He was born May 31, 1917, in Gilford, Montana to Peter and Serene (Kastella)Bakke. He moved to the local area from Vancouver 25 years ago. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a carpenter in the construction trade. Survivors include his wife, Mable C. (Barnes) Bakke; three sons, Antony Bakke, Richard Bakke and Douglas Bakke; a stepson, James Beck; a stepdaughter, Judy Vogele; a brother, James Bakke; nine grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. Service held April 4, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Longview, WA. Columbia Funeral Service.
