W.E.Grimes, the lumberman, has leased the Pickett place, adjoining the Dole property, on the Heights. Manager Woolson of the Opera House spent Friday in Portland looking for new attractions in the moving picture line. Last Saturday was Bertram O'Brien,s twenty second birthday, and it was quietly celebrated with a holiday spent in Portland. P.W. Jacoby and family, who vacated their property on the Heights a few months ago, moved back to their own home on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. G.R.Cooper who has been living in one of the McIsaacs houses near the school buildings, have moved to one of the Davis houses in Forest Home. Mr. Button, who came from Hood River recently to join the force at the Camas Mercantile Co.'s store, has returned to Hood River with his family. They left Wednesday. Rev. Horace Williston has been confined to his bed for a couple of days owing to the severity of the exercise he had while assisting at he excavation of the church basement. Mr. and Mrs. A.W.Scott of Prune Hill left Saturday evening for Portland, en route to San Diego,Cal. where they will spend the remainder of the winter and part of the spring. Robert Stoller has secured the agency for the Dodge automobile and will begin demonstrating on the 1st of the month or as soon thereafter as he receives one or more of the machines. A very enjoyable time was had Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Johnson on Maxon street, where a number of friends gathered to pass the time with an old fashioned taffy pull. All joined in the fun, and afterward games were played and a delicious luncheon was served.Before departing all present gathered around the piano and joined in singing the old time songs. Rev.A.L.Hutchinons D.D.,Portland, will preach at the Presbyterian church Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 3,4, and 5, but there will be services every afternoon and evening this wek at 3 and 7:45 o'clock. Good music and something to shout about. Everyone will be welcome. A.E.Jones, who conducted a barber shop in the basement of the Urie building last winter, is now canvassing in Oregon and Washington for three magazines. He visited this city Tuesday. H.McMaster went to Portland on Wednesday to attend the Oregon Hardware Men's Convention. W.Swank also attended the convention, so that this part of the county was well represented. A.R.Price, who has been out of town since the beginning of the week, is not expected back until Sunday or Monday.He was called upon by the underwriters to adjust fire losses in Springfield and Baker, Oregon.
