According to Geraldine F. Gilman (The Columbian April 9, 1981) "there are a number of unmarked graves at the south of the cemetery that are of the earliest settlers and some were Hudson's Bay men. This is likely because there was an early (circa 1830s) Hudson's Bay village at about what is now the intersection of Fisher Road (SE 164th Ave) and East Mill Plain Road."
