J. Clarke Publishing Company DR. ADOLPH C. GRABBERT, of Kelso, is regarded as one of Cowlitz county's leading dentists and commands a large and remunerative practice, due to his technical ability and his excellent personal qualities. The Doctor was born at Hartford, Minnehaha county, South Dakota, on the 25th of February, 1891, and is a son of Henry and Minnie (Cords) Grabbert, both of whom were born in Hamburg, Germany. The father was reared and educated in that land, served a regular term in the German army and about 1875 came to the United States. Settling in South Dakota, he engaged in farming, which he followed to the time of his death, in 1898. The mother subsequently went to California, where she died in 1925 and was buried in Seattle, Washington. Adolph C. Grabbert attended the public schools of Hartford, South Dakota, and pursued his professional studies in the North Pacific Dental College, at Portland, from which he was graduated with the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1915. He entered upon the practice of dentistry in Seattle, in which he was engaged until called into military service. He had previously enlisted for the army, but was rejected because of a minor physical defect. Later he was drafted, passed the physical examination and went into training at Camp Lewis. He served as a private in the depot brigade until the close of the war and was honorably discharged in November, 1918. About four years ago Dr. Grabbert opened a dental office in Kelso, where he has practiced to the present time. He is a careful, painstaking and conscientious operator and all who have employed his services praise his work. He has a nicely furnished and well equipped office and is courteous and kindly in manner towards all who come to him. On August 20, 1921, in Olympia, Washington, Dr. Grabbert was united in marriage to Miss Mae Wintermute, who was born in Puyallup, near Tacoma, Washington, May 16, 1894, and is a daughter of Elias and Delilah Wintermute. Her father, who was of German birth, died in 1926, and her mother, who was born in Canada of English parentage, is now living in Tacoma. In his political views Dr. Grabbert maintains an independent attitude, voting according to the dictates of his judgment. He is a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion and belongs to the Kelso Club and the Cowlitz County Country Club. He and his wife are earnest members of the Lutheran church. The Doctor is a lover of outdoor life, trout fishing being his favorite diversion. A man of frank address and straightforward manner, he makes a favorable impression on all who come in contact with him and throughout the community in which he lives is held in high esteem.
