He died suddenly Thursday afternoon as he went out of his home to get into his car. The funeral and graveside rites were accompanied by a guard of American Legion members who fired their rifles in unison at the grave. Taps were sounded. Carl Wesley Eckhardt was born April 13, 1915, in Ritzville. He attended school here and attended Washington State college for two and a half years, studying electrical engineering. During World War II he served, enlisting as a second lieutenant pursuit pilot in December of 1941. Of his five years of service, three years and eight campaigns were in North Africa. the Mediterranean and European theatres. He was an assistant squadron engineering officer, fighter squadron commander, fighter wing operations officer aircraft control and warning group commander to base commander. He was separated from the air force reserves as a major in 1955. He married Dorothea Kembel and they had one son, Carl W. Eckhardt, jr.. His wife and son survive him here at the home at 209 E. Fourth avenue. Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eckhardt of Ritzville; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Murray of Wenatchee and Mrs. Bernadine Wright of Spokane, and a brother, Walter Eckhardt of Richland. He was a member of the Episcopal church, F&AM lodge No. 101, the Lions club, C. J. Newland post of the American Legion, all of Ritzville; and of the Spokane club. He belonged to Sigma Nu fraternity. He was a Republican State central committeeman from Adams county for many years, and recently had become the member with the most senority on its executive committee. He was a past president of the Adams County Association of Wheat Growers and a past member and vice-president of the board of directors of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers. The Rev. John Dempsey conducted the Episcopal service for the burial of the dead. Gordon Swyter sang "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were William Charlton, Edward Cross, Jay Salkield, Frank Buford, Donald Kiehn and William Eckhardt. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Timm, David Hoefel, Dr. George Fast, L. E. Klock, W. Walters Miller, Virgil Treadwell, Robert Stanfield and Roland Kessler. Interment was at the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Allen's Life Lost in Rock Crusher Accident Friday Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home for Harold Jack "Butch" Allen of Spokane. He died in an accident at the rock crusher pit along Wellsandt road about three miles east of Ritzville Friday afternoon. Allen had lived in Ritzville until about a year ago. He was born in Salt Lake City, October 18, 1934. His home in Spokane was at 3612 East Grace. Surviving are his widow, Moreen, two daughters by a previous marriage and two stepsons, Rickey and Montey. There are also two brothers. Allen had served his country in its armed forces. He was employed as a surveyor by the state highway department. The Rev. Roger K. Johnson of Lind conducted the funeral service. Pallbearers were John Whilt, Donald Walker, Harold Noah, John Larson, Herbert Pease and Howard Riebe. Honorary pallbearers were Pat Davis, Paul Drake, Imes Dodgen and John Odette. Burial was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 13, 1967 Funeral Services for Mrs. Floether Is Held Monday Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Danekas Funeral home for Mrs. Barbara Floether. The Rev. R. Kirschenmann of Lind conducted the service. Milton Sackmann sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer." Organist was Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were Otto Floether, Thomas C. Tenneson, Bert R. Bickel, Charles Minion, Mel Adams and Kermit Pollack. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Mrs. Floether died July 4 at Royal City. She was born July 17, 1939. She is survived by her husband Bernard and three daughters, Arlye L., Melesina M. and Glenda K. Also surviving are a brother, Carl Bergman, Royal City; a sister, Mrs. Claudine Scoggin of Portland, Ore.; her father, Alfred Bergman of California, and her mother, Mrs. Klea Bergman of Royal City. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 20, 1967 Mrs. Walt Haase Funeral Service Friday at 2 p.m. Funeral services for Thelma Lorraine Haase will be held at Zion Congregational church at 2 o'clock tomorrow. She died Tuesday in Spokane following an illness of nearly two years. She was a member of Zion Congregational church and of its Mary's circle and Daughters of Zion. Thelma Lorraine Keiper was born September 18, 1914, at Wilbur. She lived in Ritzville the past 20 years. Survivors include her husband Walt and a son, George, at home. Also surviving are her mother, Margaret Keiper of Ritzville; a sister, Mrs. Louise Greene of Vancouver, and a brother, Marvin Keiper of Tacoma. The Rev. Beryl Melcher will conduct the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Walter, Marvin and Raymond Schoessler, Howard Ragsdale, Gideon Bentz and Calvin Miller. Interment will be made in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. AT PALOUSE FALLS Drowning Takes Life of Schumaker WASHTUCNA - Dick Schumaker lost his life in a drowning accident at the base of Palouse Falls Thursday evening of last week. He had gone there with a friend, Bob Mansfield. The body was recovered after midnight by a group of skin diver volunteers who went to the pool from Pasco. Dick, age 20, had returned home in January having served a hitch in the U. S. Navy. He was born February 11, 1947, at Fulton, N.Y. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schumaker, and a sister, Kathy, at home. Also surviving are many uncles, aunts and cousins. Two sisters of Dick's mother came from their home at Maxbass, N. Dak., to be with Mrs. Schumaker. They are Mrs. Milton Fossum and Mrs. Nels Tengesdal. The Rev. Ralph Smith conducted the funeral service at the Washtucna Community church Monday morning. Mrs. Lester Snyder sang "What A Friend We Have in Jesus," and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Her accompanist was Mrs. F. R. West, jr. Pallbearers were Dewayne Blankenship, Daniel Bachman, Wayne Neace, Larry Sackmann, Gene Allen and Bob Nutt. Bob Mansfield and Rod Kinch, jr., were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Washtucna cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, July 27, 1967 Clara Luiten Funeral Rite on Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Luiten were held Saturday morning at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home. She died at the Adams County Memorial hospital Wednesday of last week after being a patient there for three days. For the last three years she had lived at Hillcrest manor. Mrs. Luiten was 87 years of age when she died. Clara Luiten was born in Germany December 27, 1879, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schwerin. When she was five years of age she came to the United States with her parents. They lived in Wisconsin for several years before moving to a homestead north of Ritzville in 1886. In 1898 she was married to John Luiten and lived in the Marcellus district until 1926 when they moved to Spokane. They remained there until Mr. Luiten's death in 1964, just a few days after celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary. After her husband's death Mrs. Luiten came to Hillcrest manor in Ritzville to make her home. She is survived by two brothers, Paul Schwerin of Kettle Falls and Charles Schwerin of Ritzville. There are also numerous nieces and nephews surviving. Three sisters and two brothers preceded Mrs. Luiten in death, Mrs. Frieda Van Buren, Mrs. W. A. Arlt, Mrs. Jacob Eckhardt, Frank and Fred Schwerin. The Rev. Roy Johnson, Lutheran pastor at Lind, conducted the funeral service. Dr. Bruce Hille sang "Take My Life," and "Let It Be," and "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind." His accompanist was Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were Harry Arlt, Gordon Schwerin, Earl Luiten, William Schwerin, Dick Stockman and Elmer Luiten. Interment was at Fairmont Memorial cemetery at Spokane. Solomon Thaut Funeral Service Is Held Tuesday Solomon Thaut died Saturday at the veteran hospital in Spokane. Funeral services were held at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. He had been in poor health the last several years. He was born August 3, 1914, at Ritzville. He was confirmed at Zion Congregational church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post at Spokane and of C. J. Newland post No. 51 of the American Legion here. He served during World War II in the Pacific theatre. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Judy) End of Dayton, and two grandsons. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Alex (Katie) Stamm of Milwaukee, Wisc., Mrs. Alvin (Lydia) Wagner of Ritzville, Mrs. Fred (Gloria) Wiber of Hardin, Mont., and Mrs. Jim (Amelia) Donner of Spokane. Three brothers survive, Harold Thaut of Lamont and Lavine and Rudy Thaut of Ritzville. The Rev. Beryl Melcher conducted the funeral services. Milton Sackmann sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were Frank Miller, Danny Schell, Johnnie Tufts, Fred Schell, Victor Hilzer and George Knoll. The Legion post color guard took part in the service. Cremation followed in Spokane. Mrs. Schutz Rites Will Be Saturday Mrs. Amelia Schutz died at 4 o'clock Wednesday morning in Spokane. She was 88 years of age. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home. Dr. J. C. Lindsay Funeral Mass Held Monday Friends paid their last respects to Dr. J. Colin Lindsay Tuesday evening as the Rev. John O'Brien conducted a memorial mass at St. Agnes Catholic church in Ritzville. Earlier a funeral mass was celebrated by the Rev. Charles M. Depiere with the Rev. Edward Kowrach assisting, in Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane on Monday with interment services following at Holy Cross cemetery in Spokane. Father Depiere offered a rosary service for Dr. Lindsay Sunday evening at the Smith Funeral home in Spokane. Dr. Lindsay succumbed to a valiant battle with cancer early last Thursday morning, some four-and-a-half years after cancer was first detected. He had undergone several surgeries. John Collin Lindsay was born August 10, 1908, to Mr. and Mrs. Alec J. Lindsay in Nome, Alaska. He spent his boyhood and early adult life in Spokane. He was graduated from Gonzaga university in Spokane and from Creighton Medical school in Omaha, Neb. His medical internship was completed at Providence hospital in Seattle. Dr. Lindsay practiced five years in Spokane before being assigned by the War Manpower Commission (during World War II) to a construction detail in Alaska. He came to Ritzville from Alaska 24 years ago and has practiced here since. For a short period he was joined by an associate, Dr. Tom Middleton. His death Thursday brought an end to a career in private and public medicine. He was Adams county health officer for many years and was active in the organization and building of the Adams County Memorial hospital in Ritzville. He served a term on the state board of health at the appointment of the then Governor Albert Rosellini. He was the official company doctor for the Northern Pacific and Milwaukee railroad employees in this area. He was an honorary member of the Washington State patrol and an Adams County deputy sheriff. He married Miss Aileen Chittenden September 25, 1940, who survives him at the home as does a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Colleen) Anderson of Ephrata and one grandson, Ronald Anderson. He is also survived by two brothers, Roderick A. Lindsay and Donald P. Lindsay of Spokane. Dr. Lindsay was listed in "Who's Who in the West." Dr. Lindsay was a member of St. Agnes Catholic church, the Spokane Country club, Eagles lodge, American Medical association, Washington Medical association, Tri-county Medical association and the Ritzville chamber of commerce. Pallbearers at Monday's service were Victor Wellsandt and Clarence Hynes of Ritzville, Robert Carter of Ephrata, William Gleason and William Rast of Seattle and Dr. Milo Harris of Spokane. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Bernard, jr., Dan Anderson, Gordon Wellsandt and W. Walters Miller of Ritzville, Thomas A. Hanson of Spokane and Fred Meckel of Coeur d'Alene, Ida. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 3, 1967 Schutz Funeral Held Saturday at Chapel Here Mrs. Amelia Schutz died Wednesday of last week at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane after being a patient there only two days. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home. She was born December 25, 1878, at Kulm, Russia, and had been a resident of this community most of her life. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emanuel Haag of Ritzville and Mrs. Rudolph Gust of Spokane; and three sons, Theodore Schultz of Sprague, Alexander Schutz of Grandview and Raymond Schutz of Kent. There are five grandchildren surviving. Mrs. Schutz was a member of Zion Congregational church. The Rev. R. W. Reiger conducted the funeral service. Pallbearers were Theodore, Alexander and Raymond Schutz, Dallas Haag, Robert Kennedy and Lawrence Hoffman. Burial was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 10, 1967 Scofield Dies At Age of 80 Ralph Scofield, former Lind newspaper publisher, died last week at his home in Des Moines, a suburb of Seattle. Scofield operated the Lind Leader from about 1935 to 1940. He also formerly published the Sumas News and other Northwest newspapers. He had been superintendent of the printing department at Washington State college from 1920 to 1928. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, John R. Scofield, and a daughter, Mrs. Jack May, both of Seattle. The deceased was 80 years of age. Charles A. Labes Services Are Set at Lind Saturday Funeral services for Charles August Labes, sr., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Hope Lutheran church in Lind. He died Thursday at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane at the age of 82 years. He was born in Wisconsin. A daughter, Mrs. Emma Meske of Spokane, survives as do four sons. They are Harry of Ritzville, Bejamin and Raymond of Portland, Ore., and Charles, jr., of Lind. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Hattie Biermann of Lind and a brother, William Labes of Tacoma. There are 10 grandchildren. The deceased was a member of Good Hope Lutheran church at Lind. Most of his life was spent as custodian at the Lind high school. The Rev. Roy Johnson will conduct the funeral. Interment will be in the Lind cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 17, 1967 Schuhmacher Rite Held In Sprague Monday Morning Father Ambrose Meyer said mass for Helen J. Schuhmacher Monday morning at the Mary Queen of Heaven church in Sprague. Rosary had been held the evening before. Mrs. Schuhmacher died last Friday after being a patient at Adams County Memorial hospital for 15 days. She was born August 18, 1895, in Minnesota. Survivors are two daughters and a son. The daughters are Geraldine Thorsen of Seattle and Mrs. Rosemary Tomaskie of Beaverton, Ore. the son is Louis Schuhmacher of Chester, Mont. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe and Leonard Sofar of Ogema, Minn., and a sister, Agnes Wacha of Olivia, Minn. Sister Mary is a granddaughter. Burial was at Chester, Mont. Pallbearers were A. F. Doerschlag, Vincent Jirava, Wayne Jirava, Gilbert Polda, Bill Schmick and Richard Whipple. Fred Kechter Laid to Rest Here Saturday Funeral services for Fred Kechter were held at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home Saturday morning. He died August 10. Fred was born December 27, 1904, the son of Jacob and Catherine Kechter, in Kolb, Russia. He came with his parents from Russia direct to Ritzville. He started working for the railroad in 1921 in Ritzville. On August 4, 1933, he was married to Helen Werttemberger. A daughter, Vanita, was born to them. From 1933 to 1945 Kechter worked for the railroad at Lind. From there the family moved to Wheeler where he worked until 1965 when he retired from the railroad and moved to Moses Lake. When he lived in Ritzville he was confirmed in Emanuel Lutheran church by Pastor Just. Those surviving him are his wife Helen, daughter, Mrs. George Beckman of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Christel of Tacoma and Mrs. Emanuel Klemmer of Vancouver; two brothers, Edward and Victor Kechter of Tacoma and two nieces. The Rev. Floyd Yokers conducted the funeral. Pallbearers were Harry Werttemberger, Donald Wright, Calvin Boos, Martin Elliott, Rudy Thaut and Lawrence Werttemberger. Burial was at the Lutheran cemetery in Ritzville. Father of Dean Whitworth Dies The father of Dean Whitworth, Roy Whitworth of East Wenatchee, died Saturday at a Wenatchee hospital. Dean was formerly Northern Pacific agent in Ritzville and is now the railroad agent at Grandview. Funeral services were held at the Chapel of the Valley in Wenatchee Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fickle attended the service and stayed overnight with the Dean Whitworths at Wenatchee. The senior Whitworth had been a hydroelectric operator. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 24, 1967 Hatton Woman's Father Succumbs HATTON - Funeral services for Fred Reiter, 70, of Toppenish, who died at St. Elizabeth hospital in Yakima August 15 were held at Hopkins mortuary August 18. Interment was in the Elwood cemetery at Toppenish. Reiter was born in Russia on May 18, 1897. He was a retired farmer, and had been a resident of Toppenish for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Louise Reiter at the home, four sons and four daughters, including Mrs. Lyle Brown of Hatton; three sisters and one brother. He had 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Conrad Hein Laid To Rest Here Friday Funeral services for Conrad Hein, jr., of Harrington were held at Emanuel Lutheran church here Friday morning. He died August 15 at Deaconess hospital in Spokane where he had undergone an operation and was recovering. A blood clot reaching the heart apparently brought about his death. Conrad Hein was born May 22, 1898, in Russia and came with his parents to the United States. The family settled on a farm south of Odessa. Conrad was married February 25, 1917, in Ritzville to Katherine Becker. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last February. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hein, jr., farmed in the Odessa area for a number of years. In 1935 they moved to a farm near Mohler. Then in 1948 they built a home in Harrington and moved there to live. The Heins' home had been at Harrington ever since. Surviving are his wife Katherine, twin daughters, Florence Norby of Kalispell, Mont., and Mrs. Frances Manke of Harrington; a daughter Mrs. Virginia Wheeler of Seattle, and a son, Virgil Hein of Harrington. Ten grandchildren also survive. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Anna Blair of Santa Ana, Calif., and three brothers, Henry of Tacoma, John of Chehalis and Jacob of Walla Walla. Conrad Hein was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church and of the Grange at Harrington. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery here. Pallbearers were Emil Bischoff, of Ritzville, Chester Gilbert, Clifford Swenson, Robert Henderson, Lyle Coleman and Harvey Nitschke, all of Harrington. E.V. Herring Funeral Rites Set for Today Funeral services for Everett V. Herring will be held at Trinity Methodist church today at 2 o'clock. He died Monday at Adams County Memorial hospital after an illness of several years. Herring was 50 years of age. He was born December 20, 1916, at Ritzville and lived here all his life. He attended Ritzville schools and graduated from high school here. He entered the U. S. Army May 16, 1945, and was separated December 20, 1946. He operated his father's farm 10 miles northwest of Ritzville. He is survived by his wife Myrtle at home; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Herring of Walla Walla; a sister, Mrs. James (Lucille) Stager, Aberdeen, and three brothers, Donald of Seattle, Robert of Liberty Lake and Darrell of Spokane. Everett Herring was a member of the Methodist church, C. J. Newland post of the American Legion, the Ritzville Gun club, the Adams county unit of the American Farm Bureau and the Adams county Wheat Growers association. The Rev. Donald Cramer will conduct the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Rudy Vostral, Roy Evanson, Robert Barnes, George Kubik, Lawrence Kramer and Leonard Ferderer. Honorary pallbearers are to be Gustav Klettke, Dr. William Brock, Coonie Lesser, Bob Hays and Dick Hays. Burial will be in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. C. J. Newland post of the American Legion will conduct military rites at the graveside. Funeral Service for Mrs. Ross Will Be Today Funeral services for Mrs. Lula S. Ross of Walla Walla will be this afternoon at 2 o'clock. She died August 21 in the Walla Walla General hospital. She and her husband were for many years residents of the Washtucna community. She was born March 15, 1882, in Helix, Ore. She attended school in Weston, Ore. On December 15, 1916, she was married to William S. Ross at Walla Walla. They moved to Washtucna and farmed there until their retirement about 18 years ago. The husband died in 1953. Mrs. Ross has lived at Walla Walla since then. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Walla Walla and of the Progressive club in Washtucna as well as Rimrock Grange at Washtucna. A daughter, Mrs. Howard (Bonnie) Johnson and a son Roderick W. Ross, both of Washtucna, survive together with five grandchildren. There are two surviving children, Mrs. Zillah Johnston of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Edna Stange of San Mateo, Calif. Funeral services will be in the chapel of the Marshall Herring Funeral home in Walla Walla. The Rev. Lawrence Mitchelmore will conduct the service. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery at Walla Walla. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, August 31, 1967 Funeral Service of Mrs. Sickman Will be Friday Funeral services for Margaret Sickman will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home. She died Tuesday at Hillcrest manor at the age of 75 years. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Clara Anderson of Moses Lake, Mrs. Louise Stevenson of Milwaukie, Ore., and Mrs. Jean Epperson of Wilbur. One son, Major James Sickman of San Antonio, Tex., survives his mother. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Helen Buehler of Oak Harbor and a brother, R. E. McGrath of Pittsburg, Kas. There are 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren who survive. Mrs. Sickmann was employed at Pfann's Pharmacy for 17 years. The Rev. Roger Johnson of Lind will conduct the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Wilf Moore, Gus Klettke, Bob Benzel, Ray Rummer, Kermit Wellsandt and Edward Seigel. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Rosenoff, Dr. A. H. Varnes, Rudy Plager and Elmer Schoesler. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, September 7, 1967 Last Rites Held for Laura Schelly Here On Tuesday Graveside services were held at Ritzville Memorial cemetery Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Laura Henrietta Schelly. A Spokane resident, she had lived there 31 years since the death of her husband, Charles F. Schelly. She was born at Harrington February 15, 1885, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Adam Buehler, pioneer minister of the Inland Empire. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Adeline Walker and Mrs. Mildred Cooper, both of Spokane, Mrs. Melva Harthill of Rosalia and Mrs. Idarose Colwell of Ritzville. A son, A. Lee Schelly of Moses Lake survives. There are seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren surviving. Also two sisters survives, Mrs. Ida Kludos of Goldendale and Mrs. Olga Wawrinofsky, Olympia. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, September 21, 1967 Katherine Thiel Funeral Service Will Be Friday Funeral services will be this afternoon at 2 o'clock for Katherine Margaret Thiel. The Rev. Beryl Melcher will conduct them at Zion Congregational church here. Mrs. Thiel died at Adams County Memorial hospital Tuesday. She had been a resident of Hillcrest manor the past 28 months. Katherine Margaret Schoessler was born October 26, 1883, at Walla Walla, Wash., the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Schoessler. When she was six the family moved to Ritzville. In 1903 she was married to Fred Thiel. The Fred Thiels were in business in Ritzville until 1920 when they moved to Astoria, Ore. Her husband died there in 1948. She moved back to Ritzville a little over two years ago. Mrs. Thiel was a member of the Zion Congregational church. Mrs. John Schoessler of Astoria, Ore., is a sister-in-law. There are six nieces and 11 nephews surviving. Pallbearers will be Ellsworth Thiel, Lawrence Thiel, Clarence Thiel, Elmer Schoesler, Reuben Schoessler and Walter Schoessler. Burial will be in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. (Note: the headline states the funeral service will be Friday while the story states "today" with the paper published on Thursday. Rudolph Borth Funeral Held Wednesday Funeral services for Rudolph Borth were held yesteday afternoon at Zion Congregational church in Lind. He died suddenly Sunday at home or enroute to the Odessa hospital. He had been ill. Rudolph Borth was born October 25, 1896, at Berlin, Russia. He arrived in the United States in June of 1903 and had ever since been a resident of the Lind community. He was a retired wheat farmer. On December 19, 1922, he was married to Barbara Ottmar. His wife preceded him in death in 1964. There are five children surviving: Mrs. George (Eleanor) Pence of Lind, Mrs. Reinhold (Gloria) Sackmann of Lind, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Van Buren of Lewiston, Ida., Victor Borth of Lind and Cleve Borth of East Wentachee. Also surviving are two brothers, Fred of Lind and Sam of Portland, Ore., and a sister, Mrs. Jake Dirks of Spokane. There are 20 grandchildren surviving. The Rev. R. Kirschenmann conducted the services. Milton Sackmann sang "So Take My Hand," a German hymn and "He'll Understand and Say Well Done." His accompanist was Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were William Wahl, William Strohmaier, Rudolph Sauer, Ernest Heider, Ruben Knodel and Albert Sackmann. Burial was in the Lind cemetery.
