Ben Anderson and family, Charley Brothers and family spent part of last week in Yacolt. Op.Culbertson and Ed. Hough returned from their prospecting trip last Thursday. They were not much excited about it. Four companies of infantry passed through here last Wednesday morning on their way to American Lake. They camped near Woodland where one of their number was drowned while swimming. His body was taken to Vancouver on Thursday for burial. Last Wednesday John Fleming and Joe Brothers took a trip to Manor,Orchards and Vancouver on business and found some people talking about a farmers telephone line to come through this part of the country. It is a cheap acommodation and one that we want and ought to have, as 25 cents for a three minute talk is rather steep and instead of $18 a year it would cost about $5. So let us get busy and see if we can have the improvement soon, it is needed.
