Robert L. Austreng, 69, longtime resident of Longview, went home to be with the 
Lord on May 8, 2006 at the Hospice Care Center. 

Robert was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Helen (David) and Marvel 
Austreng on June 2, 1936. He moved with his parents to Longview in 1943. Robert 
graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1954 where he was a standout baseball 
player. 

Robert was a member of AWPPW Local 153 and retired from Longview Fibre after 
over 38 years as a papermaker. He was a member of the Longview/Kelso Elks Lodge 
1482 for 37 years. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed going on golf trips with his 
buddies, and always checking out new courses to play on. He loved going to 
Mariner games, watching them on TV, and following the team. Robert enjoyed his 
children and grandchildren and watching their sporting events. Robert was 
preceded in death by his father, Marvel Austreng; his mother, Helen Prinke; and 
son, Joey Austreng. Surviving Robert are special friend, Tammee Ferdon; 
sisters, JoAnn Ostreim (husband John) and Carol King; ten children, Linda Roth, 
Dan Austreng, Jim Austreng, Skipper Austreng, Cynthia Reeves, Connie Austreng, 
David Hudson, Julie Hudson Smith, Torry Austreng and Kelly Austreng; numerous 
nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

As per Robert's request, there will be no service. Memorial contributions can 
be made to Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 
98632. Columbia Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
