Josiah Goch- nour had been suffering from stomach trouble for several weeks, but was able to be about his home until the evening of the 27th, when he was stricken with paralysis. The deceased was a son of Daniel and Katharine Amsbaugh Gochnour and was born February 6, 1826, interred Headrick's Cemetery above Cone- maugh. He was one of a family of ten children two girls and eight boys. Lucinda Gouchnour, aged six months died in September 1839, and her re- mains were the first to be interred in Headrick's Cemetery. The other sis- ter is Mrs. I. C. Bole, of East Taylor Township. Four brothers--Adam, Ephraim, Clinton, and Stephen Goch- nour--are dead, and the surviving bro- thers are William, of Conemaugh, who is in his 84th year, Hiram of East Tay- lor Township, and Benjamin Gochnour of the South Side, who is an Elder of the First Progressive Brethren Church, Somerset street. Josiah Gochnour was a carpenter by trade and was employed for a long time at the Wood Morrell & Co. place at Mineral Point before going West in the fall of 1872. He settled in Black Hawk County, Iowa, going from there in a prairie schooner to Little River, Kan. His wife Mrs. Barbara Dimond Gochnour, was also a native of East Taylor Township and died at little Riv- er about 1896 or 1897. Some time after her death he went to the State of Washington where he had since made his home. Besides his sister and bro- thers, Mr. Gochnour is survived by four daughters, three sons, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
