Tom Johnson,who was stationed at Parkers for several months in th eemploy of P.Burns&Co.,came down from The Dalles Sunday for a short visit. Ed Walker returned the first of the week from a visit to relatives at Lebanon,Oregon.He orders the Post sent to his brother at the above address. C.C.Fleet of the Fleet&Co. store at Vancouver was in town the first of the week. A leap year party will be given at the home of Chas. Fernley,February 24. J.T.Self has sent in his resignation as Justice of the Peace,as the county refuses to pay for the use of a room in which to hold court.Mr.Self has been conducting court in the council room and the rent in this case amounts to nearly as much as his fes. Glen Ranck of Vancouver,one of Clarke County's representatives in the lower house was here the first of the week on his way to Washougal to attend the meeting of the Pomona grange.Mr.Ranck is making no announcement of his intentions,but it is generally understood that he will be a candidate for some office subject to the decision of the primary election.It is said he may make the race for state senator to succeed E.M.Rands Robert Stoller and J.Awan,two LaCmas pominents,honored Portland with a visit Monday. Rufus Blair is thanking his lucky stars that he did not go to Siletz,Oregon this week,as he intended.If he had gone he woud have been a passenger on the train that was wrecked near Forest Grove. Mrs.William Shehan is sick. Mr. and Mrs. Butler,Mr. and Mrs. John Karnath and Mrs.Litz drove out Thursday tocall on V.Z.Barthelemy,who is very ill. A valenitne party was given by Dr.Wright at her home last evening. Miss Grace Collard,of Fishers,worked for the Post this week.
