His companion says that the lad walked out on a board across the ditch to get a ball that had fallen in.As soon as it was discovered that he had afllen in,the alarm was given and Rev.Carrick, who was first to reach the scene, ran down to the ditch, but got no sight of the boy until he reached the forebay where the water of the ditch is discharged into the pipes. The gates were hastily closed, and the boy taken out,but all efforts to resuscitate him failed. Bruises on his head and back indicate that he had been thrown against rocks in the ditch by the swift current, and it is probable that he would have escaped had he not been unconcsious by these blows. The funeral will be held today at ten o'clock from the Presbytian church. The pall bearers will be chosen from his school mates.Burial will be in the Camas cemetery.
