A. Templeson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Vancouver, will assist the local pastor of the Presbyterian Church in the special service to be held in St.John's Presbyterian church of this city the first two weeks of February. Robert Mitchell is indignant because of the loss of his Irish setter dog, which died after ten days of torture, caused by particles of glass given to it in food of some description. The dog was a great pet of Mr. Mitchell's children, and was the second so tortured to death in this city during the last few weeks. Jesse Frye has sold all his fishing gear to Bennett & Gunnier, who are planning on the establishment of an existing fishing industry at this point. It is their intention to supply Camas, Washougal, and contingous territory and ship the remainder of their catch to dealers in Portland. Charles Marchbank, who contemplates a trip to California, has been at the home og Gay Bybee for a few days, and his friends say that he is rapidly rounding into shape for a through trip over the Walloby route. Bob Brashear's new house, in process of construction by Contractor Wittmeyer and A.e. Beagle, is nearing completion and the plastering was begun Tuesday. One of Aldred Locke's brothers who is in the British Army has been decorated for bravery on the field of battle in France, and has been given a commission as well. Some of Clarence Strahl's companions are authority for the statement that he has filed an application for membership in the Order of Benedicts. Manager Woolson of the Opera House spent Tuesday in Portland making arrangements for new attractions. Rev. Hollensted, former pastor of the Presbyterian Church here, who has been very ill, is able to take up his church work again.
