All rights reserved. http://www.usgenweb.org/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/wa/wafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com June 8, 2008, 2:18 pm LaCamas Post May 23, 1908 Claiming that they were not allowed to complete a profitable contract,Pearl Gibbons and James A.Gibbons have sued Paul Merching in the Superior Court for $145.As a basis for the action,the Gibbons people allege thatin November of last year they were given the contract by Merching to cut the timber on 160 acres of land in sections 9 and 16,township one north,range 4 east consisting of piling and cord wood,and that the amount calimed would have been a reasonable profit on teh work.After the contrat was mae it is claimed that Merching changed his mind as to the timber and refused to allow it to be cut under the contract. C.G.Carleton has field a petition in the Superior Court asking for the praobating of the estate of Cynthis carleton and the naming of himeslf as adminstrator.The estate consists mainly of 120 acres of land near Washougal;valued at $4800.There are a number of heirs to the estate,the majority of whom reside at or near Washougal.Mrs.Carleton died a little more tan a month ago. The thanks of the fans are due John Ough,who made it possible for Washougal to have a ball park. Joseph Zitzelberger has commenced action in the superior court against W.E.Gannon to recover damages alleged to have been the result of the failure of Gannon to live up to a contract which he entered into.The plaintiff sets forth that on December 30,1907,he entered into an agreement with Gannon to construct a barn at and agreed price of $600.After he had much of the lumberon the gound Gannon decided not to build the barn and so informed Zitzelberger.Damages of $150 and costs are asked. Prof.Stuckart of the Ellsworth school,has been employed as principal of the Washougal school for the coming year.Prof.Fisher will be principal of the Troutdale school at a salary of $90 per month.
