Mr.Nichols as born in Crwafordsville,Ind.,October 11,1834. In 1865 he was married to Miss Mary Mikels. mrs.Nichols died in 1876,and the following year Mr.Nichols was married to Miss Martha J.Dixon,the couple coming to Oregon and settling at Coos bay. Later the family lived at Clatskanie,again moving to Washougal,Wash., in 1895,where his death occurred. Mr.Nichols leaves a wife, a sister,Mrs.Emily Mikels,of Shackelford.Mo., and the following children; Mrs.J.E. Van and Mrs.U.D.Kelly,of Clatskanie..Mrs.U.D.Bryant,Charles Nichols and Jessie Nichols,of Portland; Harry,Nichols and George Nichols,of Washougal.
