High McMaster was a business visitor in Portland Wednesday. Dr.Hatfield and wife returned Wednesday from a few days stay in Stevenson. Arthur Frey moved this week to Vancouver where he will be employed in the barber shop of D.A. Sanderson. I have for sale a corner lot, one block from the business section, and a good three room house for $625. The lot alone is worth the price- Klley Loe J.A.Kilkenny, an electrician, of Portland, was canvassing the town this week to ascertain the numberof lights and amount of power that will be required by the people of Camas should an electric plant eb installed here. O.C.Nelson, formerly publisher of the Sentinel at Goldendale in Klickitat County, will begin the publication of a new paper at that place about January 1s. The new sheet will be known as te Independent. Rev.E.H.Todd, D.D. Corresponding Secretary of the University of Puget Sound at Tacoma will preach in the M.E. Church Sunday morning Dec.13 at 11 o'clock. Harry Parker, an experiences telephone man, of Vancouver, has bought the holdings of the LaCamas Telephone Co. The sale was made by Kelley loe. Mr.Parker will take charge about the first of the year. He will reconstruct the system and greatly extend it , and will give a twenty four hour service, seven days a week. In a few months this city can boast of as good a telephone system as there is in any town of thsi size on the coast. Mrs. Simmons made a business trip to Portland Manday. Mrs. Ramon Blair is here visiting her sister, Mrs.O.C.Highes. Mrs.Charles Litz and daughter Ida, were visitors in Portland Saturday. Miss trennor, of the MacMaster store sore was a Portland visitor the first of the week. A. McDowell has employed Mr.Germaine, recently of Cleveland,Ohio, to assist him in the barber shop. Miss Campling has given up her position as teacher of the First Grade, and returned to her home at St.John's. Miss Stebbins has taken charge of the school. F.W.Leadbetter, of Portland, Mr. Leuthwaite of Oregon City, and Mr. Schwabacher, of San Fransisco were here Thursday looking after their interests here in the Paper Mill. Hart Bros. is putting up a new building on Fourth street, east of the Litz livery barn, and will open a meat marke. J.P.Kiggins,republican, defeated R.D. Wiswall, democrat for mayor of Vancouver, at the election in that city Tuesday. His majority was 43 out of a total of 891. Councilmen elected were J.C.Huston, Wm. DuBois,Wm. Tenney, c.P. McCarty, City Clerk, F.W. Bier; City Attorney, P.J. Kerwin; Treasurer, G.W. Daniels.
