W.E.Houp and wife left Thursday for Los Angeles,California,where they will make their home on a farm that Mrs. Houps' mother ,Mrs.Olds,has recently bought.Mr.Houp came here last afll on his road to Dawson to see his brother,but found him here engaged in matrimony. We are sorry to lose Mr.Houp who was an industrious man and has made many friends here. McDowell and Frey have moved into their new building. MaMaster and Co.,W.Swank and Co., and C.E.Farrell will close their stores todaya t 12 o'clock this being Decoration Day. Geo.Pickett who moved to The Dalles a few weeks ago,has returned to LaCamas. Master Lloyd Conn,who has been suffering with a broken arm,is improving. Chas. Woolridge is in a Vancouver hospital where he underwent an operation for appendicitis a few days ago.It is reported that he is rapidly recovering. Miss Anna Palmer went to a Vancouver hospital this week for treatment for blood poisoning which resulte from a slight scratch on her hand.She is recovering. At the last meeting of Wide West lodge I.O.O.F. the following officers were elected: Tom Beaune,nobel grand; J.A.Snyder,vice grand ; D.T.VanCamp,recording officer. A bar tender at House's saloon,Vancouver, wa skilled yesterday afternoon by a negro,who it is reported used a razor. No particulars have been recieved,but a report last night said lynching was strongly talked of. Mrs.Geo.Goddard of Vancouver is visiting her daughter,Miss Laura who is one of the teachers in the public school.
