S.G.Thayer has opened a blacksmith shop on Burton street,where he is prepared to do all kinds of blacksmithing. Louis Hill,president of the Great Northern,and a son of James J.J.Hill will be in Portland tomorrow,and on Monday or Tuesday will make a trip over the North bank. Dr.Wtight and Dr. Barkman went to Vancouver Thursday evening to attend the monthly meeting of the county Medical Society. Miss Gracie Ingram of Oregon City,is visiting with her brother,E.S.Ingrama nd family. Clifton Reed returned Sunday from an extended visit with friends and relatives in Oreogn City. Mr. and Mrs. H.Trenner have moved from Portland to Lacamas,occupying a part fo the Crawford residence on Third street. The room for Mr.Farrell's stock of millinery goods is completed and is one of the best arranged ot be found.She will hold her spring opening next Tuesday. J.B.Erickson Tuesday filed action in the superior court to compel the Pittock and Leadbetter Lumber Company to pay him for driving logs according to the alleged terms of an agreemnet entered into.Erickson,according to the complaint,drove logs belonging to the lumber ocmpan into the comapny's booms at 65 cents per 1,000. He claims the company refuses to settle. Manager Cummings when served with the papersin the case stated that he had bot time to figure up the amount due to Erickson that being the reason the bill had not been paid. The work of raisin g the MaMaster &Co. store is under way this week.The fill made in the third street by the railroad placed the store much below the street.It will be raised about four feet and one half,and its appearance will be much improved. Frank William wewnt to Kalama the erly part of the week. Misses Bertha and Emily Webber of Washougal were in LaCamas Saturday buying their Easter suits. George Self has accepted a psoition with the Modern Confectionary Co.,as traveling salesman,and will go on the road about the first of May.Mr.Self formerly traveled fro Bishop & Co.,and was one of the best sales men on the oad.He has not disposed of his ????here. Sam Cheetham has returned to his work here,his wife who si s ick at Washougal being much better. Mrs.H.L.Muir,who has been with the Post since it was established,has taken a position with W.Swank &Co. as book keeper. S.G.Hadley is erecting a building on East Fourth Street which eh will move into soon.It will only be a temporary home to be used until he can build agood residence.Mr.Hadley will probably be engaged in business here. Harry Farre,who has been attending college in Portland,came up Tuesday for the summer. A fire occurred in the Gavin house on Thurd street,Saturday.The chemical was brought out,but the fire was already under control.
