Ex-Mayor Duvall, who has been on the sick list for several days is convalescent, and is now able to be out, although still showing the effects ofhis illness. Mrs.W.F.Collard, who has been visiting in Seattle, has returned , and her mother,Mrs.Brown, accompained her here for a visit of extended duration. Bert Grindle,formerly proprietor of the barber shop now owned by O.S.Piper, came over to the city Sunday.He left Tuesdsay morning for his home at Banks,Ore. Jeweler Williams, who had partially concluded arrangements to lease the jewelry department of the W.D. Strahl establishment here, returned to Portland Tuesday morning. At the hearing o fthe bankruptcy proceedings in the matter of S.K.Markman,a bankrupt, in Vancouver on Tuesday,Attorney Currie of this city represented a number f the largest creditors. Bob Fuller was badlt brusied a few days ago by having his sweater caught between the callendars of the machine at which he was employed. Fortunately the sweater was caught near the shoulder, and the injuries were confined to a great bruise that extended from the shoulder to the hip. Don Rick of Prune Hill has fitted up a billiard room at his home and spends some pleasant hours with his parents and many young friends after the days work is done. The room is cozy and adds another attraction to a very happy home. What is understood to be the first well boring machinery that ever came to this part of the county arrived here Monday.It is for Jack Carrick, who will be operating it in this vicinty in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Wm.Dingo, who came here from Eastern Oregon last fall, and have been stopping at the Barnett place at Woodburn, left for Wasco Wednesday evening, and intend making their permanent home there.
