All submissions become part of the permanent collection. The Gardner Family Cemetery is located on the original land settled by N.B. Gardner in 1882 when Mr. Gardner and his family settled in the area. In the shadows beneath a small grove of trees protected by an ornate iron fence, are the graves of two small boys, aged 10 and 2, sons of Mr. Gardner. Only one name and dates were found, that of Hiram Gardner, born about 1879 and died 30 June 1889. Further east of the Gardner homestead, along a long ridge that slopes up to Signal Peak, in Township 10 North-Range 2 East (4460 Line Road, on the south fork of the Toutle River, past Weyerhaeuser's Camp Baker) is another small cemetery, which can only be reached by an overgrown trail off a logging road. The only marker left reads: August Hulstrom died June 7, 1897, Aged 43 years. This information was gathered by Hazel Sanders and Evelyn Huerd. Submitted by Caren Gimper on November 24, 2003.
