He was attempting to board the car on the front platform,but in some way was thrown in front of it.His back was seriously hurt. His father came from his bedside Wednesday evening and reports that he is recovering satisfactorily. Fire destroyed Wm. Laws dwelling in the east part of town Thursday night. The origin of the fire is a mystery,as there was no one home at the time. The flames had gained great headway before discovered and the fire department responded prmptly,reached the house with the chemical engine too late to save it. Everything in the house was burned. Mr.Laws lost all of his clothing and personal effects. Among the articles burned was a baseball suit,bats,mask and gloves. Mrs. Al Lee of Fishers spent Thursay in LaCamas. George Pickett has moved to a farm near The Dalles. Mrs. Dr.Smith and Mrs. Albert Pierce of Washougal were shopping in LaCamas this wek. Miss nellie Beebe has decided to remain another year in the public school as assistant principal. Jack kelley,formerly a barber here, visited old friends in this week. he is now employed ina shop at Kelso. Mrs. W.H.Reed and little son Emro,of Portland,visited Mrs. Reed's parents,Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walace this week. As soon as McDowell & Frey vacate their premises,the Munyan Bakery will occupy that building. A new oven will be built. S.G.Hadley returned the first of the week from a visit to Portland.He is engaging in the real estate business here. And will move to this city in s ahort time. Mr.C.M.Keep sr. and Mr. Dibble of the frim Nagel & Dibble of Washougal were in town this week on different days to get express that had been shipped to the local office. Prof. and Mrs.barnes and miss Camping made a trip to The Dalles Saturday. Mrs.Kate Yettick of Portland visited her parents,Mr. and Mrs.James Farrell,Thursday. "Pa" Fishburn,formerly proprietor of the Mountain House at this place,but now of Elsewhere and Everywhere,was in LaCamas Monday renewing acquaintances. Geo.Self left Thursday evening to take a position with the Modern Confectionary Co., as traveling salesman.he will have the same territory that he traveled for Bishop & Co. A case of diptheria was reported in a family near the shcoolhouse the latter part of last week. The family had just arrived from the East,and it is thought that no one has been exposed.A great many have been frightened into keeping their children from school owing to the case mentiones being so close to the school house. The qaurantine will be raised in a few days,and it is expected that school attendance next week. Mrs. Albert Davis and daughter spent Sunday in the metropolis. Captain Hobson,of Merrimac fame, spoke at Portland last evening on the need of a greater Navy. Clifton Huer,F.J. Hagel's fine stallion will make the season of 1908 at Mr. Hagel's farm,two miles west of Camas. Mrs. George Pickett of Haines,Oregon is visiting here. Rufus Blair made a trip to White Salmon Monday,returning the same day. H.J. Langoe,editor of the Pacific Skandinaven,of Portland was in Washougal and LaCamas Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Munyan and niece,Miss May Munyan,spent a few days at the St.Martin springs thsi week. F.B.Barnes of this place has become a partner in the Washougal Dairy & Land co. Mr.Barnes will not leave LaCamas,but will maintain his office here and will work in conection with the Washougal Co. Wednesday evening the Christian Endeavor of the Presbyterian church organized an athlete club.The officers are Chas. Duffin,President; Inez Champlin,secretary; Agne Beardsley,treasurer. The games proposed are tennis, basket ball and croquet.
