Janes. Janes was a barber here for many years having his shop in a building in the narrow space between the Pastime and Pfann's store. He suffered a heart attack at his home, Sherman Oaks, Calif., and died shortly after being taken to the hospital. A son, James, is a doctor. The family moved away from Ritzville many years ago. Committment of Lydia Wahl Held Monday Funeral services for Lydia Wahl were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Lind. She died Thursday of last week at the Deaconess hospital in Spokane. She had been a patient there for three weeks. Mrs. Wahl was born May 23, 1895, in Romania. She came with her parents to this country when she was 12 years of age and had been a resident of the Lind area for 60 years. She was a member of a Lind Methodist church and of its WSCS. Her husband, Edward F. Wahl, sr., six daughters and six sons survive her. The daughters are Mrs. Esther Ferrier of Spokane, Mrs. Viola Miller of Ritzville, Mrs. Jeannie Branson and Mrs. Phyllis Stelzer of Lind, Mrs. Arlene Starring of Coulee City and Mrs. Margie Becker of Cheney. The sons are Walter, Albert, Richard, Lenard and Edward, jr., all of Lind and Howard of Spokane. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Catherine Schoessler of Sunnyside and a brother, John Sackmann, of Burlington. There are 27 grandchildren and three great grandchildren surviving. The Rev. Roger Johnson conducted the funeral. Mrs. Shirley Devore sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Her accompanist was Mrs. Ruth Franz. Pallbearers were Leo Radach, Martin Sackmann, Norman Schoessler, Godfrey Meilke, Milton Sackmann and Elmer Sackmann. Honorary pallbearers were the Rev. R. Kirschenmann, Albert Gross, Harry Kasper, August Sackmann, William Strohmaier, John Shimek and Gus Klettke. Burial was in the Lind cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, October 12, 1967 Last Rites Held at Colfax Friday for Mrs. Ackerman BENGE - James and Charles Clinesmith received word of the death of their sister, Mrs. Maude Ackerman. She died at the Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane on Tuesday. James went to Spokane on Wednesday, bringing his sister, Mrs. Elma Elkins of Dayton, home with him. She was a guest until after the funeral at Colfax on Friday. Attending the funeral with her brothers, Mr. and Mrs. James Clinesmith and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clinesmith, nephews Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clinesmith and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clinesmith, and nieces Mr. and Mrs. Gary Jantz of Harrington and Mrs. Elmer Gettmann of Ritzville. Also attending were Mrs. Zona Connell, Mrs. Elda Stephenson, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Honn and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Norris. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 2, 1967 Former Teacher, Anna Siegel, Dies A former teacher in the Packard area, Miss Anna Marie Siegel, died in Seattle last Thursday. Sisters surviving are Mrs. Nick Bush of Chehalis, Mrs. Norma Willa of Tacoma, Miss Helen Siegel of Seattle and Mrs. Walter Allen of Naches. Surviving brothers are Edward of Ritzville, William of Chehalis and Adel of Tacoma. Funeral services were held Saturday in Gig Harbor. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 9, 1967 Harvey J. Yager Funeral Service Held at Connell Funeral services were held here October 30 for Harvey J. Yager of Connell. He had been a Ritzville resident many years ago. He died October 26 at the age of 80 years, having been born May 24, 1887. Survivors include his wife Amanda, at home in Connell; and a son, Harvey G. Yager of star route east, Othello. also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Tokke of Wembley, Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Edward Trollop of Redwater, Alberta, Can. A brother also survives at Connell, as well as three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The deceased was a member of Gideon Lutheran church at Connell and of the F&AM lodge at Othello. Services were at Gideon Lutheran churchn with the Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery at Ritzville beside a daughter buried here. Mrs. E. Kulm's Funeral Held Here Monday Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Kulm were held at Emanuel Lutheran church here Monday afternoon. Mrs. Kulm died Friday. She had been a resident of Hillcrest manor nursing home for the past three years, and at the Wiebe home for five and a half years prior to that. The past six weeks she was a patient at Adams County Memorial hospital. Soloist at the service was Milton Sackmann who sang "Jerusalem, My Happy Home." Mrs. Orville Moeller was organ accompanist. Pallbearers were grandsons Gerald Kulm, Marvin Greenwalt, Richard Kulm, Darrell Kulm, Robert Greenwalt and Freddie Kulm. Concluding services and vault interment took place at the Lind cemetery under the direction of the Danekas Funeral home. Elizabeth Orman Kulm was born September 21, 1894, in Hoffnosdall, Russia, where she became a member of the Lutheran church. She was the oldest of 12 children. She married John Kulm on January 31, 1907. The couple moved to Odessa May 22, 1908, and later moved to a farm near Ritzville where they lived from 1911 to 1915. Then they moved to the Schragg area where they farmed until retiring in 1946. They moved to Ritzville. The family affiliated with the Lutheran church. Mrs. Kulm was active in the ladies aid until her health failed. Her husband preceded her in death in 1949. One daughter and one son also preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jacob (Lydia) Greenwalt of Odessa, and six sons, Albert of Ritzville and Emil, John, Fred, Arthur and Edward of Lind. There are 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren surviving. Also surviving are three brothers, Henry Orman of Kennwick, Fred Orman of McLaughlin, S.D., and a brother and three sister in Siberia, Russia. Rite for Hunting Victim Held Saturday Several Ritzville people went to East Wenatchee Saturday to attend the funeral of Ray Keller who was killed in a recent hunting accident at High Prairie, Alberta, Can. Keller was the son of Mrs. Mary Keller of Cashmere, and the nephew of Mrs. Lawrence Thiel, Mrs. Gottlieb Kiesz and Mrs. Herman Heimbigner. Attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Thiel, Mr. and Mrs. Kiesz, Mr. and Mrs. Heimbigner, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Telecky, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Thiel, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Niendam, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kiesz, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Kiesz and Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Heimbigner of Harrington. Mrs. Harry Dence Succumbs Tuesday Friends here received word Wednesday of the death of Mrs. Harry Dence. She died Tuesday in a hospital in Mt. Vernon. The Dence home is at Stanwood. Funeral services were held there Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Dence are former Ritzville residents. Dence worked for the Journal-Times when Bill Wilmot was publisher. Mrs. Dence was active in the community and was a president of the woman's club. Mr. Dence survives his wife. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 16, 1967 John P. Miller Rites are Set This Afternoon John Philip Miller died here Sunday afternoon after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held today at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church in Odessa. The Rev. Mr. Richardson will conduct the service. Mr. Miller had been a patient at Adams County Memorial hospital since November 1 and a resident of Hillcrest manor the past three years. Prior to that he lived at Odessa, having come there from North Dakota and working for the city of Odessa before his retirement. He was 76 years of age. He is survived by his wife Louisa, at home in Odessa, a son, Richard of Ritzville and a son Paul of Vashon. There are four daughters who survive their father. They are Mrs. Anna Laib of Red Oak, Okla., Mrs. Alta Christman of Spokane, Mrs. Al Kruckenberg of Odessa and Mrs. Orville Richter, Stanton, N. Dak. There are also 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren surviving. Strate Funeral home of Davenport has charge of arrangements. Geo. Trautman Dies At Warden Funeral services for George Trautman of Warden will be at 1:30 Saturday at the Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake. Trautman died at Warden at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday of a heart attack. He had been a resident of Warden all his life. Survivors include nephews Pete and John Greenwalt of this community, and a niece, also of here, Mrs. Emil Bischoff. H. Hinrichs Laid to Rest Funeral services were held Monday at Danekas Funeral chapel for Henry Hinrichs. He died November 9 at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He was born February 8, 1891, in Germany and had been a resident of the Adams county area for 68 years. A retired farmer, he had never married. Surviving are five sisters, Ada Hinrichs of Kirkland, Mrs. May Rains of Spokane, Mrs. Carrie Camp of Chewelah, Miss Sena Hinrichs of Ritzville and Mrs. Tressie Schmidt of Spokane. He was a member of Zion Congregational church. The Rev. Beryl Melcher conducted the service. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Victor Donis Funeral to Be at 2 p.m. Today Funeral services for Victor Donis will be a 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Danekas Funeral chapel. He died during an auto accident last Friday afternoon about 1:30 between Ralston and Lind. He was on one of his accustomed Friday visiting days and is believed to have suffered a heart attack while driving. The car he was driving hit a bridge abutment at a speed considerably greater than the elderly man was accustomed to drive. Dr. Randall E. Davis of Spokane performed an autopsy. He reported a heart attack may already have set in before the auto accident occurred. He was born December 23, 1884, in the Volga region of Russia. As a young man there he taught the Russian language in the German colony of which he was a member. He came to this country in 1907 and first worked for farmers in the Ritzville area. His trip from Germany was made with Henry M. Koch, still living, and a Ritzville resident. Later the immigrant worked for the White River Lumber Co., shoveling coal to unload railroad cars. He next worked at a lumber yard at Ralston for a few years. He enlisted June 3, 1918, in Spokane and served as a private in the 42nd Company, 166th Depot brigade. He was discharged February 20, 1919. On Armistice day he was at a U. S. port, ready to ship out for service in the war in Europe. Returning from service he operated a grain elevator at Penewawa for a time. He moved from there to Marcellus to operate a lumber yard. At Marcellus he became interested with Henry Cordes in the operation of the Marcellus general store. In the same community he also operated a cooperative grain warehouse and elevator, the same one still in operation there. In 1920 he came to Ritzville to manage the Ritzville Warehouse Co., and continued in that job until his retirement from business in 1946. Donis took the occasion of his retirement to do extensive traveling. His trips included visits to South America and two complete round-the- world trips. An unusually well-read man, he kept learning all his life. In addition to German, English and Russian, which he spoke fluently, he mastered a working knowledge of several other languages which helped him in his travels. His home at 306 East Fourth avenue was a popular mecca for friends from not only this community, but from all over the nation. People of German background came to him for counsel which he gave freely and almost daily. Through the years he served for about 20 years as choir director of Zion Congregational church. Though he never joined any church, he gave generously to several local churches. Surviving are six cousins, Mrs. Emily Danekas of Ritzville, Mrs. Othelia Egbers of Spokane, Mrs. Hanna Sturgeon of Orofino, Ida., David Koch of Portland, Arthur B. Koch of Spokane and Ted Koch, last known to have lived at St. Petersburg, Fla. The Rev. Beryl Melcher will conduct the funeral services. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Heinemann, Dan Kembel, Lyman Haight, Robert Newland, Max Meyer, Ervin Ziemer, Roy Koch, Harry Arlt, Es Shelman, Frank Heimbigner, Fred C. Koch, Ted Wellsandt, Vic Rogel, L. E. Thiel, Jake Eckhardt, David Weber, George Freese, J. P. Koch, Leslie Schragg, David Hoefel, Charles Schwerin and Dr. George B. Fast. Milton Sackmann will sing, accompanied by Mrs. Orville Moeller. The body will be cremated and the ashes placed in Riverside mausoleum in Spokane. Marion Stafford Dies in Astoria Funeral services were held yesterday for Marion E. Stafford, a former Ritzville resident, at Astoria, Ore. Stafford was born September 24, 1903, in Spokane, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy C. Stafford, long-time Ralston area residents. He attended Ritzville high school and was employed in the men's clothing department of Meyer-Shepley, now Rummer's store, and the Ritzville Trading Co. The family has lived in Astoria for the past 17 years wehre he was engaged in the men's clothing business. Surviving are his wife Eunice, a son, Vernon Guy of Portland, and a brother, W. B. (Bill) Stafford of Portland. John Gobel Dies At Lind Tuesday John E. Gobel of Lind died Tuesday at the Adams County Memorial hospital. He was born in Minnesota May 14, 1890, and had been a resident of Lind the past 21 years. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Kimball of Minneapolis, Minn., and by two brothers, John Gobel of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and Frank Gobel of Minneapolis. At Lind he operated a service station. Cremation will be Saturday with interment of ashes at Acasia cemetery in Seattle. Danekas Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 23, 1967 Services Friday at Menno Church for Mrs. Franz Funeral services for Martha Gerig Franz will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Menno Mennonite church. A resident of Marlin for the past 25 years, Mrs. Franz succumbed Tuesday at 5:35 a.m., following a long illness. She was born February 17, 1912, at Salem, Ore. She married Herbert Franz on June 12, 1942. Surviving are her husband and eight children. The children are Sharon Franz Kroeker of Seattle, Janet Franz Epp of Seattle, Ronald Franz, Constance Franz, Thomas Franz, Virginia Franz, Richard Franz and James Franz, all of Marlin. Also surviving are a brother and eight sisters. They are David Gerig of Turner, Ore., Bertha Bell of Beaverton, Ore., Myrna Williams, Emma Gydesen, Goldia Garren and Sarah Ditchen of Salem, Katherine Blivens of Dallas, Ore., Miss Lena Gerig of Portland, Ore., and Dorothy Mercer, Glendale, Ariz. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts that will be designated to the Grace Bible Institute of Omaha, Nebr. The Rev. Harris Waltner will conduct the funeral. Burial will be in the Mennonite cemetery. Clarence Dahl Funeral Is Held HATTON - Funeral services were held Tuesdsay for Clarence A. Dahl in Spokane. The Rev. Frank Van Doren officiated. Interment was at Spokane Memorial gardens. He was the father of Mrs. Albert Strohmaier. Mr. Dahl died Saturday following a lengthy illness, and a serious kidney operation two weeks ago. He was a retired salesman for the Washington Water Power; a member of the Greenacres Christian church, and had been a resident in the Spokane Valley for 36 years. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, November 30, 1967 Funeral Services for Mary Grams Being Held Today Funeral services for Mary Grams will be at 2 o'clock today at the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home. She died Sunday at Adams County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for a week. Her health had been poor for some time. She was born May 25, 1896, in Russia, the daughter of Daniel Mann. She was a resident of the United States for 65 years. There are five daughters and one son who survive their mother. The daughters are Mrs. Robert McNutt, Benton City; Mrs. Herbert Gross, Ritzville; Miss Olive Grams, Spokane; Mrs. John Imler, Medical Lake; and Mrs. Gilbert Sharp, Anchorage, Alas. A son, Adolph Grams lives at Angwin, Calif. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kessler of Ritzville and Mrs. Margaret Warden of Portland, Ore.; and two brothers, William Mann of Spokane and Emil Mann of California. There are 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren surviving. Mrs. Grams was a member of Philadelphia Congregational church. The Rev. Ernest Sprenger will conduct the funeral service. Pallbearers were Richard Gross, Dave Grams, Bruce Wyborny, Robert Gross, Dennis McNutt and Dennis Hibdon. Burial will be in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. C. M. Hynes Collapses at His Home Clarence M. Hynes died very suddenly early Tuesday morning at his apartment home at Colwell's Motel. He had just completed a check of the motel's apartments shortly after midnight. He came into the Hynes home, neatly hung up his coat and collapsed. Mr. Hynes was 70 years of age. For more than 25 years he was desk clerk at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 o'clock at the Ball and Dodd Funeral home in Spokane with the Rev. Roy Blackstone conducting the service. Singer will be Phil Crosby. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Clarence M. Hynes was born September 9, 1897, at Prescott, Minn., the son of Frank and Josephine Hynes. He was married September 29, 1921, in Spokane. His wife, Mabel, survives him at the home here, as well as a daughter, Mrs. Jack Aaronson of Spokane and their son Kerry. Also surviving Clarence are three sisters and a brother. The sisters are Mrs. Pete Zgoda, Choteau, Mont., Mrs. Hazel Fleming, Spokane, and Mrs. Ollie Swanbeck, Spokane. Hayden Hynes of Genesee, Ida., is a brother. Mr. Hynes was a member of BOF lodge in Spokane and of the Chamber of Commerce here at Ritzville. Rites for Stanley Neace Tuesday Funeral services were held Tuesday in Colfax for Stanley Donovan Neace. He died at Colfax last Saturday. Born in Billings, Mont., 66 years ago, Neace farmed for many years in the Endicott and Winona areas of Whitman county. He was a member of IOOF lodge at Benge for more than 25 years, and also was a member of the Benge Grange. Surviving are his wife Blanch, at home near Winona; a son, Stanley V. Neace of Benge, and two daughters, Mrs. Loy (Helen) Hodgson, Deer Park, and Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Bennett, Oakville. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, December 7, 1967 Howard Harris Funeral Service Held at Connell Funeral services for Howard Woodson Harris were held Tuesday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Connell. Harris died at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane December 1, following an illness. He was 79 years of age. He was born May 20, 1888, and had been a resident of Connell for 49 years. He formerly owned the Connell telephone company, but had sold it and retired. His wife preceded him in death on July 28 of this year. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William Paslay of Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; and a son, Dorwin Harris of Connell. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Pearl Massie of Reno, Nev.; and a brother, J. L. Harris of Connell. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Howard Harris was a member of the F&AM lodge at Lind and of Margaret Wadsworth chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at Lind. He was a member of the Episcopal church. The Rev. John Dempsey, vicar of St. Mark's church, conducted the funeral service. Interment was at Mountain View cemetery at Connell. Pete Miller Funeral Set Friday Afternoon Funeral services for Pete Miller will be conducted Friday, December 8, at 2 p.m. from the Philadelphia Congregational church. Miller passed away Wednesday evening at Adams County Memorial hospital after suffering declining health during the past four years. He was born the son of Alexander and Anna Hartung Miller May 4, 1902, in Kolb, Russia. The family came to the United States in 1908 and settled at Tacoma. They moved to Ritzville in 1912 and farmed northwest of town. He spent most of his life on the family farm, taking over active management from his father in 1928. Pete Miller was united in marriage to Violet Miller of Lind June 22, 1930. He and his wife moved to Ritzville and semi-retired in 1954. Mrs. Miller survives at the home. Two children, John of Ritzville, and Marilyn (Mrs. Robert) McDowall of Deer Park, also survive. The Millers presented the deceased with four grandchildren - Jonna, Denise, Colleen and Michael, and the McDowalls have two children, Robert and Linda. Three sisters survive. They are Mrs. Anna Miller, Mrs. James (Mary) Webb and Mrs. Emma LaBelle, all of Ritzville. A brother, Henry Miller, survives at Sunnyside. Miller was a former Adams county commissioner and was prominently associated with other organizations in the community. He served five years on the draft board and earlier this year received his official retirement with a Presidential citation and pin. He was a member of Philadelphia Congregational church, Ritzvlle Lodge No. 101 F&AM, El Katif shrine, Eastern Star, IOOF Rebekahs, served as an original supervisor of the soil and water conservation district, and on the Adams County ASC committee. He was a member of the Ritzville Lions club. The Rev. Ernest Sprenger will officiate at the services Friday and burial will be in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers are to be Donald Miller, Alvin Miller, John Eckhardt, Bob Clark, Max Webb and Michael Wright. Danekas Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral Service Held for Larry R. Stanfield Larry Ross Stanfield was laid to rest here Tuesday morning. He died in an auto accident Saturday morning on his way home from studies and teaching at Washington State university. He was born January 5, 1944, at Colfax. Since he was a small boy he lived and grew up in Ritzville. Last February he received his bachelor of arts degree in speech at WSU. Since then he had been working on his master's degree. He was an assistant teacher in the speech department also. Larry had been doing work on his master's degree. Only last week he played a humorous role in a play presented two nights at the WSU campus. He was to have completed his master's degree requirements next June. Being a second lieutenant in the army reserve, and an active member of the ROTC at WSU, Larry expected to go into active duty status next June. At Ritzville high school Larry was active in sports and was president of the Red R club. In a bi-county declamation contest he won a superior rating for a humorous reading. He was a member of the Ritzville swim club. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Stanfield, and by two brothers at home, Bobbie and Craig. Surviving are two grandmothers, Mrs. Cecil Stanfield of Ritzville and Mrs. Ted Thompson of Garfield. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. Floyd Yokers conducted the funeral service at Emanuel Lutheran church. Gordon Swyter sang "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." The congregation of worshippers joined in singing "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," and "Children of the Heavenly Father." Mrs. Orville Moeller was the organist. Pallbearers were Bryon Wagner, Rick Hanson, Terry Olson, Dennis Kembel, John Wellsandt and Dennis McLain. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Tempero, Rich Niemi, Dusty VanVleet, Bill Davis, Kirk Danekas, Ken Kiehn, Andy Christoff, Ron Danekas, Tom Thomas, Steve Taylor, Robbie Moore, Kent Smith, Mike Leisle, Jim Thomas, Bill Anderson, Mitch Allert and Dale Galbreath. Burial was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, December 14, 1967 George Miller Rites Monday Funeral services for George Miller were held at the Community church in Sprague Monday. He died at the Masonic home in Kent last Thursday. Miller was one of the oldest living Masons in Washington, being 92 years of age. He had been a member of Sprague chapter, F&AM, for 67 years, and was also a member of Henrietta chapter, Order of Eastern Star. He was a former resident of Harrington. Surviving are two brothers, Fred and Charles, both of Amber. There are several nieces and nephews surviving. The Rev. Francis Klontz conducted the funeral service. Stehr Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Assembly of God church here for Katherine K. Stehr. She died December 13 at Spokane. Born January 6, 1891, at Paris, Bessarabia, to Ferdinand Kosanke and Maria Salo Kosanke, she came to Kulm, N. Dak., when about a year old. Her father was the physician and minister of the area. Katherine was married to John F. Stehr March 1, 1907. Two children were born at a homestead near Kulm, Luella Violet and Edith. In 1912 the Stehr family moved to a farm 15 miles west of Ritzville and 15 miles south of Odessa. In 1919 they moved to Ritzville where another daughter, LaMartha, was born. Converted as a small child to the Evangelical church, she had a strong interest in missions. She attended the Mennonite church while living on the farm and Philadelphia Congregational church while living in Ritzville. In 1935 when the Assembly of God church was built here she was one of the charter members. A farm implement accident caused her much physical pain. The past year she spent in Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane and at Sharon Arms convalescent home there. A month ago she contracted pneumonia and was recovering from that when on December 12 she caught the flu. Two daughters survive, Luella Eylander of Ritzville and LeMartha Thorp of Port Angeles. There are three grandchildren, Richard Eylander and Vaughn and Tanya Thorp. Also surviving are two brothers, Sam Kosanke of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Reinhold Kosanke of Ritzville. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 12, 1966; by a daughter Edith, a sister Martha and three brothers, John F., Dave and Simon Kosanke. The Rev. Gordon Welk conducted the funeral service. Milton Sackmann sang "Saved By Grace," "When We See Christ" and "The Lord's Prayer." Organ accompanist was Mrs. Orville Moeller. Pallbearers were Leslie Schragg, Alvie Schragg, Ralph Gering, Joe Gering, Dan Kembel and John Selcho. Honorary pallbearers were Jno. C. Jantz, Frank Dyck, David Hoefel, Dr. Lloyd Haight, Frank Marshall, Henry Gering, William Rosenoff and John Ott. Burial was in Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Willard Weibe, Former Pastor, Taken by Disease The Rev. Willard Weibe died last Friday from a very rare disease. He was pastor of Salem Mennonite church at Freeman, S. Dak., and had been pastor of Menno Mennonite church here from 1947 to 1955. He was about 50 years of age. The Rev. Mr. Weibe became ill in November and entered the hospital the week before Thanksgiving. He had begun to rally by Sunday, December 10, but by midweek he lost ground and succumbed in two more days. During the pastorate here he left for a year, in 1950 and 1951, to attend school He went from Ritzville to Mountain Lake, Minn., where he was pastor of the First Mennonite church. Since 1964 he has been at Freeman. The Rev. Mr. Weibe was very active in denomination, being chairman of the board of missions of the church's general conference. Suviving him are his wife, Lola and four children, Ruth, John, Mary and Lois. Kate Kalkwarf Funeral Held Here Monday Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Zion Congregational church for Kate Kalkwarf. She had been a patient at Adams County Memorial hospital four days when she died Friday of last week. Kate Baumgart was born May 29, 1888, in Nebraska. She had been a resident of Adams county for 62 years. A daughter, Mrs. Carl (Frances) Hutter of Oak Brook, Ill, survives. There are three sisters who survive, Mrs. Brandt Kingel and Miss Elsa Baumgart, Spokane, and Mrs. Minnie Meyerhoff, Billings, Mont. Three grandchildren survive. Mrs. Kalkwarf's husband, Henry E. E. Kalkwarf, died May 11, 1964. Mrs. Kalkwarf was a member of Zion Congregational church, the Rebekah lodge, the past noble grand club of the Rebekah lodge and the Adams county Republican Women's club. The Rev. Beryl Melcher conducted the funeral service. Mrs. Lillian Miller and Mrs. Alma Schafer sang "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," and "In The Garden." Organist was Lexie Ann Danekas. Pallbearers were W. Walters Miller, A. R. Hanson, Clint Rowe, Ralph Kissler, Walter Schoessler and Fred McDougall. Honorary pallbearers were E. R. Norris, Ralph Gillis, Allen Scott, Walter Allert, James Clinesmith and Charles Clinesmith. Burial was at the Lind cemetery. The Kalkwarfs operated the Benge store and elevator for a number of years. Ritzville Journal-Times, Thursday, December 28, 1967 Henry Amen Rites Held On Wednesday Funeral services for Henry Amen were held from the chapel of the Danekas Funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. Amen passed away at his home in Ritzville December 21. He was born January 21, 1882, in Hastings, Nebr., and came to Adams county at the age of five. He was a life-long farmer and retired to Ritzville about 24 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Emma at the home, and two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Verna) Arlt and Mrs Jess (Geneva) Graber. Amen leaves six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The Rev. Alfred E. Olsen of Naselle officiated at the services. Pallbearers included Vernon Luiten, Everett Kiehn, Jim Burghard, Herbert Burghard, Donald Kiehn and Donald Baumann. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Seim, William Werttemberger, Alex Werner, Richard Miessner, Carl Arlt, Albert Schmidt and William Arlt. Interment was at Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Eli Duncan Rites Held on Wednesday Eli Duncan, former Ritzville mortician, passed away at his home at Freeland on Whidbey Island and funeral services were held yesterday from the Hedgecock's Funeral home. Duncan, with his wife Beatrice, came to Ritzville in 1947 and leased the Haight Funeral home. He operated this until 1949 as the Duncan- Haight Funeral home when he joined Ralph Danekas in operating Danekas and Duncan Funeral home. Duncan retired in 1959 and moved to Freeland. His wife survives him at the home. Mrs. Lemman Is Buried Here Interment services were held at Ritzville Memorial cemetery Thursday, December 21, for Mrs. Gertrude Lemman, who died at the Emmett, Ida., nursing home December 18. The Rev. Donald Cramer officiated with Danekas Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lemman came to Ritzville in 1886 after having been born in Hamele, Mo., May 13, 1879. Dr. Lemman predeceased his wife in 1948. Mrs. Lemman moved to Spokane in 1949 and has spent the last eight years at Emmett where she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles E. (Violet) Zemp. A sister, Mrs. Grace Lacey, survives at Hayden Lake, Ida. there are two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
