Krinke of Twisp, Mrs. Harry (Gladys) Ely of Omak, Mrs. Neil (Ferrell) Potter of Wenatchee and several grandchildren. Funeral services and interment were at Twisp on Wednesday afternoon. Ethelbert Watson was a former Adams county resident as his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Watson homesteaded the place now farmed by Dwayne Gering. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, May 27, 1965 Eunice Shimek Funeral Rite Held At Lind Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lind Methodist church for Eunice H. Shimek, 65, who died Saturday of heart failure at the Adams County Memorial hospital. She was born January 17, 1900, at Tillamook, Ore., the daughter of John and Alice Howton. She was married to J. E. Shimek August 20, 1920, at Portland, Ore. She was reared in the Sandhills area and attended grade school there. She attended high school in Kahlotus where she and her sister were in the first graduating class. Mrs. Shimek resided in Kahlotus ten years after completing high school and spent the rest of her life in the Lind area. She was a member of the Lind Methodist church and was a past president of the WSCS of the church. She was a charter member of the Lind Grange. She was active in the Girl Scouts, the Heart association, and was rural chairman of the American Red Cross for many years. The Rev. Roger Johnson was in charge of the service. Interment was at the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers were Ruben Knodel, Clarence Strohmaier, Bob Phillips, Jeff Krehbiel, Lenard Roth and John Barnett. She is survived by her husband at the home in Lind; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Maier of Lind, Mrs. Harry Tenneson of Seattle, and Mrs. Mel Schrader of Spokane, and one son, Jack Shimek of Lind. She also is survived by two brothers and four sisters and 13 grandchildren. Miss Floether Is Laid To Rest At Lind Monday Funeral services were held Monday in Odessa for Sharon Gayle Floether. Sharon, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Floether of five miles southwest of Odessa, died May 20 at Virginia Mason hospital in Seattle. She died following an operation on her heart. Miss Floether was graduated from Odessa high school in 1964 and had been attending the Metropolitan business college in Seattle. The Rev. B. M. Schafer conducted the funeral services at the United Congregational church. The deceased is survived by her parents and by two brothers and a sister, Gary, Douglas and Janice, all at home. Sharon was the Floethers' second oldest child. She was born March 24, 1945, at Ritzville. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Floether, John Scheeler, Clarence Fode, Raymond Fode, Albert Kramer and Ruben Fode. Strate Funeral home of Davenport was in charge of arrangements. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 3, 1965 Mrs. Hadlock Succumbs Here Mrs. Sadie Hadlock of Benge, a resident at Hillcrest manor, died yesterday afternoon there. She was 78 years of age. She had been a resident of Benge for nearly 40 years. Her husband, Jack C. Hadlock, preceded her in death about 20 years ago and is buried at the Sandhills cemetery. A son, Clifford Hadlock of Benge, and three brothers survive her. The brothers are Frank Connell of Benge, Dee Connell of Prosser and Tic Connell of Washtucna. Funeral arrangements were pending. Christina Selcho Funeral Services Will Be Friday Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 for Mrs. Christina Selcho at the Danekas Funeral chapel. She died Tuesday at Hillcrest manor at the age of 77 years. She was born June 16, 1887, in Russia and had been a resident of the U.S. and Adams county for 59 years. She was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church. Surviving their mother are two daughters and a son. The daughters are Sade Selcho of San Francisco and Mrs. Joseph Harlow of Dayton, Ohio. the son is Clarence Fleming of Seattle. A step son, John Selcho of Ritzville, also survives, as do four grandchildren. The Rev. R. Kirschenmann of Lind will conduct the funeral service. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Charles Brennan Rite Will Be Here Today Charles Brennan, husband of the former Helen Schafer, the daughter of Conrad Schafer, died at Providence hospital in Seattle Sunday morning. Surviving are his wife, his mother, one sister and two brothers. Fuenral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. from Yarington Funeral home at White Center with graveside services to be held at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery Thursday (today) at 3 p.m. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 10, 1965 Mrs. Hadlock Funeral Held Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie A. Hadlock were held Saturday afternoon at the Danekas Funeral home chapel. Mrs. Hadlock, a resident of the Benge community for about 40 years, died Wednesday of last week at Hillcrest manor where she had been a resident for about two months. She was born in Missouri on December 2, 1886. The Rev. James Updike conducted the funeral service. Pallbearers were Alfred Kent, Robert Clinesmith, Dick Parish, Keith Honn, Carl Beckley and Charles Saunders. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Survivors include a son, E. C. Hadlock of Benge; and three brothers, Frank Connell of Benge; Tic Connell of Washtucna, and Dee Connell of Prosser. Her husband, Jack C. Hadlock, preceded her in death about 20 years ago and is buried at the Sandhills cemetery. Mrs. Cal Messinger's Death Is Reported Mrs. Cal (Marge) Messinger died Tuesday in a Spokane hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schafer received word of her death by phone. The Messingers' home is at Lewiston, Ida. Mr. Messinger was commercial teacher in the high school here to eight years. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 17, 1965 H. Heimbigner Services Held on Wednesday Funeral services for Henry Heimbigner were held at Philadelphia Congregational church Wednesday afternoon. He had lived in Adams county 76 of his 94-year-life. Heimbigner died Friday at Hillcrest manor. He had been the first resident there when the new rest home was opened here. Henry Heimbigner was born December 15, 1870, in Russia. He came to the United States when he was 16 years old and spent two years in the Walla Walla area. Five daughters and four sons survive. The daughters are Mrs. H. P. (Lydia) Weber, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Fred (Erma) Rehn, Mrs. M. S. (Edna) Prihar and Miss Nellie Heimbigner, all of Spokane; and Mrs. Arthur (Hattie) O'Donnell, Moscow, Ida. The sons are Herman and Frank Heimbigner of Ritzville, Andrew Heimbigner of Ellensburg and Chris Heimbigner of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Henry Gettman of Odessa. There are 19 grandchildren. He was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church. The Rev. Albert Hausauer of Odessa and the Rev. Beryl Melcher conducted the funeral services. A men's quartet, Jess Graber, Jake Hoefel, Elmer Heimbigner and Carl Hoefel, sang two selections, "In The Garden" and "Naher Daheim." Mrs. Robert Heider accompanied them on the organ. Pallbearers were Herschel Heimbigner, Craig Heimbigner, Bill Jobb, Bob Jobb, Archie Rehn and Al Rehn. Concluding services and vault interment were held at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, June 24, 1965 George Wing Laid To Rest on Tuesday Funeral services were held at the Lind Methodist church for George L. Wing, resident of this country since 1898. He died at Hillcrest manor here on June 17. He was born December 9, 1877, at Vermontsville, Mich., the son of Elijah and Louise Wing. George attended school at Three Rivers, Mich., where is father had a barber shop. Leaving home at 14, George barbered in Michigan and at Goldendale, Wash. In 1898 he came to Ritzville to barber. In 1901 he moved to Lind, continued barbering and farmed 400 acres until 1903. As a hobby he raised English fox hounds. In April of 1904 he married Ida May Justice. Two daughters were born to them, Georgia Louise in 1905 and Elva in 1907. Mrs. Wing died in 1909. In 1912 he bought land west of Lind, built a home there and farmed and raised dairy cattle. He later moved his family to town, bought real estate, did construction, at the same time managing his variety store and barbering. He was an active member of the IOOF lodge until his recent illness. Surviving are his two daughters, Mrs. Georgia Meisner of Redding, Calif., and Mrs. Elva Madison of Post Falls, Ida. There are also four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren living. A duet, Mrs. Emil Fode and Mrs. Al Smart, sang "In The Garden" and "Rock of Ages" at the funeral. Mrs. Arthur Franz accompanied them on the organ. The Rev. Roger Johnson conducted the funeral services. Pallbearers were Sherman Smart, Bill Curry, Al Weston, Henry Phillips, Fred Ott and Clarence Stratton. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Merrill Rites Are Saturday Funeral services for Charles W. Merrill will be held at the Danekas Funeral chapel Saturday at 2 o'clock. Merrill died Tuesday while at work near Lamont for the Spokane, Portland and Seattle railway. His home was in Ritzville. He was born in Maine on August 17, 1913. Surviving are his wife Dora Merrill at home; his mother, Mercy Grant of New York; a sister, Ann Cummings of Portland, Maine; and a brother, Guy Merrill of Norway, Maine. The Rev. W. B. MacHenry will conduct the funeral services. Burial will be at Ritzville Memorial cemetery.
