Another petition has been presented to the commissioners asking that the 
citizens of Washougal be permitted to vote on incorporation.The hearing will 
be had October 9.This town has been trying to become a municipality for two 
and a half years,in all perhaps a half dozen attempts have been made,but each 
time it was defeated-some times too much local oppostion and oftener on 
tehnical grounds,but at last it seems the matter will come to a vote. There is 
but little doubt that the proposition will carry,but there will be a warm 
contest ove rthe election of officials. So far A.O.Hathaway,L.F.Russell, and 
Dr.R.L. Smith have been mentioned for mayor. For councilamn the follwogin 
names were mentioned: D.L.Russell, T.S.Keep,George Henricksen,J.A.Hart,James 
Short,R.Surber,F.Braun,Eggert Nagel, D.W. 
Wright,L.F.Russell,D.W.Hutchinson,T.L.Gray,Wm. Rich,H.H.carpenter,Sid 
Jones,L.P.Hosford, and G.F.Smith. There will be five councilmen to be elected.
