Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strom of Norway passed through here Thursday on their way east of the mountains.Just where they will settle is not decided,but quite probably on a wheat farm. Mrs. K.Kaser,who has been quite sick for the past week,was taken to a Portlasnd hospital Tuesday morning. Mrs.Geo.Smith has gone to Portland to spend the wek with relatives. Earl Morgan,who is attending college in Portland spent Sunday with the home folks. Geo.Wright's new store building is now well under way.And before long we will have a clothing store in our town. At last reports,Mrs. Stelter was very low.Her husband is now with her.Since leaving the hospital she has been at the home of her uncle,A.D.Wright in Vancouver. Edd Walker has had the Sheriff attach and move his goods from the Walling residence to Short's storeroom. Just what the out come will be is not yet known. Rev.Snyder had an exciting experience Wednesday. He rowed across the to the island,and in coming back was caught by the wind and the current and carrie swiftly down the stream. He was unable to get out until after he was belwo Ladys' Island.He then pulled into the slough and went up to LaCaams,arriving there exactly five hours of pollnig. There he waited until Jessie Hawkins came and had his boat towed to Parkers. Joe Schlitt has sold his fine farm near town to a Mr. Brock of White Salmon.Consideration $5,000. Mr. Schlitt will go to Frisco for a time, but has not decided where he will locate permanently. The Henriksen store has recently been moved into the center of town- by the town building to them. J.A.Hart of this place is publishing a volume of poems,the manuscript now being in the hands of the printer. It will be issued about the middle of May. Many poems have local color,and should be intereesting to everyonein this section. Articles of incorporation of the Columbia Condensed Milk Company have been filed with the County Auditor. The principal place fo business of the corporstion wil be at Washougal and the capital stock is $25,000,in shares of the par value of $50 each. The corporate trustees are Albert Good, H.H.Carpenter and Morris Webber,all of Washougal. Miss Stella Caples has been employed to teach next year in public schools at Chewelah,Stevens County. Lew Allyn has brought suit in the Superior Court against the Washougal River Improvement & Log Driving company,and George McCoy,as receiver,to recover $195.15 and $25 costs,the former amount he alleges being due for labor performed.According to the complaint,Allyn went to work for the log driving firm on April 1,1907,continuing until August 1 of the same year.No part of his salary has been paid.
