Mr.Lechner is one of the rising young men of hte state and will make good in any place he may choose. His many friends here are glad to hear of his progress, but those who know him best expect greater things yet. Dan Hough is building a house on Second street near the Wright clothing store which will be used for a barber shop. Geo. Wright has his clothing store open to the public, and is filling a long felt need in Washougal. Jake Gibbons,a rancher of the Shanghai county, was in Kelso yesterday for the first time in about a year and noted the great amount of building and other improvements that have been carried forward since he was here. Mr.Gibbons does not look much like a "rancher" and admitted with a smile, when pressed that he was only nominally a hayseed as he had purchased the Adams property in that neighborhood and only occupied a two acre tract as a home for recreation, and to enjoy the pleasures of rural existence while the remainder of the farm is rented to tenants.- Kelso Journal. Carl Carpenter,a former Wasgougal boy who is now living at Pullman will visit his parents here next month. Leona Surber of this place is working hard to win in the Post Seashore Trip Contest. her pospects for spending two weeks at Seaside at the expense of The Post are good. Washougal usually does not take a back seat for any place. James and Perce Hill are at Harvard,Idaho working in th emines. They expect to spend the summer there.
