H. Leach, had its beginning in 1887, in a small room in the basement of the Central School. Its first graduating class consisted of nine students. The principals who have headed Vancouver High School from the first were: Mr. C. G. Mathews (1894-1895), Mr. H. W. Arnold (1895-1899), Mr. P Hough (1899-1908), and Mr. DeGaris Reeves, the present principal, who succeeded Mr. Hough in 1908. In 1905, after seventeen years at Central, because of the increase in attendance, the High School was transferred to the Franklin School building, where it remained, constantly enlaring in number, until 1912, when the present building was erected (1912-1956). This school no longer exists (2002).
