He learned the baking business here and served through the war as chief baker with a rank of first sergeant of the 330 Bakery company overseas.Later he was official currier between Washington,D.C. and Germany. After receiving his discharge he had returned home where he died three weeks later. He is survived by his mother,and two sisters,Hazel marquette and Miss Gladys Cheney, and three brothers,Gerald G.Cheney,Harold V.Cheney, and Floyd Cheney.
