Vancouver is considering taking one of Andrew Carnegie's elephants. Mrs.Albert Davis and son, Charles have just returned from Wsiconsin,where they have been visiting friends and relatives. A drunk was fined $10 Monday by Judge Self.He paid the fine. It is reported that A.D.Wright will build a new hotel where the Camas house now stands. Wm.Sheehan,superintendant for the Crown-Columbia Company,has been wrestling with the grip. Wm. Plett of Portland sued out an attachment in the local Justice Court for the waged of Chris Volner. Plett alleges that Volner owed him a board bill of $42.25. L.A.Terry has a young Percheron stallon that will not be three years old until next May yet he weighs now 1700 pounds.When he has reached maturity he will weigh 2000 pounds. When is well built and has a good carriage,and should be in another year a valuable animal. Walter Durham has been added to the McMaster force of clerks. This store now employs ten people regularly. Mrs.H.McMaster spent a few days visiting in Portland for the first of the week. W.C.Warren went to Portland and Vancouver Monday and remained at the latter ciyt over the night to visit the K.of P.Lodge at hat place. W.Swank and Co., are now well settled in their new store in the Odd Fellow building,and invite the public to give them a trial.They have a complete line of dry goods,groceries,shoes,furniture,hardware and other lines. C.W.Buhman has just moved into town from the country,and is occupying one of the finest houses on the hill. He began building last fall but only recently completed his house. W.j.Edmonds came near having a serious fire at his house a few days ago,the roof being in a blaze in a number of places before it was discovered.He succeeded in putting it out however,and went to the home of a naighbor,Len Bartley,to get the shingles to repair the roof,and when he arrived there he found Mr.Bartley putting out a blaze on the roof of his own house.
