Kellum became violently ill, and did not recover for several hours. The children, who did not care for chicken and did not partake of it, were not ill, and Mr. and Mrs. Kellum were forced to the conclusion that the cause of the illness was the fowl. The bird was bought from a farmer, and had been killed but not drawn, on Friday evening. What was left after dinner was given to the dog and he became sick soon afterward having violent nausea, one of the indications of ptomaine poisoning.
